  1. Part of my Beneath the Waves Project. WIP: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88958-beneath-the-waves-by-glitterwolf/page/6/#comments Design: EPIC MINIATURES Printed on ELEGOO MARS.
  2. I got this one printed out in FDM from a kickstarter. In hindsight I should have chosen resin, it did help me decide to go for a resin printer myself. The printlines are visible and it's rough, I even used putty to smooth things out where I could. All in all a nice sculpt though. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/88958-beneath-the-waves-by-glitterwolf/page/5/
  3. Howdy, Patagonian Toothfish... Kev!
  4. This past week I painted up the Goroloth (or "Sharktopus", as I like to call it. ) from the Bones 2, Expansion Set #1. I didn't do anything fancy, just painted it to a tabletop quality.
  5. I finished! Unfortunately he doesn't fit in my light box quite right so I had to just use my blanket as a back drop. The lighting could be better also. Overall I'm really happy with him. Spoiled for big pictures.
  6. I started painting Dagon a few days ago. He's very much still in the beginning stages. All my paints are MSP unless otherwise specified. Here's what I've done so far: Washed and blue liner-ed and started a base coat of Marine Teal. Then a little more work on the fins with Twilight Purple, Gem Purple, and Amethyst Purple but they have a long way to go still.
  7. Standby for massive dump in 3... 2... 1... Chopping this up into a few pieces for easy posting/consumption. Where I've been: Video games (Xumenicus#1118, if you're on Battle.net), bought a new house, running a fly fishing tournament for a treehugger non-profit, part-running my treehugger fly fishing non-profit local chapter, some other random stuff, and yeah -- here we are. I promise to paint more. Seriously. I just need to paint and sculpt more. I also need to fish more. And game more. I guess this is a thing: Apparently, I need deadlines in order to get an
  8. It's been a while since I painted some Reaper mini's... but now that this little sweetheart crawled upon my doorstep, I really couldn't resist assembling him hoping to start painting soon. It'll be a little longer than 7 days I'm sure, and I have to hide him from my 3-year-old daughter... (to avoid her having nightmares)... but I'm glad I can finally start :-) It's also gonna be the first Bones fig I'm painting... and I'm pretty excited to try it out :-) Btw, compliments to the creators of this figure, what a lovely sculpt and concept!!
  9. Basecoated this guy to figure out what color scheme i wanted to do. I rather like the olive and red
  10. Hey guys back again and this time I painted the mighty verocithrax this amazing figure was very exciting to paint I decided to emulate Koi carp in painting the dragon I feel it fits well! As always comments are wanted and appreciated!
  11. After receiving my Krackotoans from Dragon Bait, I thought I'd work on a bunch of related undersea encounters (mostly from Bones)
  12. This is another fishy Tiik monster, this one Reaper's 77212, Tiik Baron. He was part of my year-end Conga Line of Finishing Up Half-Done Minis. There is an old WIP here. I was never quite able to make out what the thing on his left gills I painted red was. I think it might be a hermit crab in a shell. Earlier cousin Tiik figures here and here.
  13. While not the first started, this is my first finished from the Bones II Kickstarter. This mini is huge, the size of a small dragon. As usual, I am lazy-arsed about basing and have simply painted up the base as-is. Comments and criticisms honestly appreciated. WIP thread here.
  14. Normally I'd title this a little simpler but Marineal's gorgeous Tiik Champion is nearby and I'd rather people not confuse the two. So this is my Tiik Champion. Nothing fancy about the basing; it's on a 1.5-inch fender washer for extra stability, painted illusionistically like sand. WIP thread here.
  15. These are the two fish-goons that accompany the Tiik Champion figure. I painted one of them inspired by a goldfish (although, as usual, I meandered down different inspirations during the painting), the other by the common greenish lake fish of my middle youth. The whitish eyes are inspired by the slightly nightmarish cooked fish eyes on the whole fish served in my childhood. WIP thread here.
  16. I'm painting up some aquatic PCs and monsters for upcoming ocean adventures. I had primed and glued these to fender washers for bases last year, but only just got started painting them. At that time I was priming Bones with a mixed brown of Burnt Umber and Titanium White, then washing over them with Burnt Umber to bring out the details. These days I think using just plain Reaper's Brown Liner is simpler and works better. The two Tiik Warriors are based on one-inch washers and the Champion is on a 1.5-inch washer. One fish-man is going to be greenish. I'm not really basing it o
  17. I was searching about for a fourth mini to slap some paint on for the RPChallenge this month and came across this guy in the beauty pageant thread. "He's a really neat sculpt," I thought. "I bet I could do some really kick-elf lighting effects with his lure." The banded mail greens are various blends of 29846 Spruce Green and some other assorted greens and yellows, which is a really fantastic nigh-turquoise color. Glazing a purple over it gives you a rather neat effect. A lot of the fishy-color is 29811 Turf Green, because why not? I have these Bones II colors sitting out, I might as w
  18. Welcome again friends to some more 4-5 hour tabletop painting. Darkshade Raider. This sculpt is metal and is so eerily thin that when you get it in your hands it is quite strange looking. When I examined this sculpt I didn't like her so much as a Dark Elf, but more as a Vampiric Assassin. I don't know why I thought that, but it probably has to do with the kama's. I went ahead and tried to give her the look of a (former) living drow but give her a touch of undeath. The quality of the casting wasn't so great with respect to the facial details as you might see in the online store so I had som
