  1. I've been slowly (very slowly) working my way through some of the larger non-humanoid figures in my collection. This one took me about a year to complete, mostly because of the wings. I haven't figured out how to do the translucent effect yet, but I'm getting closer.
  2. Hi guys. Here is my painted Bones Succubus. Parts of her are a hot mess but I am so happy with her!! I pushed through sone issues I was having and there are so many spots I learned on her. For starters she has the first makeup I ever put on a mini. She has eyeshadow, blush, lipstick complete with little white light dot on her lower lip for fun and a beauty mark! I started with slightly less pronounced makeup but then she's a succubus, she would have exaggerated makeup I think. The unfortunate thing about her is her right cheek has quite an indent and then a mold line a little past that. I disguised the mold line by giving her a "lady sideburn" to match the one sculpted on the other side but there's nothing I can do about the indent. Then her wings, for the first time I was able to get more of a variation in the colouring which I tried with my bat demon and ended up covering because I didn't like it. Her dress could have used a bit more but I was done and I'm still working on the layering/highlighting in general. One thing that still bothers me is the rough look of my paint jobs when I'm done. I paint with a wet palette so thinning isn't an issue I don't think and don't put coats on top of drying paints so that's not causing it. Hope everyone likes her as much as I do. I even have a second copy of her to do later in my painting journey.
  3. I made a thing today... Iffin' I wasn't a Griffin this would have to be classified as a Frogcident. I will add part numbers to the tags if anyone can ID some of them. TGPTGP
  4. After several iterations of painting and base, I'm finally happy with my Griffon and I'm calling it finished! The mini ended up looking a bit cartoony I did go for something else initially, but it seemed too plain for a griffon, so I was happy to exchange realism for 'striking'. More on PSA. And I just finished redoing the base -- thanks for support on the WIP board.
  5. Presenting my first (and probably last) Sophie mini, Mermaid Sophie! Got stuck on her wings so she sat unfinished for a long while, and I never did manage to give her non-googly eyes, but overall I think she turned out decent. As always, and comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  6. OH CURSE YOU GOBLIN! A friend gave me this for Christmas 10+ years ago, and I have always been afraid to paint it, as I had the 'I'm not good enough now' syndrome.... Then seeing Siri's Tia-not, and then Buglips' thread on this beastie, (I mean her Dark Majesty) the 5 little voices have been saying do it, paint it, Ma'al Drakkar will be here in a year... (I need to look Good, in an evil sort of way, for that big guy!) And since my air compressor died tonight, I thought maybe I could kill my Dremel tool to! Going to do prep work tonight, so won't be anything exciting, but I snapped a few pics to show the components. I don't have Sir Forscale, so I brought in his bard, Astrid the Chronicler, to show you all their sheer size... (What is this wench doing strolling around my parts!!) (Ma'al is gonna be scary!) Pics: The Vrock I am working on to show the wing span: This also to motivate me to work on it, so that I can have it ready for the end of the year.... DDS 2 is in the mail to.... Think I might be biting off more than I can get in my mouth, never mind chew... Wish me luck! Gonna need it! (If you don't get back to work, you'll need more than LUCK!) 8) George (Are you finished nattering yet slave? I need to be cleaned!) (coming your Darkness!) Now Buglips has ME doing it! Buglips' post on This figure
  7. I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Wizkids owlbear. When you put the three together, they make a crazy singing group!
  8. I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Bones Black owlbear. Not sure why it isn't in the store, even under the special edition section. I used the number it was assigned my order form. Anyway, it is a pretty cool model! I have several of them so will be able to paint them as different types of owls. I definitely need a Hedwig owlbear!
  9. I painted the Bones Black, Bones, and Wizkids owlbears as Great Horned Owls. This is the Bones owlbear. My husband calls him the crazy chicken. He is a little on the scrawny side and more than a bit manic. His face reminds me of Animal from the Muppets.
  10. Hi folks, It's been awhile since I posted, and since I've been painting online with friends a lot more, I figured it was time to get back to it! Painted this one via Twitch livestream the other night when someone in chat suggested a freehand pattern similar to a marsh frog (to go with the "bog" theme). While I can't take credit for the idea, we took the concept and ran with it-- I think the freehand really makes him stand out! Below is a frog stock photo I pulled for general reference. The hardest part was picking a random pattern to draw on the wings and mirroring it on the other side. Oh, and trying not to make him look too cute, with big, cartoony googly eyes, though the sculpt is stinkin' adorable, I just can't stand it! Thanks Bob Ridolfi for creating yet another Reaper sculpt that makes me smile I can't decide whether I want to break up the beautiful matte paint finish (all Reaper MSP colors) with a gloss varnish on the egg-like-sac-protuberances on his back... part of me wants to keep it all matte, but another part of me wants it to look extra gross and slimy. Thoughts? I appreciate you taking a peek! Hope you have a great day Thanks, Mocha
  11. Here is a werebat I painted to use for D&D. I like Australian Flying Foxes. They are awesome plus they look cool! I used their coloring to paint the werebat.
  12. Here is Angel of Shadows that I had fun painting with extreme OSL from both lantern and moonlight. I also had a lot of fun sticking her in front of different cityscapes. I am not sure if she was spreading dreams/wishes or collecting them but she had a Victorian feel to her so I envisioned her flying over Victorian London. Maybe she was acquainted with Peter Pan!
  13. Another monster for my Dungeons & Dragons games. I used the Olive Skin Triad with a bit of the Dark Skin triad for shadows. I used Army Painter Chaotic Red mixed with skintones for the back of the wings. I used Reaper Clear Yellow on the underside of the wings, Clear Purple in the shadows, and Clear red to do a glaze on the back of the wings. I love the clear paints! They are getting to be about as invaluable to me as Nightshade Purple!
  14. Here is the Sphinx from Bones 3. She was fun to paint with lots of little details. She has the prettiest face and since she is a little larger, there was lots of room to practice facial features. Hope my players are good at riddles! The color on the photos is a little "off" and everything appears a bit more yellow than it actually is. My batteries were dying in my camera so I was trying to hurry and didn't realize the color was slightly off. C&C welcome! Thanks for looking! Update: She is on the list to be released on March 5!
  15. Updated photos of General Matisse I painted a few months ago. Would appreciate any c&c. Please enjoy.
  16. So back to reposting my minis after the account crash. This is Freebooter winged Vampire Raven, sh swoops down from this ruin to attack Hasslefree's Gen. I removed Gen's horns, I wanted her to look more human. Gen's pics are linked cause, nude...mammal parts, I like the wings, but overall I'm not so proud of this. Around this time ( years ago) I noticed my eyesight getting worse. Nowadays I use a visor. https://postimg.cc/image/ef2n7zl6d/ https://postimg.cc/image/dcsgpgpid/ https://postimg.cc/image/5k1sxhbth/ https://postimg.cc/image/d012j9rt1/
  17. So, I've started going through my Bones figures and this is one of my first finished efforts the picture in the book was meant to be a constellation but looks more like a plant.
  18. Alrighty, she's done! Got "good" photos (still need to work on doing better there). Link to the WIP: I needed to do better on prep work. Her mold lines are pretty darn bad, along with some other metal flaws. And epoxying the wings damaged the skirt a bit and required touch-ups. Still, she was TONS of fun to paint. It will be nice going back to a semi-normal palette though that doesn't require a drop from every bottle. I'm glad I went with the brown and black outer-wear. Before gluing the wings it was a little funky, but putting those on pulled everything together I think. This figure will likely be a gift for a friend at some point. She was inspired by my LGBT+ friends who I adore and who are entirely rainbowful. She's here to bring them cheer. Aside from that, critique away! Happy to hear suggestions!
  19. This is the Reaper Bones Bat Demon I wanted to try some fiery wings. Comments and likes welcome! Hope you like him.
  20. So, I needed a little distraction from all the Reptiles and Amphibians... This guy just has had a nice comfy soapy bath and a trim with an exacto knife. Now drying and waiting for colours. Need to fill the gap between wings and back with plastic putty ( vallejo)
  21. My take on Orcus, in a diabolical red. Cheers, E.E.
  22. Some of you may remember that last December I converted an extra Darkrasp figure, that I had traded for back in 2013, into a Santa Claus themed wizard figure. Well, this week I finally got around to painting the original Darkrasp, Evil Priest, figure that came in the Dark Heroes set from my original Kickstarter pledge; and once again I did a conversion. A bit of train of thought now... As I looked at this figure and pondered how to paint it, I considered how most of the painted examples of this figure that I have seen have been done up in dark colors: black, grey, brown; and I decided that I wanted to do something different. So, I thought about light colors, and immediately I thought, "How about white?". As I considered white, I thought that with his flowing robes white would make him look almost like an angel; which led me to think that, well, if he was an angel then he'd be The Angel of Death, which would be kind of be a cool figure. If I was going to sell the angel idea he would need wings though; and where would I get wings? So I started pawing through my unpainted Bones collection, remembering that the Lesser Demons set had a bunch of winged figures in it. And, voila! I found what I thought would be the perfect set of wings there among the Lesser Demons: The Vulture Demon I was able to pry the wings off the figure, and I held them up against the Darkrasp figure to see how they looked. I couldn't believe what a perfect match they were! Not only did they seem the perfect size, and were feather covered; but they also mirrored the symmetry of the figure with the left wing raised like the left arm, and the right wing extended to match the position of the scythe. So, I used my Dremel with a small drill bit to cut a slot in Darkrasp's back, and glued the wings in place with Gorilla Superglue. And here's the painted result. I really like how this conversion turned out. I think he makes for a very formidable angel, and I think the all-white paint job looks really good on the figure. 23. Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of All Ages, Creatures of Every Type, Shade, and Hue, and buglips*the*goblin, I give you.... ME! I Finished Herself this evening, and then Had Her pose for an exclusive photo-shoot. Without Further Ado, The Queen of Chromatic Dragons! I took a shot of the photo set up as well: All pics were shot from 5+' away, then cropped with Photo Shop, Color and contrast corrected as well. It was a journey to get here, and my thanks to all those that looked in on the WiP from time to time, and special thanks to those that commented and encouraged me to keep going! And of course kept Her distracted as well.... George Human Avatar Here
  24. One last figure from my Memorial Day paint binge. She gave me fits all weekend, but I like how she eventually came out.
  25. Did this Hive Tyrant yesterday/today. He is magnetized to be able to switch between legs and wings. The 'not alien' head is from Epoch Studioz. Overall, I am really happy with this one. Edit: Updating the post with the based miniature. It has some drool, now, too! Alternate version, with all magnetized parts switched out:
