  1. Chaoswolf

    Ral Partha female barbarian

This is an old Ral Partha barbarian from 1984. Simple, tabletop paint job as usual; I did do her skin a slightly darker tone, though. I figured if she spends any appreciable amount of time outside in that outfit, she'd be a little darker. Please let me know what you think.
  2. Chaoswolf

    Chronopia Ogre/Demon

Another old figure from Target games Chronopia line. This one is a demon of some sort, so I painted it up as a follower of Khorne (GW's god of war and battle). I free handed the shield device, and even managed to get the eyes looking fairly decent. I also tried to work a little more on shading and highlighting red with this figure. Maybe a little above tabletop? Let me know what you think, please. Blood for the Blood God!!!
  3. Chaoswolf

    Chronopia Elven Axeman

This is a figure from Target games' Chronopia line; if I remember correctly, he's an axeman leader. His chain mail coif covers his ears, and with all the spikes and that brutal looking axe, I figured he would make a worthy addition to my Warriors of Chaos horde. Please let me know what you think.
  4. Chaoswolf

    Yuan-Ti Pureblood (repainted DDM)

This a Dungeons and Dragons prepainted miniature that I have repainted. I kept the colors close to what the figure originally came with from the factory, I just tried to neaten things up. I have no idea why she had purple hair, but I went with it. Maybe it's the whole 'dangerous/poisonous things are brightly colored in nature' thing? I used a lot of different things on the base; I wanted her to look like she was moving through an area of swamp/jungle. Tabletop paint job; I figure she'll look pretty good as the leader of a snake/lizard themed warband for song of Blades and Heroes. C&C is always welcome.
  5. Chaoswolf

    Grenadier male human thief

This figure was sculpted for Grenadier in 1991 by Julie Guthrie. If I remember correctly, he's a thief, but I think he'd also work well as a pirate, although he's based in a rather non-nautical fashion. I tried something different when I did his skin, how do you think it looks? He's done to table top level; C&C is welcome.
  6. Chaoswolf

    Rasputin--Hero Clix repaint

This is an old hero-clix figure that I acquired somewhere along the line. It's supposed to be Rasputin, but I figured he had 'evil cultist' written all over him. He was fairly quick to paint; all I did was touch up the (sloppy) factory paintjob and change the color of the pentagram and dragon on his chest. The base was carved/sculpted to look like a castle/dungeon floor. He's done to table top, as usual. Let me know what you think. Front: No back shot; it's a black robe. This is a slightly better shot of his base.
  7. This is an old mage knight figure; it's an 'Amazon Mancatcher'. I've got a couple more copies of this one that will all be converted eventually. She's armed with an absolutely ridiculous weapon; I cut that off and re-armed her with a trident from the bits box; I figured that with the net in her other hand, she'd make an interesting gladiator. The base is supposed to be sand, does it look alright? Table top paint job; let me know what you think, please.
  8. Chaoswolf

    Ral Partha Female Wizard

This is an old Ral Partha female mage. I think she may have been the low level version from one of their old 3 stage character sets, but I'm not certain. If so, she's the only one I have. Painted for table top. Please let me know what you think.

Speed paint: old GW monopose skaven

'Damn it all' said Rolf as trudged through the rancid sewer tunnel. Their patrol was almost over, and here he was investigating some noise that the sergeant had heard. He shouldn't have made that crack about the man's sister. He could still barely hear the others back at the junction talking while they waited for him. 'Damn it all' he said again softly. 'There's nothing here', he thought to himself, 'I'm going back.' Wait....what was that? An enormous hole gaped in the side of the sewer passage. He raised his lantern to get a better loo and found himself staring face to face with a rat. Except that this rat stood on legs, like a man. Suddenly, he felt a scabrous hand press over his mouth from behind as the things sword slid into his guts. ================================================================================================================= This is a figure that I got in a box with a bunch of other figures; it was severely damaged; someone had attacked it with clippers and half severed it's tail, face, and broken off the right arm. I initially used it practice working with green stuff, once it was repaired, I figured I'd throw some paint at it. This is what I managed to do in a little over 2 hours this afternoon.
  10. Chaoswolf

    Grenadier male thief

This is an old Grenadier figure I've had hanging around on my shelf of shame for ever. I don't know if I stopped liking the sculpt as mush as I did when I first got it, or my paint scheme was lousy, or what, but he's been about 75% painted for about 12 years. I pulled him down and decided to finish him up yesterday. I touched up a few things about his old paint job, finished him off and based him. It's only done to table top levels, but at least he's (finally) done.

    77161 Bones Ghost King

Here's the Bones ghost king I finished last night. He's done to a decent table-top standard (I hope). The base was kind of messed up, so I cut him off of it and mounted him on a resin base. It's 'cursed mountain' by ID Works, but I think they may be OOP now, since the website was closed down when I tried to google them. I got 10 of them for $3-4 all together from FRP games. I added a little bit of GS at the bottom of his robes so they overlapped the base (mostly near the skulls) and he didn't look like he was quite so 'flat'. Front: Back: Close up of base: I couldn't get a decent shot of his face, but imagine a hellish red glow radiating from his eyes. It is there, I promise. What do you think?
  12. A long time ago, Ral Partha came out with '3 stage characters'; the same character at low, mid, and high levels. This is the low level female fighter. I have the other 2 as well; you'll see them sooner or later. Standard table top paint job. Let me know what you think.
  13. I got this figure as part of a 'grab bag'; she was missing her base and her right hand. I did a pretty hamfisted attempt at sculpting her a new hand; to hide the worst of it, I gave her a hand crossbow from the bits box. Looking at the finished figure, I now realized that I should have cut the stock off of her crossbow. Oh well, live and learn; i think it looks alright as is. Standard table top paint job. Tell me what you think. I need to work on eyes a lot more.

GW Great Unclean One (pic heavy)

This is a Great Unclean One, a greater deamon of the Chaos god Nurgle. His purview is rot and disease. I've been working on this off and on for the better part of this year; I wanted to do the best job I possibly could on this guy. There are still a few things I could improve, and I missed a mold line or 2; I tried to work those in to the sculpt with my paint job. C&C is very much welcome on this one. A face only a mother could love: And the snake-tongue which actually supposed to be coming out of his mouth. Of course it broke when I tried to get a picture.

    Horror challenge

Ok, fair warning: the image below is truly the most horrifying thing you'll ever see. It is not for the squeamish. Click the spoiler at your own risk. You were warned. The resolutionary horror challenge was to paint a non standard scary critter. I pushed the boundaries on that a little bit ( ok, a lot). I figure that no kind of monster is really all that scary; after all if it bleeds we can kill it, right? What I painted is much worse than that.

    Repainted DDM Ogre Ravager

This is a DDM prepainted figure, the Ogre Ravager that I repainted. The only thing I changed was to cut off all the blood drops that were on the axe blade and his leg. I painted him last weekend during Inarah's paint binge. The stone with the runes on it is a press mold I made of part a resin base to add a little detail to the base. Front: Back: Close up of face and axe; I tried to go for a rusty look to the weapon.

    15mm Aztecs as Fey

Oh my god! This thread is crawling with brownies!! Willow, anyone? Anyway, I grabbed a couple of 15mm Aztecs from the last round of the Box of Good Will with the intent of using them as fey-folk, and here they are. I painted them during Inarah's paint binge last weekend. I wasn't too sure what to do about the shields, so I painted the shields as buttons. I know that at this scale they'd have had to get them off of a Titan or something, but rule of cool. With a Bones goblin lurking behind them to give a sense of scale.
  18. These are a set of graveyard decor I purchased a couple decades ago; I pulled 'em out and had a go at speed painting the whole lot, it probably took about 10 hours all together. I was doing fairly well the first night, then I started to get all fiddly with them. You can still get these from Scotia Grendel; their website says that they are resin. These are not, they are some kind of plaster. I did NOT buy them from Scotia Grendel; my best guess is that these are some kind of knock-off. The finger prints you might see on some of the pieces are not mine; they are part of the cast. Anyway, they're not great, but they'll look fine on the table top. 'Come along, then,' the aged and stooped groundskeeper says. 'It won't do to have any of you get lost in here, especially with the night approaching.' 'Here we come across the resting place of Darius Vamdrin, the duke's third son, slain 9 winters ago by orc raiders' 'The next site we come to is the burial place of the husband and wife adventuring team of Borgrim Swiftsteel and Amri Eshalka. They were a part of the band that aided our fair city in throwing off the yoke of the dreaded overlord.' 'Stay together, now. We're getting to the older part of the cemetary.' 'This lonely stone marks the resting place of Crothian Silvereye, whose murder was the cause of the riots that eventually brought the dread overlord to power.' 'Finally, over here we have...oh dear. Ah...step this way, if you please.' 'What's that, dear child?' 'Of course that grave hasn't been dug out of, this must be the work of grave robbers'. The old man glances around, into the deepening gloom, 'Ah...how many were with the group when we started out?'
  19. I picked this fellow out of the Box of Goodwill when it got back to me. It had already been worked on 'with some enamels a long, long time ago' by Thes Hunter. I liked the look of what was already going on, so I made a few tweaks and did a few touch ups to finish him off.

Repainted DDM Snig the Axe (goblin)

I repainted this DDM figure to go along with my other Bones goblins. He's pretty close to the right size, and he adds a little variety to the group.

    Mage Kight Orc repaint

I originally posted the WIP over here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/60174-mage-knight-orcs-conversionrepaint/?hl=%2Bmage+%2Bknight+%2Borcs Two of them are still being worked on, but I finally finished this guy off.

    Grenadier Halfling Ranger/Archer

Painted for the June resolutionary challenge, I submit to you 1 halfling archer made by Grenadier 30+ years ago. Please let me know what you think.
  23. This is my 'bard' for May's resolutionary painting challenge. He's from Grenadiers' old 'Future Warriors' range by Mark Copplestone. Normally, I wouldn't consider him done 'cause he's not based, but I have a few other band members from the same range; I haven't decided yet if I want to use them all together in a vignette/diorama, so I left him unbased. Heck, he's not even glued to the base yet. Some notes: I tried some freehand on the front of his t-shirt. I used decals for the back and his tattoo. I did a few glazes to try and blend it in to the skin on his arm. Please tell me that you can make out what the shirt says without checking the spoiler.

    WOTC Chainmail Crested FellDrake

This cute little fella is a Crested Felldrake made by WoTc for their Chainmail line of figures. I painted him up during the paint binge. You can't tell from the pictures (and I took a ton trying to get some decent ones) but his eyes are painted. C&C is welcome.

    Grenadier Halfling Thief

An old school Grenadier Halfling thief, painted up during Inarah's Memorial Day weekend weekend painting binge. I finally finished the basing last night. C&C is welcome, thanks for looking.
