Presenting Torgillius the Chamberlain, one of the big bads from Warhammer Quest:- The Cursed City by Games Workshop, and is the latest result in my attempt to (Very slowly) get the game painted up, as documented in my WIP thread. Despite making life hard for myself by painting his animal minions first and then having to try and paint everything else around them (The fox? got in the way a lot!), I'm really pleased with how he turned out, particularly my attempt at a bit of writing on his noticeboard thingy. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

Hi all! How do you do? It's been a while since I last shared a mini here. I recently converted and painted one for my egyptian-themed Frostgrave warband. Since the mini is a female and has bare breasts, I am supposed -as per the forum rules- to post links to the pictures instead of displaying them directly in the post. So consider this topic slightly NSFW. To begin with, here is the mini I started with: https://www.reapermini.com/search/yanara https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/01/p1090389.jpg For the conversion, here's what I did: Sawed the head off. A brutal surgery but a necessary one. [picture] Replaced the head with a bald one from Statuesque Miniatures. [picture] Filed off the remaining hair with a Dremmel power tool. [picture] Filed off the belt decoration and replace it with an Ankh cross. Resculpted the piece of fur on her shoulders and upper back. Cut off the top of her staff and replace it with an egyptian staff decoration (a double ostrich feather ornament) The result after the conversion: https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/06/p1090830.jpg After priming in off-white: https://legolemquireve.files.wordpress.com/2022/06/p1090832.jpg And finally, the painted mini: [Front Picture] / [Side Picture 1] / [Side Picture 2] / [Back Picture] / [Close-up Picture] If you want to see the pictures directly, you may visit my blog post (although it's written in french): https://legolemquireve.wordpress.com/2022/06/29/sandgrave-djesa-la-thaumaturge/

This guy originally had a cat familiar on his base, but I removed that to set aside for a future project. I really like how the highlighting came out, as well as the decoupaged book pages. His color scheme is based off of the Knickerbocker LOTR Gandalf figure from the 70's (a toy I admire, but will never be able to afford as long as I've got this pesky mortgage).

Hello All, Here is a recently completed 77054 "Galladon, Human Wizard". I did have to make changes to the staff. I could not straighten it out by any means to my satisfaction. So, I cut off the original staff, drilled a hole in his hand and replaced the Bones bendy plastic staff with a brass rod. I cut off the bottom and top of the plastic staff, pinned the parts to the brass rod and there you go. Thank you for looking.

This is s figure that I painted during a speed painting class at Reapercon a couple years ago. I decided to go back and clean up a couple things that I think could have been a little better. I know that's not quite the idea of speed painting, but I brought him to my tabletop standard, so I'm happy with him now.

This an old D&D miniatures Bonded Fire Summoner that I cleaned up the basic paintjob it came with. This was mostly done to knock out something quick to get back into painting. Basic tabletop. Lots of dust, I really need to clean out the lightbox....

Hello everyone, this is 02473, Aramil the Elf Sorcerer sculpted by Sandra Garrity. I like the shoulder pads and the way the overcoat is textured. I went with a reddish color for the staff to complement the colors of the clothes.

From about 5-10 years ago. Great sculpt, except that staff is thin and fragile as all get out. Base is a bit meh, I think I should have stippled in a bit more texture, and more color gradation (reds in shadows?), for more interesting stone. .

She's a cool little sculpt from one of those bulk enemies lots on Amazon (works great as a PC/NPC as well). This was a pretty quick paint job. My main goal was to try out some different color schemes (I was falling into a rut). I'm not sure where the idea for the toothpaste-green dress came from, but I think it works. This particular mini recently got to come to life in one of my homebrew D&D campaigns as a homemade NPC - Alcinia, the haughty quest-giving wizard living in Neverwinter. As always, I'd be interested in any thoughts/criticism on the model.

February was a productive month. Here is the Dragon and Stocking freebie from this past Christmas. #1631. Here is another little dragon. The Young Fire Dragon (DHL #3332). It's not easy being green. Time for class. How to grow your hoard. Here is the Human Wizard, Vodelis. DHL # 4009. He and Amari have the same broach. I think they are old friends from Magic school. And finally, here is the Bones Kickstarter V hippogriff.

Bad photos, bad Bones cast, and tabletop paint job of Balto Burrowell the Gnome Wizard. Painted this one up as my sons kid character in hero kids. Fuego is a young kid who can cast some fire spells and has survived three adventures and he was on his own in the last one. I am really beginning to loath these older human sized minis, but this is the closest I had to a human child for his character. Fairly simple base coat, washes, and highlights. I was having a lot of problems with my skin tone paints being too thin (even after several minutes on the vortex mixer). I guess that is the pit fall of no painting for months outside of terrain.

Here is Lashana, bad-elf female warrior-wizard. I was inspired by a movie I saw recently. Really enjoyed working with the red and orange colors. I like how non-traditional and energizing the color scheme is.

I realize it's not the weekend, but the week was quite busy and I'm happy to have got any of this done at all. BATTLE REPORT! This little wizard's focus for me was going to be brighter colors and trying to do skin and hair better. I think it came out pretty well. Wins: * The base color of red tone and highlighting upward to flesh tone seems to be a good mix. * Keeping to adjacent colors on the color wheel made for a pleasing, eye-catching combo. I have to say using the reds, oranges, and browns was pretty fun. * I did as much highlighting and avoiding washes as I could. This has been my practice over the last number of models I've done. I don't get how the videos show people just splashing it on for amazing results. I don't get it, can't seem to do it the same, so I resort to taking more time on starting dark and going light. Much like Dr. Faust's painting videos. I've learned much from watching him. * Mixing paints is getting better. I used like colors to lighten and highlight and I'm getting a better balance and understanding of how they may look really different wet, but getting to know how they dry and differs greatly. * The eyes worked better going in order of black first, white second, black third. I was doing a white, black, white and it made the eyes look weird. @Inarah pushed me to try something different and it's been working better. * The brown hair with little highlights came out good and I'm trying to be very light in my touch to get subtle look versus stark. Win! Misses: * The staff is okay. I tried to give it like some kind of weathered look or cool effect at the end, but it just didn't sing like I had hoped. * On the back of his cape, there's a part that I tried shading inf that just didn't look believable to the eye. I tried to hit it a few times to catch the light and how to lighten the edgest, but it was lost on me. Fail. *The skin on his hand held out has a funny look to it up close. I tried to bring out some of pads of his fingers and palm, but it doesn't look as good as I had hoped. Overall it's another win, and I'm happy with the results.
