    03492, Autumn Bronzeleaf Elf Wizard

Good Friday everyone. Here is 03492, Autumn Bronzeleaf Elf Wizard Sculpted by Jeff Grace. She's certainly one of the most challenging model I ever paint. The level of detail on this mini is just insane. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

    02771, Lorus Hightower

There is going to be a firework tonight... Firecrackers in Lorus's way. Here is 02771, Lorus Hightower aka Firecracker. This model was sculpted by Sandra Garrity.

    3205 Friar Stone, Traveling Monk

"Bliss" Needed a civilian type for a game, and this was the best I find in my lead mountain. Dunno why, but I keep seeing him as one of those beer-making monks carrying a keg on his back. So I painted him as one who just "sampled" the merchandise and really liked the sample. The nose and cheeks were more "ruddy" IRL but doesn't show up well in the pictures. There is a lightish line at the top of the belly where I tried to repair the paint job after accidently flicking some dark wash on it. The line isn't really visible IRL but clearly seen in the pictures. Thanks for looking. *Edit And if something looked odd with my montage, it's because the second picture got flipped when I was joining the four of them together. Just noticed this.

    Monkey

Presenting the irrepressible Monkey, his group have journeyed to the west to represent the Guild of Harmony's Far East branch in the game Twisted. Was rather intimidated by this guy at the start, the whole set are pretty big on tiny details, but he turned out to be rather straightforward to paint. I've got to stop painting things Andrea Blue until I've figured out how to layer it properly though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Mushroom Men: 77345

Painted up these little guys. They are pretty funny. I might use them as creatures encountered in the Feywild.

    3212. Iltheus, Young Mage.

“OK, so the Fireball spell didn’t work that well. Any other ideas Owl?” “Hoo!? You asking me!? I’m just an owl.” Probably my last mini for the year. Wasn’t planning on painting the cloak brown since it sorta merges with the hair and owl, but a slight accident forced it on me. I like the way it turned out tough. Thanks for looking.

    A nimble Urkin

Presenting Nimble, another member of the gang of Urkins that make up the bulk of the Dickensian faction from the game Twisted. He's got a pretty bad mold-line on his bare foot that I just couldn't get to, luckily it's hard to see. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Frost Giant Queen

I painted this lady both for the Reaper facebook contest and for my Dungeons & Dragons campaign. She was part of Bones 3 and is another example of a really pretty face. I love the whole mini! I didn't want top paint her skin blue but did want her to look cold. I added a little blue to the Reaper pale skin triad. I used Clear Purple to glaze in the shadows and glazed all over with very thinned Clear Blue. I ended up using my favorite colors for her clothes, shocking I know! I used my favorite wolf pelt colors for her cloak. I considered doing a snow leopard type pelt but wasn't sure if the longer fur looked catlike. Who knows, maybe I will have to get a second one and give it a try! She was fun to paint!

    02700, Tox the Wizard

Good friday everyone. It's the second time I paint this model. I got it from a friend after painting the first one, it's such a nice and fun model to paint, I decided it was now time to lay some color on it. I use this guy as a NPC in the DnD games I'm hosting. See the last pictures for comparison. I realise now that the familiar neck is bended bad, it looks like it's grooming its scales. So here it is, 02700, Tox the Wizard sculpted by Sandy Garrity.
  10. Here is the battle mage from Bones 3. He was a lot of fun to paint and I love the pony so much! I want a whole herd of ponies! I painted him up very flamboyantly with bright colors and gave him a pattern on his robe. I also tried doing a worn leather look for his hat. He is so cute! I give you Randalf the Red and his pony Pumpkin.

    Disciple of the Flower Witch

Presenting a Disciple of the Flower Witch (there's five of them but I'm not sure which number this one is), a mysterious denizen of the Kingdom Death world. She's also in my Kingdom Death WIP thread. Not too happy with this one, it turned out to be a much trickier mini to paint than I thought and as a result she's rather rough in places. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Gudridr the Golden by RBG

Gudridr the Golden by RBG Sculpted by Tre Manor Hope everyone enjoys this one. This was a resin miniature from the kickstarter. The base is MDF that I cut in half with my scalpel then applied Greenstuff/Epoxy to and sculpted the brink pattern. The rocks on top are actual rocks and sand. FYI - because it's resin on an MDF base with greenstuff it's super light weight. I didn't like the idea of adding height to the miniature by just sculpting the brink on top of the standard MDF base. My solution is as you can see. I tired going simpler in the color scheme with this one and I think it turn out great.

    Mouseling Druid - 77290

I painted another little mouseling druid. I went with a darker, grumpier scheme with this one. I love painting the mouselings!

    02726: Tuilin, Female Elf

Needed to relax and paint for fun for a change, and wanted to try some new paints. This was a Fun little one, in spite of a slight miscast. Tuilin: It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but I even managed to get pupils in her eyes that I’m happy with, yay! The blue is a Vallejo shade I wanted to try out. It’s turquoise in English, but the Spanish name is Halcón Milenario (Millennium Falcon). I don’t know why they call it that as Han’s ship was most certainly not this color, but it’s pretty. Shadows and highlights were attempted by adding MSP Nightmare Black and Dragon White, respectively. Her hair was another attempt at the Blond Hair triad, which is taking a bit of effort to get a handle on. It didn’t help that all my brushes are failing on me right when it’s not possible to get new ones. Comments and critiques welcome!

    Leisynn, Mercenary Mage 77174

Painted this fig last night for an upcoming adventure. I've needed a generic evil wizard for a while now. I found this guy at my local game store and decided he would be perfect. I did have some grand plans with his spell book that didn't turn out. I was planning on making script on one page that looked like it was glowing starting at the top left, and continuing until about the middle of the page as if the words were magically glowing as he cast a spell. The results ended up looking like the script was squiggly lines with green slime spilled on them. Other than that, I'm really happy with how he turned out. Advice and critiques welcome as always! Thanks in advance!

01601: Domur, High Mage (25th anniversary)

This year is the year of giving miniatures as birthday gifts to the friends I game with. One of these fine fellows--my oldest and dearest friend--has a birthday in a couple weeks. He loves magic-users and is obsessed with Harry Potter, so I painted up a 25th anniversary Domur as a classic "Gandalf the Grey" style wizard for his present: Tried to layer the flames to give some interesting and pleasing texture. Let me know how I did. Also, given his love for all things Potter, I did my best to modify Domur's spellbook to a more familiar book cover... I'm actually surprised I could keep the brush steady enough for it to come across at all similar, to be honest.

03504: Karahl Farstep - Green Wizard

Hopefully the first of many, this was an experiment in color - in this case, green. And while his wide stance was a problem at first, I made it work. Karahl Farstep: Hood and cloak are both a mix of Brilliant Green and Linen White, 3:1 for the darker areas and 1:2 everywhere else. The cloak is shadowed with purple (thanks, @Cyradis!), and I think it came out pretty nicely in front. Had to redo the back due to becoming shadow happy. For the light greens I was hoping to achieve something close to mint green, but it came out a lot more washed out and boring than hoped. So I freehanded borders around those parts with some Palomino Gold. Not daring enough to do anything fancier than that yet, but I think it makes a positive difference. Comments and critiques welcome, I’d like to know what works or doesn’t, and what to try and do better next time.

    03787: The Crimson Herald

Presenting The Herald, the third member of my Dreadmere group. At the suggestion of Crowley, I added more tentacles to connect him to his base a bit better. While I'm happy with how this went, I don't think he's as well painted as the other two. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    Hundred Kingdoms Friar

A random old figure picked up for cheap to practice layering and other things on. Feedback appreciated: FLGS had a couple of these guys priced at $10. This one, however, was marked half off and sold for $3. I guess that’s how math works. Anyway, I wasn’t able to find pictures of the assembled figure online, so I’m not sure if it is the complete sculpt. The top and bottom halves were separate pieces. This pose seemed the least wrong, or at least made the two halves fit together the closest. Several firsts (for me) going on here. Aside from some of my old Hero Quest figures, this was my first non-Reaper mini. It was also the first slotted mini, which required my first attempt at creating a base out of green stuff. I think it turned out all right, but it’s definitely something I’ll need to practice. Comments and critiques appreciated!

    03786 - Andowyn Thrushmoor

Presenting Andowyn - The Mischievous Druid, the second finished mini from my Dreadmere Begins WIP thread. I loved how detail heavy Andowyn turned out to be, she's just covered in stuff! As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.

    14032: Corm, Ghostmane Shaman

Edit: updated the pictures to have a neutral background (suggested by Glitterwolf) and better lighting. Hey Guys! I'm pretty new to painting miniatures but I'm having a lot of fun with it. This is the first one that I feel really good about but I'd also love some feedback. Thanks!
