I’ve been in a rut for the last few months not producing or working on anything. Partly too busy over the holidays and partly feeling uninspired. I want to get back into it, so to that end I’m going to do something different and pretty and light-hearted. I present “Fade” from Mirico. She’s a gorgeous bust with very striking details and a lot of room to interpret artistically. I hope you all enjoy the WIP while you follow along and please feel free to offer your comments and critiques!

Another monster for my Lost World Project Project here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/ This is a 15mm miniature from Demonworld, since it is really huge I use it for my 28mm project. That is a Microart Studio resin jungle base 3 x 2 inch! I tried to emulate the metallic sheen that some beetles have on this scorpion. Using different metallics and then some inks and black glazing. Enjoy. Likes and comments welcome,if you want to throw

As I'm sure most of you do in these exchanges, I end up picking parts of the request to focus on. In this case I went with a winter base and OSL. Generally when we think of OSL we think of a mini painted with a zenithal light source and then the OSL is a secondary light source that colors part of the mini. I decided to do something different though and make the OSL my primary light source. Initially I wasn't going to have any secondary lighting, but that made things a bit boring from certain angles so I added in some moonlight. In the scene below the primary light source is the end of

I managed to get my winter exchange piece and gifts to vegascat in time for Christmas. Since he sent me a heartfelt thank you directly and I know she made it I wanted to post up some of the photos I took before mailing her off. I will let vegascat share photos of the gifts if he chooses and just post the painted miniature. I had alot of fun painting her up and quite enjoyed keeping her to a limited palette. I am happy he likes her and that she made it safely during a busy mail time. Here she is on her scenic base alongside the Golem Familiar from 02826. And I wanted to keep her

I finished another recruit for my Lost World Project. This time the Bones Lizardman Warrior sculpted by Ben Siens. WIP is here for those interested: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-army-of-the-lost-world-xherman1964-paints-coldblooded-creatures/ He is based on a Resin Jungle Base from Micro Art Studios. I'm less happy with him because of lack of detail in the face area. Big Bones are great and well detailed, some of the smaller can lack some detail. But he will do, He will be a grunt in the army so nothing

END OF THE HUNT She stood overlooking the battlefield below her, finally reaching her objective... the ancient burial site of the most legendary of barbarians... Her scythe gleamed in the sunlight and blood dropped off its keen edge, her mask that she wore to strike even more fear into the hearts of her enemies hid her predatory smile, once the site was excavated she'd be nearly invincible and her enemies would fall before her like wheat... This figure is a commission piece I did for a good friend and client, I was given a lot of leeway on how to paint her up. Really only wanted me

I was heavily inspired with Malefactus work and I wanted to paint a Goblin old style and sculpt / add some mushrooms. The Goblin is from Metal Magic ( now OOP). The Mushrooms , some are sculpted ( the larger and the round ones) and the pointy ones are Resin from Ristul's Market. My WIP for those interested. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/66981-goblin-with-mushrooms-metal-magic-by-xherman1964/?hl=bagpipe The little guy has just consumed some mushrooms for inspiration on his latest musical creation. I wonder if the other G

I painted this up a few days ago. I really like this sculpt! Very heroic. I wanted to get her tabletop ready, and my bedroom lighting did my cell phone photos no favors. I'm still trying to develop that level before I try anything I'd truly want to display. Or a dragon. I have one, but I'm intimidated by it. Anyway! Enjoy this heroic lady admiring her gigantor-sword.

This is the Blacksting Wyvern figure. I'm of two minds about this one. First off, most of the effort went into the basing...which was built up from basla, cork and lots of slate. I wanted a broken mountaintop look, and I think it turned out OK. On the other hand, for the actual figure, I liked everything about the sculpt except the wings. Because of the way they were sculpted, the wings looked very "meaty," not "membranous." In the end I just went with it and painted him like he had a couple of juicy steaks hanging off of his shoulders. LOL. Kevin in Edmonton http://www.mageknigh

Got 2 of this action figure and am working on bases for them. I want to have them on 3" bases, but that's kinda tricky since the toy has a wide stance to rival that old Grenadier frost giant. So the first one will be on an angle. Some styrofoam rocks and sand for the lava. I didn't get pics of all the steps but it's the "Hot Lava Bases" method by Mark Craggs 'Klute' on CMoN. While I like most of the paint enough to leave it Factory, I tore the head off the fig and will try to make the beard look fiery. Second one will be on a level, but more elevated base.
