  1. Ladless and Gentlemints, I've been kicking this idea around for a while now. And with the current isolation I think it's a great time. I propose a craft paint challenge. I have tons of great miniature paints from various brands, but for the sake of fun lets see what we can do with craft paints. This is my proposal. Grab a random miniature, Bones or otherwise, and ideally whatever craft paints you have on hand (no going to the store for craft paints, this is to promote social distancing) and see what you can do. This will serve two purposes. It will be a fun way to throw some paint on a miniature, and hopefully we can also show a lot of people that while specialized paints are amazing, you can also get decent results on a budget. If you aren't into miniature painting, and still want to throw some craft paints on canvas or paper or whatever then that would be great as well. I encourage everyone who feels it to jump in on this. Also what do you think about #craftpaintchallenge for tagging. Please post results on here and other social media. Lets see how much love we can get, and how far this will go. Official/unofficial start date of 4/11. And lets go. Cheers.
  2. This is another bogle for Monster Blood Tattoo though it happens to look a lot like an especially large werewolf. First the sculpt: Although fur is often difficult to clean the parting line on this one was largely invisible to begin with. Second the paint: It lent itself to a simple drybrush, but I've gone for such dark colors it doesn't show up in the photo. Third the question: I just glued it to a round base today and can't decide how I should finish the base. It's going to be used in tabletop skirmish games so it doesn't need anything fancy. I just can't decide between gluing on sand and little rocks, applying resin sand gel, or using Apoxie Sculpt to build up the circular base to the level of the stock base. Opinions? Pros & cons?
  3. This is one of my favourite minis and I have been working on it for awile. I hmmd and hawd about how to base it but finalluy decided to do a simple raised cork base.
  4. Hadn't painted metal in a while... it was refreshing!
  5. Painted up this cool dwarf. Went for an icy look and I'm really happy with how he turned out. Critiques and advice are always welcome! Thanks in advance!
  6. Painted this swarthy looking dwarf up for a sorcerer character I'm planning on playing at some point. I'm really happy with how he turned out. My wife actually suggested the shock of white hair on the top of his head, which ended up being my favorite part. Critiques and advice are always welcome, thanks in advance!
  7. Hi i pre-ordered a Valeros Iconic fighter v1 at our local game store, i would like to ask if there is assemble required with mini beside the base assembly? Do still need to pin some parts of the mini? Tnx
  8. I took these pictures during the WIP phase of my gift for Fealron.
  9. Wanted to try something different with this paladin looking fig. I figured the most opposite thing of a paladin would be a drow warlock, so I just went from there. I kept everything pretty simple, but spent a decent amount of time on the cloak and flaming sword. Very happy with the results, comments and advice are always welcome! Thanks in advance!
  10. This was one of two figures I painted for @Fealron for the Secret Sophie this year. His ideas were Metal, minimal basing for gaming use, a woodland creature, usually considered good but turned to evil, and a minion of a necromancer. After thinking a while, I decided I could knock out all his ideas with some evil unicorns. Here is the second. Maybe once the prior unicorn charmed by a necromancer does, he raised it as a skeleton, and put another minion on top. Here are the WIP shots: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/90618-02631-skeletal-cavalry-project-2-of-2-for-fealron/ I magnetized the mount and rider. I had a lot of fun with these, and definitely bittersweet to part with them! Thanks for looking. C&C Welcome
  11. Here is the first. I envisioned a unicorn charmed by a necromancer that tramples a virgin, staining it black. That taint would spread from the hooves, causing a grayscale, with only a few remnants of white/color where the corruption is still incomplete. Here are the WIP shots: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/90564-starmane-unicorn-02151-project-1-of-2-for-fealron/ I’ll post the fiction a little later when I’m at my desktop. C&C Welcome.
  12. Another mini which has been done for a while: a raptor. This was meant for a module that uses a raptor hatchling as an animal companion for a kobold Ranger. Here is a link to the WIP. https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/87634-14475-warlord-raptor-reptus/&tab=comments#comment-1856740 C&C welcome.
  13. Hey everyone! It's been forever since my last Show Off, I finally got around to upgrading my painting space with a nice lamp so I actually have decent lighting now. This is a fig for my Goliath character in a D&D game. There is a pretty bad mold line that I didn't notice until after painting, but at that point it was too late to scrape off. Overall I'm pretty happy with him and am looking forward to posting again! Comments and advice are always welcome! Thanks!
  14. Latest tormentor for my D&D group. Legs were a bit wonky to put together but I got them in the end. What do you think?
  15. Since I hadn't seen many other paint jobs go by I thought people might like to see my goblin in power armor. And a blood nebula mercenary for scale.
  16. Just a little something I got finished yesterday, hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, be safe if you're venturing out on Black Friday.
  17. Warren of Vile Fungi is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm EST on Friday, November 1. It will include over 2 dozen individual fungoid-based miniatures developed and sculpted by Pedro Navarro. He's been working on this project for over 2 years in collaboration with Mortal Arrow. It's a deep dive into heroic, fantastic, and terrifying fungal beings from the 1970's to the present. Ascomoids, Gas Spores, Basidironds, Ustilagors, corrupted Myconids, and heroic Myconids are just some of the many hand-sculpted miniatures from Pedro. The project itself will be live for only 2 weeks, so please consider supporting this effort by Mortal Arrow and Pedro Navarro. Every little bit of aid is important to us, so we kindly ask that you follow this project at the link below: https://www.kickstarter.com/…/12638849…/warren-of-vile-fungi You can see more details about the miniatures on the Mortal Arrow Facebook and Pedro's blog here: http://mr-bugman.blogspot.com/ We will be posting details and updates on this thread as well. Thanks in advance for everyone's help and enthusiasm!!! We are very excited to bring scary, and heroic, fungi to peoples around the globe!!
  18. So I've always have had problems pinning a round object, more or less trying to get the pin vise/drill into the round part of the piece. In this instance, the round part is the hand of the river troll 14008 (Warlord line). The wrist has a perfect indentation for the "ball" of the hand. With having to travel to play & such & of course actual gameplay I don't trust superglue alone. Any tips?
  19. Statuesque Miniatures Ok. We're all set. The Kickstarter launches on Tuesday! It's not a massively long campaign, so tell everyone! Your friends, your family, even your enemies - maybe they just need tiny metal toys in their lives and will forever more be much better people! You'll be able to grab the full set of miniatures or choose from smaller sets in any combination. There will also be a very limited number of hand-finished (by me) sets just like the miniatures in the photos. The perfect labour-free gift for yourself or someone you love. Awwww.
  20. These savages are on Kickstarter. My first Kickstarter! There are all kinds of add ons lurking in here too. Thanks Reaper for providing this forum! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1648985407/rise-of-the-powrie?ref=creator_nav
  21. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/554542735/space-raiders-the-space-goblins?ref=creator_nav&fbclid=IwAR2h-8VsOTVqQQ_gMAqIGt7JgDvMDxwHvFgWQzDCAKXjyUCuYXr2m1TbpFY Space Riders "The Space Goblins!" This is the 4th chapter in the Space Raiders range. Bringing miniatures with the classic late 80's and early 90's oldschool look and cast in metal (except for those especified). This time focusing on the Space Goblins and the Mind Controllers. They will the perfect reinforcements for your classic armies or maybe you'll start right from here! You can see more pics of all of them at my Facebook group, Space Raiders:https://www.facebook.com/groups/775315502580794/ The new Goblins and orc arms are sculpted by the goblin master himself KEVIN ADAMS, while the Mind controller is no other than Bob Olley! Two true oldhammer legends!
  22. Okay I might have a problem when it comes to collecting and painting dragons. They fascinate me. This dragon has been produced by many companies, I think Dark Sword holds the rights at this point but it was also produced by RAFM and Ral Partha and probably others as well. She is a small thing but still fun and relatively simple to paint up. The dragon back has a very fine scale texture making the wide expanse of a back difficult to display (for her brothers and sisters I will probably incorporate some sort of design) properly. Hope you enjoy
  23. Just a few more pieces that I completed over the memorial day weekend. The problem with these show offs is I don't usually get to post them until after the thread wraps up... Fun to paint and a really great sculpt, I didn't do the piece justice but I do like how it turned out. It did give me a chance to practice my flame and yellows and reds. Hope you like it too!
  24. So I used to paint a ton, but that was maybe 10 years ago. I just started getting back into the hobby and I've run into an issue. Reaper used to make metal bases that were recessed. I know they sold them in square, maybe 1" or so. I'm pretty confident that they also sold them in round, but I'm not 100% on that. Now I've been working on a mini project and the base that comes with the figure is abysmal. I was really hoping I could just clip the fig off the existing base and with the help of a little green stuff put it on a new metal base. I really prefer the feel and weight that a metal base would add to the figure. It appears now that Reaper isn't selling those bases anymore. Does anyone know where I could either find some old inventory and pick up a handful of them, or does anyone know of another source that makes a similar product?
  25. I Don't have much to go on with this dragon. its another one that has been sitting half finished on my shelf forever. the bottom has some script on the bottom that looks like FWS and an 8. other than that I don't have any clue where it comes from. but I finally dusted the mini off, freshened up the red (It was becoming a pink dragon) and decided to display it here. hope everyone enjoys!
