03375 DHL Classics Female Wizard by Sandra Garrity
This is Sandra Garrity's 02075, Katarina the Invoker. Technically she is from the set 03375: DHL Classics: Female Wizards, which seems to be different only in that the figures have much smaller bases. To increase stability I glued her to a fender washer. This is a figure I started a long while ago and finished only recently as part of my Conga Line of Doom. I wanted to refine her further, especially the tortoiseshell cat at her feet, but time is short and minis need playing with.
As with Katarina the Invoker, this is really from the set 03375: DHL Classics: Female Wizards. The figure is not quite as shown in 02115 as the figures in 03375 have tiny bases, barely larger than their clothes, which is why I have attached them to fender washers. She is also part of my year end Conga Line of finishing up half-done minis. If I didn't do something like this I would probably fuss over her forever. Sandra Garrity is a wonderful sculptor for women with lots of personality.
I got to wondering this during a discussion of broccoli bases. Awhile back I got the Reaper set DHL Classics: Female Wizards. The figures I got did not seem to have the same bases as those shown in the online store; they appeared noticeably smaller. The central figure, in particular, had just a little rim of base around and under her skirt. I don't mind that at all. I glued the figures to fender washers for stability, and the very small bases made it easier to blend them in. On the other hand, I kind of had to do that because they were less stable because of the small bases. Has something changed in the sculpts? Was this a fluke, or have the bases on those three female wizards been reduced in size? Or is this just some weird optical illusion and my eyes are playing tricks on me?
