  1. Hi folks, It's been awhile since I posted, and since I've been painting online with friends a lot more, I figured it was time to get back to it! Painted this one via Twitch livestream the other night when someone in chat suggested a freehand pattern similar to a marsh frog (to go with the "bog" theme). While I can't take credit for the idea, we took the concept and ran with it-- I think the freehand really makes him stand out! Below is a frog stock photo I pulled for general reference. The hardest part was picking a random pattern to draw on the wings and mirroring it on the other side. Oh, and trying not to make him look too cute, with big, cartoony googly eyes, though the sculpt is stinkin' adorable, I just can't stand it! Thanks Bob Ridolfi for creating yet another Reaper sculpt that makes me smile I can't decide whether I want to break up the beautiful matte paint finish (all Reaper MSP colors) with a gloss varnish on the egg-like-sac-protuberances on his back... part of me wants to keep it all matte, but another part of me wants it to look extra gross and slimy. Thoughts? I appreciate you taking a peek! Hope you have a great day Thanks, Mocha
  2. You've been groping underground for a while when you catch the sound of beating bat wings down the cavern ahead. A few steps more and the oozing walls open on a large cave. Small rusty-red creatures are flying in circle between stalactites, four pincer-like legs and a proboscis dangling under their hairy body. Abruptly, you notice a change in their behavior. They all hover in place and their yellowish eyes pierces in your direction. Before you have time to do anything, you are swarm by these bloodthirsty Stirges. Here are the 02691, Striges Dark Heaven Legends sculpted by Bob Olley.
  3. The demonic court is a troublesome place. A courtesan has to keep her blades at the ready...
  4. So I'm pretty new to the painting scene - just started about a month and a half ago after playing off-and-on for 15 years with a couple of unpainted minis. After about 20 little fellows, I finally have one that I think is mostly 'ok' - I know her eyes and mouth are still pretty terrible, but I just don't have the fine brush control (yet) to do more than blobs at this stage. :D edit - add tags
  5. I made a thing today... Iffin' I wasn't a Griffin this would have to be classified as a Frogcident. I will add part numbers to the tags if anyone can ID some of them. TGPTGP
  6. Mini appears to be this guy. I was going for a kind of unearthly celestial glow with him, though it came out really strangely in the hair. Still, fun to paint :-) Update: I didn't like how his base looked. Although it was transparent, it didn't give the illusion of floating, so I added some "clouds", which is closer to what I wanted, but still doesn't quite give the flying illusion. :-/ If anyone has any suggestions on how I can make him look more like he's flying, I'm all ears :-) Thanks!
