  1. Hello everyone, some more Underworld dwellers. Here are my 44045, Shrieking Fungi sculpted by Bob Ridolfi.
  2. RCL Trio with @Pochi and @Kuroneko
  3. Enlarge! Hello everyone, here are pictures of the 44109, Enlarged Dark Dwarf Smiter I completed last night. The size of this model allowed me to add more texture on the leather. I also added light effect on the face and the shield rivets. For those of you who may wonder, Dark Dwarves (Duergar) can once a day use their spell-like ability to enlarge themselves. This Bones Black model was sculpted by Bobby Jackson.
  4. Well, Reaper have started a Challenge League on their Discord channel and my painting mojo has been in the doldrums lately, so it looks I'm going to be using it as painting inspiration for the next wee while. Here's my first entry, which is part of a collaboration with @Pochi and @Evilhalfling. Its a promotional mini from last year, Garghuk the Ogre Chieftain. All comments and criticisms are happily received.
  5. Here is Vatanis, Maggotcrown warlock, from Bones IV. The camera certainly revealed some flaws, especially with the ribbon! I most pleased with the cloak and bare chest and look of the blue as accents.
  6. Started a new mini tonight.
  7. I just got this figure last week, but it jumped the Que. I spent a few days doing prep-work and watching a video on painting fur to refresh my technique. Then looking at elephant photos and mammoth drawings. basecoat to finish was about 3 hours work. I went with Burnt umber as the base color. I do love burnt umber. - with some half steps and all dry brushing. Brownliner Burnt Umber Olive skin shadow leather brown Ivory tusk The pink tongue just makes him look Happy to me, so now he has a name. and meets all three of my
  8. The mighty Mumlaaaaaaaak! With an attendant caveman, just to highlight how huge this guy is. I just finished him this morning, and with him done I only have one more model to paint from the Bones 4 Lost Valley expansion. His axe incorporates a nude fertility idol, so I've created a link to the uncropped front view.
  9. Hooray! It's an entire tribe of orc warrior women ready to crack some heads! I rebase all of my Reaper models, but these had such thin integrated bases that I was able to glue them directly onto Reaper's 32mm round gaming bases and still keep some of the original details. You can see this most clearly with the top of the skull on the base of the Jade Fire Champion (the warrior with the two-handed axe) and the bleached ribcage at the feet of the Jade Fire Shaman.
  10. "All fear Mumlak, Living God-Chief of the Erithereans!" A steal at $24.99 from Reaper for the size this guy came out at:
  11. Here's a bunch of giant animals from the Bones 4 Lost Valley expansion: the axebeak (44075), giant snake (44078), giant cave sloth (44079) and cave bear (44082). My typical color palette preferences tend to be fairly muted but I experimented with primary colors on the axebeak.
  12. He's big. He's green. He's covered in spikes. He's your friend and mine: the hornslasher.
  13. I hadn't planned on this purplish skintone for these guys. Originally it was going to be much redder, but I wasn't paying attention to the colors I was mixing, and the basecoat ended up looking lighter and tanner than I had intended. Instead of starting fresh, I made a wash with a lot of purple in it and applied it liberally to their skin, and this was the result.
  14. Here's a lovely family of primitive hominids for your enjoyment. The two cavemen and the caveboy are below, but you'll have to follow the links to see the cavewoman and the fertility idol, since there's some paleolithic nudity involved. Shaman and Fertility Idol (Front) Shaman and Fertility Idol (Back)
  15. I just finished this up yesterday. The color scheme was taken from one of my kids' picture books (How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?); there was a polacanthus in there that was just as spiky as this guy, so I thought the green and purple would look nice.
  16. Fresh from a middle finish on the Reaper Quarterly Paint Contest (ended March 20) hmm need a rear photo.
  17. The Stone Giant Champion (44083), Stone Giant Carver (44084), and Stone Giant Guard (44085) are among my favorite models from the Lost Valley expansion. Especially the champion. She's awesome. I just finished these this morning.
  18. Like many of you stuck at home right now, I have a lot more time to paint. I'm a little over halfway through the Lost Valley expansion but I've only recently taken photos. Here's the lovely carnotaurus in all of his chompy glory.
  19. Painted up this awesome fig as my first experience with the bones black material. I loved the detail, and it took the primer/paint really well. I didn't have any real plan with this one, so I just started with the bear pelt. I had never painted a polar bear before, so I went with that. After that was done, I thought blue would look neat with the white fur, and the rest just came together. It wasn't until I got finished that I realized he looked like a big angry Smurf! Still really happy with him though! Critiques and advice are always welcome, thank you!
  20. I got two Efreetis in my recent Reaper order. Out of the two one had far more gap lines than the other, so I opened the one that would take less effort to work on first since it's been awhile since I have properly tinkered with a mini. First thing's first, gap filling! This model had quite a lot of mold lines too, I dealt with most of them with an xacto knife and a file. The Bones Black material is brittle enough to handle a file if you're careful unlike the white Bones counterpart. While priming I noticed that part of one of her horns was missing, must h
  21. I decided to start this instead of ziba until I can figure out assembly. Lots of base coats. I might have time to line tonight and touch up. The arm is actually still unattached. I will probably glue after lining/touch ups.
  22. Presenting Ashlynn the Vampire. Originally a Dark Elf Priestess mini by Reaper, she lost an ear tip at some point during the manufacturing process, so I removed the other rendering her human, then the paint scheme went in a very vampirey direction. Not one of my best paint jobs, although I am rather pleased with her face and hair, but it was one of my fastest, it's very rare for me to finish a mini in a week. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  23. So here’s my question, got this little person with my last Reaper order, and I just wonder a little. The miniature is a little bit heavier set or “thicker” than the concept art, and I’m just wondering, does everything think this is a gnome lass and not a young gnome beardless gentleman? She’s kind of similar to the other set that has a very obvious gnomish lady: Just wondering if everybody else has painted this little hooded gnome as a lass?
