  1. Howdy, He's a Marshan! Kev! P.S. Hey, batter, batter... Swing!
  2. Also for the 5E game, I've started working through my backlog of Bones monsters. While the DM is used to minis, the other players are new to the game and are not. Until we get them trained I'm mostly sticking to Bones and leaving my nicer metal minis at home. Anyway, first up is the Marsh Troll. It was painted using the glaze method that Antimatter promotes for quickly painting scaly beasts to tabletop. This wasn't quite up to his speed, but it was still pretty fast for me. And for those that followed my WIP, here's a better shot of the the magenta base after water effects were added. One more ready for the table.

    Trolls!

So with my ongoing RPG game heading into a new chapter, one that has a rather extensive focus on trolls, it was only right that I start painting up some of everyone's favorite regenerating, pyrophobes. So starting out with (from left to right) Lardgulp 2Headed Troll 02657 by S. Garrity, Bones Marsh Troll 77152 by J Wiebe, and the Bones Cave Troll 77004 by B. Siens. As you can see, the cave troll has already received a layer of blue liner to prepare for the rest of the paint job and has had his broccoli cut off to prepare for a rebasing (which will be a first ever attempt for me for this particular style of base. I do have another cave troll that might get added to this thread if time permits. I also have some Hordes trollbloods that will be used in the campaign as well, but will create a separate thread for them since they are a completely different company. Hoping to make some good progress on the cave troll at least today, though it is absolutely gorgeous outside, so will have to see. :)
  4. So I haven't posted in quite a while, which I suppose no one noticed. Better to be humble about these things. I have been working on this marsh troll for a while but I am a little frustrated because he seems too green. I can't seem to get the colors right. I am also working on the base, which will be, ....., A marsh. I am trying to get the feel of a swampy marsh, and have the troll in the water. Here is the base and the materials I am using and here is the layout I am thinking of I think it looks too bright and cheerful right now. I was going to use the lichens to make roots at the edge of the water, and mix in some dead grass. I was going to make the water a murky greenish black. Any suggestions?
  5. This was a big fun sculpt, with slightly too many fiddly details for my taste. Interestingly, he's clearly looking up and preparing to swing upwards with that club. Whatever it is he's fighting, it's even bigger than him! Will be entered into the Year of the Giants and Raging Reptilian Rencounter contests. Had a bit of a hard time photographing this guy for some reason, so you get a few shots from similar angles. I look forward to trying another take on this concept when my Swamp Troll from Bones II arrives.
  6. This is the Group WIP thread for the Swamp Things set from the kickstarter. Here is an image of all four models with some possible paint choices that I have for them. I will be starting with Lizardman Warrior (the guy with the club).
