  1. Here are another 2 wraiths -
  2. I ordered the new wraiths that were just released that were part of the Bones 4 KS. I thought they were going to be opaque (that's how they were first posted), and was bummed when they arrived as translucent. Mostly because I have never painted a translucent before. So I ordered up a couple other green guys to try out some technique. After botching up the Spirit figure with AP green quickshade, I moved on to this Grave Wraith. I used Muddy Brown on the ground, Mountain Stone on the gravestone and Bronze Dragon on the sword. I liberally used AP strong quickshade as a base on the wra
  3. Not super pleased with this dude. I could picture it in my head, but it didn't translate as well. Still need to work on learning how to achieve a glaze consistency.
  4. The WIP is here: A little less see-through than I'd like, but the light still passes. There is glow in the dark medium used, but it's not very effective, and would never come into play anyway.
  5. I had so much fun with my slimes I decided to do a few more translucent minis I had handy. These are the Grave Wraith and Nightspectre (somewhere else I have a Ghostly Summons 77095, Labella DeMornay 77096, and a spare Spirit 77098 that I will paint another time). I wanted to do these quickly, so it's ink mostly - the same ones as with the slimes, plus maybe a few darker phthalos. I've done a coat of glow in the dark medium for each (photographed), a coat of the not highest green, and picked out the skeletons in the nightspectre with a wash of medium and brown liner and base coated the g
  6. I try to comfom to the posting title and tags rules as laid down by the high and mighty,..please let me know if anything need to be done differently. --- So, 2017 has arrived.Time to mess about with spirits. The first series of translucent Bones were made either in orange or in a bright greenish tinge, and it seems I only ever got round to painting one or two of the green ones. We can't have that, can we? As with all the translucents, the key is to prime the model with matte varnish. I use Army Painter Anti-Shine spray for this. After that I use mainly inks as they also
  7. Put some Tamiya clear colors on a few Bones this weekend and I love the results. Goes on like a wash so it takes no time at all and both gives interesting color effects and makes the figure more clearly translucent. Here is a Grave Wraith with Tamiya Clear Smoke on he robes and Clear Green on the sword, I'll throw a few more up when I get home.
  8. Another batch done, these were harder for me to do...not very experienced with translucent Bones 77083: Medium Fire Elemental 77097: Grave Wraith 77369: Shadow 77368: Shadow Demon 77366: Shadow Hound 77080: Wall of Fire x3 77367: Shadow Tentacles
  9. I bought Tamiya clear yellow, green and orange and played around with the female bones fire elemental (77083) and the bones grave wraith (77097). The yellow/orange hardly shows at all on the red bones, but the green Tamiya clear turned out ok on the green wraith. Fire Elemental linked due to nudity: http://www.coolminiornot.com/369634?browseid=10757476 Edited to add SKU to tags.
  10. I think I have two more batches to post, so just enough to last me until Friday. I love the translucent bones, great fun to paint and super fast. Finally got around to painting up the nightspectre and I don't think my Grave Wraith has made it on here yet either, so here they are.
  11. This was my very first attempt at OSL - I don't think I suceeded (I polled for opinions already in WIP) but I learned a lot and, hey, when it's a choice between repainting significant parts of the mini, or just buying a new mini to try again, the price tag of under $3 makes that an easy choice. Since that WIP I made very little changes to the mini - brightened up a bit of the blue, extended it out of the cowl a bit more, and of course did the base. The idea is that the opening in the face, the opening in the left arm, and the hilt of the sword are glowing with a faint blue light. I d
  12. This is my first attempt at OSL! I will admit, I feel like I'm pretty much done with this but kind of want to throw it out there for comment - the general idea behind this paint is that parts of the mini are glowing pale blue, the sources of light are inside the cowl, inside the left "hand" opening of the shroud, and the hilt of the sword. I got this idea from the flame-like hilt. The runes on the sword are the same color. Incidentally, for technique, I "primed" with the Reaper matte sealer, did a wash with black ink, water, and some clear green to tint it. The glow is supposed to be b
