  1. Got him as a freebie and found him rather uninspiring, so I used him as a test piece for my first experiment with oil paints. Now that he's all painted up he's one of my favourite minis in my collection. Found out the I absolutely love painting with oils! You can read a bit more about my painting process here.
  2. Hello All, Here are photos of 07030 Bones USA Dungeon Dwellers "Erebus Nalas, Wizard" I completed last week. Thank you for looking.
  3. Hello All, Here are photos of a 30074 Bones USA "Young Mage" I completed recently. Thank you for looking.
  4. I'm a bit late with this post. I painted this dude a couple of months back when the 3D printed minis in Bones 6 KS was still a somewhat relative discussion. I wanted to test out the 3D printed mini for myself. In short: I have nothing negative to say about this whole experience. In a bit longer: The details on the mini are sharp and crisp and thus fun to paint. The clean up process was quick. I don't see any support dots left on the mini. I did use Reaper brush on primer (don't remember what color where). Hmm... Can't think of anything else atm. If any questions - hit me up! 😄 Hope you like!
  5. Hello All, Here are photos of a 77172 Dark Heaven Bones "Malek Blackmarrow, Necromancer" I completed last month. Thank you for looking.
  6. Hi all, painting a bit less infrequently these days due to this and that and the other, but just finished this one recently, a Wizard from Dennis Mize's range Children of the Night. He's a pretty small little guy, probably about half the material a modern mage would take up, pretty faithful to 25 MM: Pretty simple figure but as such rather enjoyable and quick to paint. In the photos there is a weird light reflection in his cape in the darkest recesses which is weird because there's not an unpainted patch there, just odd the way the light hit it. Anyhoos, enjoy this blast from the past, I think this is one of those 1979-1982 figures, forgot to look at the bottom.
  7. And the last mini of the evening, this one is an eastern wizard, sculpted by Dennis Mize. Mize was a very big fan of Harryhausen movies and stop motion animation, and this was his version of one of their wizards from one of those great old Sinbad movie. I don't remember when these figures were sculpted but this, along with some other from the same genre were some of the last miniatures Mize did for Ral Partha/Iron Wind Metals. As always, colors were hard to choose. The one thing I knew I wanted was for him to have that kind of cool dyed orangish beard that I've seen before in some Middle Eastern older gentlemen. Anyhoos, here he is: The hardest thing to do on this gent was his eyes because they are so deeply set. I'm still not exactly sure what they look like.
  8. Hello All, Here are photos of a 77203 Dark Heaven Bones "Alastriel, Female Elf Wizard" I completed yesterday. Thank you for looking.
  9. Hello All, Here are photos of a Dark Heaven Legends 03415 "Lanura Windsong, Elf Wizard" I completed last Friday. Thank you for looking.
  10. Here are some minis from the Bones Kickstarter V campaign. After Christmas, I was finally able to get some paint on some minis, and have a productive month. #1003 #1013. I love the expression on this guy. It looks like he's not impressed by whatever he's hearing. #1026. I tried a different recipe for painting his red cloak. I like how it turned out.
  11. Hello! I tend to be more active on the Reaper Facebook and Discord, but I was so excited about this mini that I decided to share here, too! She's my first mini that I'm using to prepare for ReaperCon 2023. January's not to early to start, right?
  12. Here he is, Mr. Oman Ruul charging up a grapefruit. Let me know what you think of the OSL. I did a few multishots so you can see angles. Overall I think he came out pretty good. I was trying to only hit where the light would be coming from the glowing grapefruit of doom.
  13. Good morning all you Reaperphonics! So this morning a miniature I just finished, and for this, so many different little elements, I just kept choosing and choosing and choosing colors as they were painted because I had no idea what I wanted to do, just that I wanted him painted finally after so many years of just sitting there and mocking me. I really like this little guy, love his little, tiny familiar on his shoulder and the open potion bottle, extremely fun. Sculpted by Richard Kerr in 1992, so 30 years old (just went downstairs and checked another copy I had to him for the year). Beyond a traveling wizard he almost gives me kind of a pimpy vibe, struttin' his stuff, but maybe he just pimps out lady demons on the side. So anyway, hope you all like him, let me know if you think there are too many colors or if it actually ends up working!
  14. So, finished this one up over the weekend and got some pictures taken. I didn't really realize it but I've been painting a decent number of magic users recently, and here's another to add to the list, a "wizard with staff", sculpted by Julie Guthrie, probably back in the latter eighties, fun piece. I didn't want him to look too old with a white beard, so went with a darker color. One more down, thousands more to go!
  15. Hello All, Here is a Bones USA 30011 "Arkus Harn, Dwarf Witch Hunter" I completed last week. Thank you for looking.
  16. Hello All, Here is a Bones USA 30001 Lysette Elven Mage I completed several days ago. Thank you for looking.
  17. Hello All, Here is a 07068 Bones USA Dungeon Dwellers "Landol Griswold, Human Wizard" I completed a few days ago. Thank you for looking.
  18. We've had some cool kitbashes on here lately, which got me to thinking about this guy I put together a few years ago. The head and arm are from an Oathmark dwarf sprue (with a mustache added to the face and a bead added to the top of the staff). The body is from some Star Wars miniature of the Emperor's Royal Guard. Not sure about the exact line (it was prior to the Legion stuff and originally had an oval base). If anyone knows the exact line, please clue me in. Anyway, I was going for a very archetypical wizard. I think I hit the mark (my working name for him is "Generico"). I do feel like he's got some personality, though. He seems like a stern old coot. I could definitely see him painted on the side of a sick 70's van.
  19. She's officially called the "Proprietress Wizard," but I get more of a rogue/thief vibe from her. I like the model, overall, but I wish her head wasn't so tiny.
  20. Good morning all you folk of the Reaper persuasion, who maybe should get their own pronoun, re. So I just finished this evil wizard up, sculpted way back in the eighties by Dennis Mize, I think to replace an earlier Citadel model. Tried to keep him dark, and originally thought about starting all black and just use different highlight coloring for the cape and for the cloak, but then kind of wussed out and thought nothing cries evil like a man with a pink cloak (a la Roose Bolton) so here he is for your viewing pleasure: Enjoy all of his fashion glory!
  21. Really happy with the way this one turned out. I used her a while back as a Halfling necromancer in a campaign that sort of fizzled out. I feel like she'd also work as a gnome (and as a warlock).
  22. Hello All, Here is metal 03837 "Kenrik Thistlemoor, Wizard" I completed last January. Thank you for looking.
  23. Presenting Torgillius the Chamberlain, one of the big bads from Warhammer Quest:- The Cursed City by Games Workshop, and is the latest result in my attempt to (Very slowly) get the game painted up, as documented in my WIP thread. Despite making life hard for myself by painting his animal minions first and then having to try and paint everything else around them (The fox? got in the way a lot!), I'm really pleased with how he turned out, particularly my attempt at a bit of writing on his noticeboard thingy. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
