  1. So I finally fell into the temptation and got my first ground based sci fi minis!(I do have spaceships.) A Cataphract, conquerer , and a halberd by Reaper minis came in with my horsman today! Sadly the halberd is missing a piece so it may in end up being returned. So my first order of business was a small conversion to the cataphract Before conversion And the conquerer has donated the necessary parts for said conversion, specifically his smaller missile pods. A bit of work with an exacto knife removed said weapons. And a bit more exacto work to mak
  2. I was cleaning up behind my barn and found this half-buried in the dirt. Was just on the way to throwing it out when I just couldn't. So I washed most of the dirt off, and cut a base from scrap plywood I had, and away I go! I actually have a semi-solid plan. I want to knock this one out fast, first of all, so maybe it'll get done this year (ideally before spring or even March, but I know how things go). I want it to evoke a few things without quite indicating any of them. The Tyrell building from Blade Runner is a big one. The magitek factory from Final Fantasy VI is another. But I als
  3. This is a Cataphract mech by Reaper minis from Cav with added missile pods from a conquerer mech. Paints used: Vallejo paints white surface primer Olive Green Dark Brown Oily Steel, Gunmetal Testors paints, Gi. Red Flat steel Model Masters paints, Gun Metal, Burnt Iron Other colors Burnt Umber and Black. Man! I didn’t realize I used that many colors on this thing! Enough about paint! Time for pictures! I have enjoyed painting this up and even got to try something new. T
  4. If you like scifi, this looks like a good one and reasonably priced too. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/292543184/starfolke
  5. EDIT: This kickstarter is now Live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cmon/zombicide-invader "Humans came to PK-L7 in search of high powered fuel. They found it with Xenium, a dark, oily compound deep below the planet’s surface. But they found something else too. The Xenos attack was brutal and unrelenting, and they’re still coming. On April 10 at 3pm EST, Zombicide: Invader is coming to Kickstarter. Follow the CMON and Guillotine Games Facebook pages for regular updates on the Survivors, Xenos, Equipment, and Environments of this interstell
  6. This is something I started working on a looong time ago. I finally made the push to get it done and get it out--probably donating it to one of the FLGSs. WIP here: https://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/87566-ruined-building-terrain-pic-heavy-ish/ I wasn't trying to get too, too fancy with this. Rather I began with the intent to see how quickly I could make a good enough piece of terrain. Had I not taken a year-long hiatus from it I may have succeeded, as I think that barring drying times I have around. You can see a Bones skele or to lurking around for scale. I was ha
  7. This is just something that's been on the SoS for an embarrassing amount of time. Finally making the effort to finish it up and move on. Materials are corrugated cardboard on a base of stiff cardboard/MDF. Rebar from paperclips. Rocks, gravel, and sand, and a straw for the pipe. Spray primed with black, wet brushed with gray hobby paint. Next will be some highlights and a wash, some vegetation, and done. Reaper Bones skelie for skale! Pardon the rigged light box--lots of other house projects have my hobby room crammed with crap at the moment.
  8. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/reclusivephoenix/slumbering-oblivion-iii-hades-rising Coming off the heels of two successful Kickstarters, Reclusive Phoenix is happy to announce our third project. This is the second project in our Slumbering Oblivion 32mm scale game line and the aim is to produce the human armies to face off against the forces of Cthulhu. The human army is known as H.A.D.E.S. (Human Alliance in Defense of Earth and Sea) and is under the command of the new human alliance called the Aligned Nations of Earth. TL:DR / The Short Story We are trying to fun
  9. So after painting a bunch of fantasy adventurers, I decided I needed a bit of a change of pace. Enter my finds of some IMEF infantrymen and a mech from something I'm not familiar with (all Reaper minis).. and combine that with my extensive experience with military model kits. What you get is this project to paint the IMEF guys in colors inspired by the Japanese Special Naval Landing Forces; one is finished and the others are in progress. The mech is being painted up in camo inspired by Japanese army tank camo colors to make it kind of a matching set. In the last pic you can also

  11. Kickstarter is Live and has reached the initial funding level: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/star-saga-the-sci-fi-dungeon-crawler?ref=nav_search From the Mantic Newsletter: "Star Saga: The Eiras Contract will see players guide a team of space mercenaries on a mission to retrieve stolen data plans from a research facility orbiting a far-off alien world. Players will take on platoons of minions, powerful alien bosses and be forced to make difficult choices as the story takes unexpected twists and turns. The spiritual sequel to Dungeon Saga, Star Saga introduces newly
  12. I have to admit I've never been a fan of flight stands but this figure has such a dynamic pose I bought it. He's painted in Vallejo Amaranth Red (which is actually a bright orange), Army Painter Necromancer Cloak and Army Painter Greedy Gold. He was a bit of a bugger to paint as I kept getting spots of orange on the grey and spots of grey on the orange, so I spent most of my time having to paint over those.
  13. Before I moved I was working on a RPG campaign concept that I have not been able to get off the ground since I moved so thought I'd kick the idea around here in the off chance it might start a fire with someone else ... So the game starts in an alternate reality with the gaming group stating them selves out as starting players, not 100% accurate but an alternate reality version of himself that fits into a starting player profile for whatever game system you like to use ... Once stated out the players will get together for game night, in the alternate reality version
  14. Started building a Kulathi battle force and colony outpost for their Kuden-3 outpost, in the Beehive star cluster, in the crab nebula ... Having 3 fingers a hand and 6 limbs the number system fore the Kulathi is based on 6 ... with 2,3 and 4 also prominent, so I based there units on 6 ... An officer (2 pistols = smg) 3 left hand smg and 2 right hand automatic rifles make a strike team ... no other unit types teams can exceed the number of strike teams. The fire team has 1 officer 1 smg and 4 auto rifles ... a longer ranged bite. I'm also adding

The campaign is already over 1300% financed, and we are working on the 8th Stretch Goal. 16. About THE PROJECT Over the past decade I have directly assisted multiple miniature companies achieve success with their projects. I have both broad and lengthy experience in the miniature industry. My previous work has covered all aspects of miniature production from design to manufacturing, and ranges from working with metal to resin and also plastic materials. 19. Sometimes inspiration strikes and you start fiddling around with an idea without really planning it. This is my second ever piece of terrain, and first one in about 20 years (did a paper towel tube bunker in my teens). Started off with some packaging material, and decided I would make a garage. That then turned into a workshop, and then kept growing. Somewhere I decided that this would be the cyberpunk equivalent to a wizard's tower, by being the home of some sort of technomagus. Also when I paint it, will make more sense with the wizard reference (hint: yellow bricks at the garage
  20. Since I didn't have enough project already... Here is a little something on the side.. Dee Dee Astro Girl. Also starring The Bones Eye Beast who will reluctantly donate it's eyestalks..
  21. Evidently Jerry Pournelle passed away two days ago at home. I quite enjoyed reading his books when I was younger. I may have to go and break a few favorites out of storage.
  22. Kemvar are the third of the starter factions I've painted for MERCS: Recon. They come in the Assassination Protocol starter. Unlike the first 2 factions I painted where I just painted the 5 figures that come in the starter, for Kemvar I also dug out the Spy, Monkeywrench and Sniper, who were stretch goals in the Kickstarter. As with the other factions, these guys are just tabletop, and the bases are kept simple for board game play. If I ever get around to playing the full tabletop skirmish game I might go back and redo the bases.... Here's the pics. (I'm still getting u
