  1. A friend asked me to do some conversions to make some Space Marine TM Drop Pods TM he had laying around into Chaos Drop Pods, aka Dread Claws TM. Naturally I was flattered. I have three distinct ideas but any and all feedback is very welcome. Drop Pod plus a couple of these kits(lucky Prime Day find!): The tricky bit is that I have 4 of quite a few parts and the drop pod has a 5 fold symmetry! Drop Pod plus this guy (who surely comes from a long lost GW chaos mold): Tricky bit is that I could probably use some cheap
  2. Here's a pair of robots I built to use for this is not a test. They are a mix of privateer press cyriss bodies, assorted gw, Mantic, reaper, and historical bits, and some wire. Was trying to play up the corrosion and damage in the paint.
  3. So I finally fell into the temptation and got my first ground based sci fi minis!(I do have spaceships.) A Cataphract, conquerer , and a halberd by Reaper minis came in with my horsman today! Sadly the halberd is missing a piece so it may in end up being returned. So my first order of business was a small conversion to the cataphract Before conversion And the conquerer has donated the necessary parts for said conversion, specifically his smaller missile pods. A bit of work with an exacto knife removed said weapons. And a bit more exacto work to mak
  4. Anyone who has got the male one of these able to tell me how easy it would be to remove his head for use on another mini?
  5. Finally think I got this group finished up! I've got a soft spot for the dark pulpy weirdness of the "Hellboy" universe, as we have seen. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/85925-heckfella-wwwoz-lion-80058-and-rafm-hells-harbinger-raf03897 https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/86757-bombshells-gillie-as-abbie-sapien The idea got into my head to do up the rest of the BPRD Special Operations crew from equally non-official sources. A few months back I got a set of 20+ very cheap miniatures for some superhero boardgame and got it into my head to use them as guilt-free c
  6. Online, from a certain market of miniatures, I found some "Kaosball" team expansion packs on clearance (for a better price than what they're listed at now, as of this writing). Each pack contains 13 32mm-scale minis in 2 poses (6 of one pose on 25mm square bases, and 7 of an alt pose on 25mm round bases), a "bust" that represents the "team coach," and a game-specific 12-sided die (which I suppose isn't much use for anything, unless I actually wanted to play the game). Anyway, this worked out to being under $1 a figure, and the sculpts looked interesting, so I got a few packs. (I find it hil
  7. The Skorchas are a smallish buggy like vehicle that doesn't have a model, so I cut down a couple trukks and made my own. The Battlewagon is pretty much stock kit, except I am adding a base (which isn't done yet). Skorchas:
  8. @Everyone :: Please feel free to share your pix of creations from the Bones Conversion Classes in this thread. I will **start: As a beginning exercise Gene Bobby and Jason had everyone pick a body, add one thing, and pass it to the right. That was repeated three times. These were the result. **Be warned I have moar pix...
  9. I have no idea what caused Gary Gygax, in the first edition Monster Manual, to decide that orcs had pig faces. Perhaps, like the infamous Punkin Headed Bugbear, he didn't INTEND for orcs to resemble the Bacon People, but rather to simply look porcine, and then miscommunicated it to the artist. I dunno. But when I began playing the game, orcs looked like pigs. It didn't last; the British brought us green orcs, other Americans brought us hairy gray orcs, and Ralph Bakshi brought us clips from Zulu Dawn with the Zulus painted black and red eyes and fangs added. But for some of us, our first
  10. Somewhere around here, I saw an article... rather good one... where someone took a Reaper monk figure and made a pretty good looking Jedi figure out of it. I've found myself thinking about Star Wars figures as of late, and I have found myself wondering: What figures does Reaper make, Bones or otherwise, that would manage a reasonable or easy conversion into Star Wars characters, or even generic space opera folks? Ideas? Suggestions? Pictures?
  11. I've been on a bit of a Sci-Fi kick recently, so I'm going to be converting and painting up the Bones version of the Nova Corp troops. The original head on this guy has a horrible mold line, so I swapped it with a GW Dark Eldar. Nothing wrong with her head, I just don't like having a bunch of clones, so I'll be giving her a bare head. With new head (from GW Wood Elves).
  12. Since these are pieces that, while in the same silly vein as those in The Last Hurrah Thread, they really wouldn't work in that setting & are a dead end project. I thought a new thread might be appropriate. The Last Hurrah will still be the ongoing thingy. One of the Folk on the Reaper Forum posed the question to the community at large: "Do you have a favorite Army?". Photos were requested. I just happen to have the remains of a nice undefeated Night Goblin, Troll, & Giant Army packed up & sitting in a cardboard box under my work table. They are the last Army I painted
  13. This trio may not have come from a Kickstarter, but they went into the factory line at the same time as my November Kickstarter paint projects. It's just a group of low-lives styled after those in "The Witcher" video game series, heavily converted. The crate in the group shot came in my ReaperCon swag bag.
  14. I started a thread over in the custom terrain and conversions forum to cover some of my aquatic themed monsters and terrain ( including boats and ships). I also wanted to share my other WIP for some of the figures I am working with or finished. I did most of these conversions for a game called Heroscape over at Heroscapers.com. I like going back to something I did a few years ago and retouch it up, or repaint it or do some additional details. Anything suggestions are always welcomed. Mage knight Giant to Classic Giant How I modified the MK Giant to a Classic D&D Giant
  15. I've been working on some conversions for the new Cultists from Frostgrave. I tried to set them up to pull double-duty as Cult of the Possessed for Mordheim. I really enjoy this kit, I'm going to have to get a second one just for sci-fi conversions...I've used up almost all the parts already.
  16. I'm trying to get more monsters available for the random encounters in Frostgrave. First off is a Frost Giant, converted from the Pathfinder Battles: Dungeons Deep Frost Giant. She wasn't directly intended for Frostgrave, I was going to convert her to match the Frost Giant Jarl from "Giants Revisited"...then realized I misremembered the art, and she already WAS based off that piece. So she got a heavy infantry makeover:
  17. There's no major theme between this set, other than that they'd make one strange adventuring party. First off we have the LATEST version of Ajaxxus Skiotho, Tiefling Barbarian. I think he's been re-done more times than I've actually played him:
  18. My most recent painting focus was on some randomish 40k and sci-fi stuff, aimed more at RPGs than wargames. Unfortunately, the crazy heat down here has me tackling my light source, and some shots are better than others. First up are the more individual characters, including a face recently returned to the silver screen:
  19. APCs for my 15mm Human marines: And medium tanks for my Robot Legions: All vehicles are converted Matchbox cars.
  20. Here is my first-ever mini! I have a lot to learn, especially about eyes. And about how to get better detail using a phone camera. I whittled the staff down to make a sword.
  21. I finished up some conversions (and standard grunts) I started about two weeks back. With our Reign of Winter game wrapping up, it's always good to have some low level guys. Of course, most of these sculpts are from Bones I (or before), but the extra Bugbears did come with Bones II, so that's sort of progress toward it, right? So, to start, we have the mighty forces of King Togg-Togg (he's the one in the fanciest hat, of course)
  22. I decided with all the doubles of grunts that came with the Bones II Kickstarter, I'd add a bit of variety to them. To be fair, only the Bugbears came (again) with Bones II, the Orcs were sitting in a trade box and I thought I'd have some to be more traditional Orcs than my Warhammer apemen collection for D&D games (or they could always serve as Hobbos or Half-Orcs in a pinch) I think the Bugbear King (with greataxe) came out the best so far.
  23. I have yammered at some length about various projects I've done lately, and have gotten some questions, as well as "pics or it didn't happen." So here's some stuff from recent, and some stuff from not so recent that I've TALKED about recently. The Hall of Heroes: All modded from currently available Reaper figures; at least I THINK they're all currently available; can't remember about Conan, though. Fafhrd is modified to put a poniard in his left hand rather than a shield; the Gray Mouser likewise, to get rid of a gem in his left hand and replace it with a throwing dagger. That, and his sword
  24. Could not find a good Tengu model so I made one out of green stuff and an old Beastman model. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/739751_10200432138552629_593934886_o.jpg
  25. Aside from plotting which figures will be getting the first splashes of paint, I've spent a good bit time thinking about which will go under the blade. The main fantasy archetype that seems to be missing to me is a monk PC. The minis that I think might have some potential for a monk conversion are: the crouching ranger from heroes, the gnome wizard from the new 30, the male pirate hoisting the treasure chest, the hellborn wizard, and Juliette. The issue is that most of the humanoid adventurer types are heavily armored. I could also see robbing the wood elf sergeant of the top of his
