  1. Hello All, Here are photos of a 44125 Bones Black "Winter Wolf" I completed a few weeks ago. It is larger than the metal version. The unpainted fighter miniature is from Wizkids D&D Nolzur's. I used it to show scale. Thank you for looking.
  2. Here is the last one from my January painting. This is the Father Christmas freebie, #1589. I got him in 2021, and finally got around to painting him. I wonder if that scroll in the case at his back is this year's version of The List?
  3. Happy New Year's Eve everyone. To end the year with a little snow, I completed this base today. I had painted the Yeti two years ago, and he was only lacking a thematic basis. This is the Bones version of 77434, Yeti Chieftain sculpted by Jason Wiebe. The artificial snow is BF4103 from Army Painter Battlefields. The icicles were made with pieces of translucent plastic and gloss Mod Podge.
  4. Hi all. Another entry in my winter-themed minis. This guy was intended to serve as the BBEG in my Frostrun campaign. Kriger was the descendant of a greedy half-giant king who's line had been cursed to undeath. Kriger sought to lead an army of Draugr and vikings to reclaim his family throne. This "chaos warrior" model from Bones 4 was perfect. More Below the Spoiler: I really like how this guy turned out. He was one of those minis where I really pushed myself and tried some different things. I think it shows. Hopefully I'll get to continue his story, and return to my Frostrun game. Maybe by then I'll have found some suitable viking-esque warriors to accompany him. For more of my winter minis, check out my Frostrun Project HERE.
  5. A winter storm buried my part of the globe in snow last night so I'm filling a bit chilly. So today's the perfect day to show off these frigid little birds from Bones 4. More Below the Spoiler: These were a fun little set, though they took me longer to do than I anticipated. So much black and white really killed my motivation. Glad they're done and decently satisfied with the results. They make a nice addition to my winter collection. If you want to see more of my wintery minis, check out my ongoing Frostrun Project Here How's the weather where you live?
  6. Back again with another recent wintery addition to Frostrun. Here we have the caribou from EC3D's Wilds of Wintertide Kickstarter which has been beautifully printed from EscharloneGaming on Etsy. These caribou, or reindeer, are fantastic little models with just enough detail to make painting them a blast, but not so much texture as to make them a pain. These are the first 3D printed minis I have ever purchased or painted, except for a few Heroforge minis. I didn't know what to expect from the quality of design or delivery, but was very pleased with the results! I painted up two variations, one with a lighter coat and a white nose, and another with a darker coat and a black nose. I was absolutely thrilled with the result and they have made a wonderful addition to my campaign of Frostrun. More Photos below the spoiler: I have a handful of other minis from this line also printed by EscharloneGaming and I am looking forward to painting them up as well, when the inspiration finally seizes me. What are your favorite 3D models? Check out this WIP for the rest of my Frostrun project.
  7. Well, I did it. We now have a cute little Christmas scene with mama Blightfang and her wee ones getting ready for the holidays! A little early for some holiday cheer but it was fun Learned a few things: don't use wood glue to hold down snow it gives a disturbing yellow cast. Blightfangs scales are actually leaves, making her more of a forest dragon than a classic green, and I think one of her children was adopted... I really had a lot of fun with this, even if it wasn't my best work. It came out well. I really like the red and teal fades on the wings. I hope everyone enjoys this little window into the holidays... and one more thing. Although it shows off the teal wings really well and it's an adventurers favorite view, the backside of a dragon is not the most exciting!
  8. Here is my entry for the Yeti contest. A co-worker thought he'd make a good Grinch, so I went with that. A little Greenstuff to make a Santa Hat, and here were are. The gift box was tough. I mixed my own metallic blue paint, and freehanded wayyy too many snowflakes. I included other shots without the box to show off his details. Enjoy.
  9. Maledrakh's (to date) lone entry into Ladystorm's Winter Contest seemed, well, lonely, so here's my version of the Yeti Chieftain.
  10. Hi everyone, I painted this 80072, Antarctic Explorer to complement the little scene that I did for LadyStorm's winter contest. This model was sculpted by James Van Schaik. I painted it with Reaper's MSP paint and the synthetic snow is Army Painter Battlefields BF4103 snow. Any similarity with an old bearded man from the northern hemisphere is pure coincidence.
  11. I thought I would start my own Frostgrave terrain thread, since I started on my second ruin this week, and don't see my self stopping anytime soon. And, I didn't want to keep posting links in David's excellent Frostgrave terrain thread found here, http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65272-frostgrave-terrain/ , and detract from his efforts. For those that missed it, I already posted my first ruin here in the Frostgrave thread in the Fantasy sub-forum: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/63635-frostgrave/?p=1252554 This week, I thought I'd take things to another level and try my hand at a two-story ruin... Two improvements I wanted to try this week were to add more debris on to the base; and to mount the building on a squared base to help it feel more like an urban building. The main structure is made from cork tiles, and the extra details are made with balsa and bass wood. IMG_5605 by cnjpalmer IMG_5606 by cnjpalmer

  13. After I started working on my Soviet Russian girls, I soon noticed that I missed some usable terrain. So it was time for me to start making some. I checked my stuff and ... unfortunately I didn't have got any usable terrain. But I had some 28mm Warhammer 40k barrels and boxes. So ... what to do with those? ... Luckily I am a person full of ideas and dreams and melancholy. So I remembered back in the days when I was young, I played a game called "Blitzkrieg". "Blitzkrieg" was a lovely game using a lovely graphic engine for displaying things. And they had this wonderful supply depot, which I think would be perfect First off I have have to prepare some boxes to later have a good foundation for the blanket. ... which ended in in looking like this: Time to paint!
  14. Weather in the UK is awful right now. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2018/feb/28/uk-weather-beast-from-the-east-batters-britain-for-second-day-live Are UK forumites doing OK?
  15. This is my entry into a local Con's painting competition in the single figure category.
  16. Here's another recent paint. It still goes along with the Reign of Winter AP theme, though I don't know if the Adventure Path has a Polar Bear or not. This figure represents an example of "It looked better in my head." I tried following some pictures of polar bears on the web: It seems some are very yellowed (not necessarily in the shadows), and some are very white. So, I started with a base of 50/50 Golden Blonde/Linen White, and successively lightened it up to white, and left the darker color in the shadows. I thought the fur quality on this BONES sculpt is very good, so it lent itself well to a mix of drybrushing and picking out individual strands with the brush. I tried something different for the snow on the base, just some puddles of white glue that I then painted with Ghost White and Pure White. C&C Welcomed.
  17. Also to go along with our Reign of Winter campaign. This is the BONES Winter Wolf. I had the most fun with the eyes. Some of the pics came out a little dark, despite 3 lights. It must be a camera thing... C&C Welcome.
  18. I haven't posted much lately. Work and life have been busy. We have been playing Reign of Winter. The GM told me there would be some Snow Goblins. I thought these Bones Gremlins look a lot like Pathfinder Goblins, so I gave them a wintry paint scheme and some snowy bases. C&C Welcome
  19. This will be where I post my Frost Grave Terrain. First up will probably be an improvised fountain, made from a leftover plastic container and the water weird (77310) mini Also Dave Graffam's Tall Ruined Wall. I'll be doing that tomorrow with bristol board and going to the print shop to print some stuff in color. There's no Glue Stick so only priming and dry-fitting of the fountain
  20. Hey guys! My excited ramble and snowglobe idea list: The Questions: Google says exposed pewter can corrode, I would think that properly primed, painted, and sealed minis would be safe, correct? I would want the paint to be waterproof. Does anyone have any experience with waterproof sealers? Especially ones that aren't super shiny? Would it be better to put the Reaper sealer on, then the waterproof? Material - I've found a seller for no-seam glass globes that are 4"/100mm diameter. Would it be safer to find a plastic globe, and then find some sort of scratch protectant? Distraction - any animal-safe, waterproof sealers? Because oh my goodness fish aquariums. Cthulhu fish tank. The Answers: Materials and Painting: Globes: Floaties: Liquids: Thanks in advance! Edit: I said I wasn't going to ramble and I did... Edited to fix my inability to type reasonably when excited. I will be adding more information as I find the time!
  21. When I first saw the thread over on the Terrain Forum, where lowlylowlycook was painting up Kalladrax to use as Frostgrave terrain, I thought that it was a really cool idea; and I decided I wanted do the same for my Frostgrave games. So, I picked up a copy of Kalladrax, and last Thursday I got started on the project, and just finished up yesterday. If you'd like to see the full step by step Work-in-Progress thread, please see here on my Frostgrave Terrain thread; otherwise, on to the photos! :) I'm really happy with how this piece came out. I think it will be quite the show-stopper when used as the centerpiece on my Frostgrave table at upcoming conventions.
  22. This week I completed the Warg figure from the Bones II original figures set. I didn't realize he was a Warg when I started painting him; I just assumed he was a large wolf. So, I decided to paint him as an Arctic Wolf because, as with the rest of the animals I've been doing recently, I was painting him up for Frostgrave. A always, C and C welcome.
  23. Continuing the WIP from http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/64819-lexomatics-fall-2015-wip I'll be working on my shelf of shame minis, trying some bones 2 anhurians, some outstanding hearthstone minis, and maybe some more animals and skeletons, and ice walls and slimes. Also some zombicide crows (as lots of different birds
  24. This week I finished up the Canine figure from the "Bones 2" KS Original Figures set. He is part of the Animal Companion set in Reaper's online store. I chose to paint it up like a Wild Dog, one of the Creatures encountered in Frostgrave. Nothing fancy, just a tabletop paint job. C and C welcome.
  25. This week I painted up the big cat figure that came with the Bones II KS original set of figures. He belongs to the Animal Companions pack in the online store. I chose to paint him as a Snow Leopard to use in my Frostgrave games. I just did a quickie tabletop paint job on it, but am pleased with the results. As always, C & C welcome.
