  1. These maginificent minis were donated by @malefactus to add to my Lost World Project. WIP Here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=109 Eureka Miniatures ( Pond Wars Range). I painted the Frog riders as Poison Dart Frogs and the Toad mounts as Bombina Orientalis ( Chinese Firebelly Toads). I had both as pets in my youth. Here is the unit, and in the latter pics on my Jungle Photobackdrop Board. EDIT : I wasn't completely satisfied with Red Frog, so a little Vallejo Heavy Warm Grey and some Reaper Sample Paint for his mouth.

    44024 Giant Frogs (Bones Black)

Some quick work to get these on the table. They look good at arm's length, but a lot of the highlights are really rough, etc. I'm quite pleased with the eyes, as they were very quickly done and worked on the first go. I do need to clean up the bases a bit, add a little flock or something; I'll eventually do that with a batch of other tabletop figs. These are maybe the fifth or so figures I've painted of the Bones Black material. I like it a bunch, it's easier to deal with in pretty much every way than regular Bonesium, with the possible exception of mass material removal. Mold line cleanup is almost like working with metal, and the plastic is far less hydrophobic than regular Bonesium (note: "less hydrophobic" is not the same as "not hydrophobic").
  3. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/674003445/resin-rolljordan-necro-and-volmarian-dwarf-fantasy WHAT IS THIS KICKSTARTER ABOUT? This KickStarter is a joint venture between Royal Art Games and Impact! Miniatures to bring two incredible looking metal Fantasy Football teams from Rolljordan into affordable resin for about half the price of the metal teams to give more gamers the opportunity to own these great models. The resin versions of these models will be molded from the re-touched masters that Rolljordan produced to make this a better more pitch-worthy team than when it was first released. The miniatures will be offered in Standard team which have everything you need to have a full team and Deluxe versions that will give you sideline characters (like cheerleaders) and star players. The KickStarter is bringing the Necro Undead and Volmarian Dwarf teams into resin. The KickStarter is also offering the teams from the last joint venture KickStarter at great prices. Here are the team and pack selections for the KickStater. The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The Deluxe team is the Standard team plus this Deluxe pack The miniatures in the four teams are the new resin that Impact! started using this year that is stronger and able to be painted much easier than our past resin. The miniatures all come with bases and are provided unpainted. The miniatures will require light clean up and some assembly (although many of the models are one piece). Impact! Miniatures has created several KickStarters and delivered to all backers on all our previous KickStarters so bid with confidence. We are keeping this KickStarter small and focused so that we can quickly produce the teams and get them shipped out on time. NOTE on shipping: Shipping options are displayed when you pledge for a reward. Shipping is free to the USA, $5 to Canada and $10 to all other locations.
  4. I'm working on a bunch of Bones and Bones II figures with an aquatic theme. Among them are these three frog creatures, two warriors and a shaman or druid who is itself wearing a frog skull as a helmet. Pretty neat, actually. Anyhow, here they are primed with Reaper's Brown Liner (Buglips' great discovery). They are pretty sizable, so I decided to paint them as leopard frogs rather than poison dart tree frogs. Leopard frogs were the frogs where I grew up, and I have a fondness for them. A screen grab of reference pix: To begin with, I mixed a bright poison green and painted their heads, backs, and limbs with it -- basically everything that isn't going to be the soft white underbelly.
  5. And now for a more whimsical piece. When the traveling box of sir Forscale came to me, Froggy the great had been there before me and left a few magical treasures. Among these were a bunch of created Frogmen (in the very literal sense) in high tech suits sporting these sci-fi weapons (modified clubs but none less) a great conversion, but where to use them? Then I got my bones 2 and the answer presented itself. The tribal society of the treefrogs has been shaken by war and invasion from the modern race of warfrogs. battle rages on turning swamp into disaster area over and over. Finally ground troops march to push the savages back into the dry land where they belong. But lo! a hero arises (we know he's a hero because he has a white cowboy hat) the Mystical shaman Croak with his acolytes hops to meet with the invaders and put a stop to the violence. They meet for the first time on the tatters of a once beautiful swamp, now rendered a wasteland by constant bombing. The base is a complete cast of the "balls of Steel" mold from Basius 1. it prints really well although it helps to preload the balls with extra molding compound or they come out sort of flat on top. the muck was supposed to be clear water but apparently "clear" aluminite resin has an expiration that they don't tell you about and it went white, so it was either redo the mold or go with it. I may do some more blending but I like the effect. Anyway, hope you like it. I see there is need for a few touch ups on the base after taking the picture...

    Killer Frogs (02665)

I finally got back to work, this weekend, on some minis. These I started and finished in the last few days. Jason Wiebe's Killer Frogs, from Reaper. Purchased, to be honest, solely because they were one of two Reaper products the FLGS carried, heh. Hoping they'll restock. But they inspired me a bit and will be making an appearance in the PF game I'm running. Anywho, I enjoyed painting them. I did pretty much everything with GW washes aside from some highlighting with a yellow on each and the black slits for their eyes. Oh, and the bases I washed with Reaper's brown wash. Was unsure how exactly to approach the leaper's support piece so aimed for simple. Tried different colors on them--got a little hypno-toad with one, lol. But I'm really pleased with them, so hope you enjoy them, too. I'm (of necessity) trying to figure out some better photography, also, so apologies for some oddness on that front. Thanks for looking! Any input or advice or anything you have, about anything, is most welcome.
