  1. Painted the Witchunter General and his Dog 3D Printed on my Elegoo Mars, Design Signum The Base is from CastnPlay also printed. Part of my Children of the Night Project. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79298-children-of-the-night-by-glitterwolf/ ******************* Lucius joined the Order of Slayers as a young man, hunting Witches, Vampires and Demons felt like a calling to him. He did well, but he got overconfident and one day he went after a Strigoi Vampire without backup. When his crossbow malfunctioned the Strigoi was able to close in, Lucius was no match in hand to hand combat. The Strigoi lifted him up like a puppet and smashed Lucius to the ground breaking his back. Lucius was lucky that his fellow slayers had noticed his absence and had followed him, the strigoi escaped but Lucius lived. Lucius didn't give up though, with the help of the Order's Engineer he got a steam driven wheelchair, and they made a special weapon for him. A triple barreled shotgun that could fire silver bullets combined with a crossbow. Over the years Lucius rose through the ranks till he became Head of the Order of Slayers himself. Still obsessed to find the Strigoi responsible for his broken spine he's eager to fight as ever. His loyal hound follows him everywhere. One day he will find the Strigoi and then he will have his revenge. *****************************
  2. These were part of Warlord's Pike & Shotte starter box, which I picked up for the purpose of getting some rank and file reinforcements for my witch hunter army. I kept with the basic pilgrim color scheme, and it worked very nicely once I'd added some of Warlord's broadbrim hats pack to them. They came with two sets of arms, providing a little variation depending on what angle I glued them, and with the variety of hats in the broadbrimed sprues, I was able to get a nice amount of individuality to them, while keeping them uniform. Here we see them hard at work, preventing a foul necromancer from enslaving the local cemetery's dead.... They are not amused by such blasphemous tomfoolery.
  3. She was the first Bones Black mini I've painted, and I'm digging the new material even if it does feel a bit weird to not douse it in sepia wash first. While the addition of a nifty Inquisiting Hat lessens the otherwise piratical vibe she would otherwise have, it does make her face hard to reach. I also noticed that for some reason her braid was completely seperate from her head. She also had several almost impossible to reach mold lines, but light nitpicking aside, I really like the character of this sculpt. And with Oswald...
  4. A long term resident of the Shelf of Incompletion. A year or so back I got the idea of swaping out his shovel for the ax from one of Reaper's weapon packs, but until recently didn't have much luck in getting it to stay glued. He's a rather interesting sculpt, his hat and coat are rather witch hunterlike, also I'm not able to determine a reason why the local grave digger needs armored shoulders, but his face and robe also make one wonder if perhaps he dabbles in necromancy on the weekends. Eventually I'll have to pick up another one of him, see what a necromancer conversion might turn out like... It could be argued that an ax is a vital tool for undertakers, considering the likelihood of the local crypt containing a ghoul warren...
  5. As the forces of Old Night gather outside, the sounds of spectral jobbling can be faintly heard. The Turkey Spirits rise and hunt their prey, eyes glowing with a baleful fire... But just as with the 1st Thanksgiving, some hardelf Pilgrims have risen up to protect the fragile sanity of man from these dark forces, I present Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters and Turkey Spirit Smiters!
  6. I think this was my longest uncompleted figure, having started him 14 years ago. Having most of him finished to the best of my ability at that time he didn't take too long to complete, and on the advise of Malefactus I plopped him on a larger base, which I painted in the style of the examples found in the Mordheim rulebook. (I also discovered that younger me had closely followed the paint scheme for this figure, changing only the hat, ribbon and sword colors) The Purging of November begins... I redid the original freehand on his sword, as younger me had a bit of trouble getting all the letters on. I was also able to stylize them somewhat. The light dusting on his coat wasn't intentional but a happy accident. And here he is with some friends, a Ral Partha Witch Hunter who has recently had a Mordheim sword arm attached and a Bones Village Rioter.
  7. Rippers Witch Hunter from Reaper's Savage Worlds miniatures line. Oh varnish. The bane of my existance. I just can never seem to get it right. I've got the first step down (two rounds of floor polish) but after that I'm stumped. What I thought was my try and tested method of matt spray varnish suddenly doesn't work. It either leaves considerable spots of gloss and/or frost (the later probably due to the cold weather). And the spray is a nightmare to maintain. Recently I've tried to go back to brush on matt sealer which seems to do the trick (at least servicable). But something worries me that I'm forgetting something, since there should be a reason that I didn't use brush on sealer earlier. I'm hoping it's just sloth. This figure is suffering from my (many) bouts with the sealing process. Anyway, I painted this miniature as a stand in for a PC in a game of Shadows of Esteren I'm GM:ing. I cut the sword and replaced it with a torch from a Bones townsfolk miniature. I had such high hopes with the mini before hand. I was going to go for a darker tone and try OSL. Reality hit and it wasn't pleasant. So I ditched everything and went plain. Got an OK result.
  8. A while back I came across a photo of the Games Workshop metal Witch Hunter figure of the fellow carrying an axe in one hand, and a puppet in the other. I knew I had to have one for my Frostgrave collection, as it was such a silly looking model. Luckily, I was able to pick one up on Ebay. The puppet, as it comes with the figure, represents a religious personality with a mitre and staff. I, however, wanted it to be more of a "Mini Me" representation of the puppeteer (obviously driven a little looney from repeated trips into the frozen city). So, I replaced the crooked head of the staff with a small axe head, and carved his mitered hat down to look more like a helmet. I painted the figure, and did the puppet in the same color scheme. I wasn't sure what to do on his wooden sign, and then I got the idea to do it as a scoreboard, as if our Thug and his little friend were having a contest to see which one of them could despatch the most enemies. I'm really happy with how he (they?) turned out. I think it will make a fun addition to my Frostgrave collection.
