  1. So my daughter wanted me to paint another one of these chibi characters. I find they make good practice. Honestly, the eyes are what makes these models worth it. Like most, I struggle with eyes, but these huge character heads are perfect fodder. Pretty happy with the results. Open to any feedback or improvements.
  2. Thanks to some good input on this, i managed to put together a decent base for this model. I admit I'm not a fan of the chibis, but i will say it makes practicing on the eyes 10 times better. What do you think?
  3. The painting aspect is all done, but now i need some basing ideas. I was at a friend's house painting this and his wife said to do a rubble area that looks like demolition. I think that could be really fun. I need some ideas, folks! Also, what color would you make the ground since this is a comic style character.
  4. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/impactminiatures/battle-village-lets-get-medieval-in-here/description You've got a 3d printer? What a coincidence, I have one too. We just checked shipping rates today with all carries to find the most affordable (Date April 16, 2022). We round all shipping costs down to try and keep them as low as possible. Shipping rates for physical rewards will be: USA: $6, Canada: $19, Europe $28 and Rest of the world: $33 Tom at Impact! always runs a good KS and has sucessfully delivered many of the so if you interested jump in with confidence
  5. Another figure I painted last year that never made it to show off. This is the metal version, no longer in the web store so I don't know the number off hand. She had been on my desk a long time and I finished her before Halloween last year. I know green isn't a standard Halloween color, but it worked for her. She's a good witch, not the kind that eats children.
  6. Another figure I painted last year that never made it to show off. This is the plastic version, 77595. She had been on my desk a long time and I finished her before Halloween last year. Sorry it is slightly out of focus. Orange and purple, pretty standard Halloween colors.
  7. My take on Rocky the Brushholder.... One, maybe the main reason for me to joint bones V.... Hope you like... Kind regard
  8. I painted this during 2020, but never put her up here. Oops. from MidKnight Heroes, this is “Super Chibi "MidKnight" Quest Edition.” Really nice sculpt as I expect from MKH, and great fun to paint up! At the time I painted her, I was rewatching some anime from my youth, and I took some inspiration from Utena (specifically, from the opening credits, where Utena and Anthy have this super badelf armor that sadly never gets any screen time in the actual episodes).
  9. This is the second miniature I've ever painted, and the first with Reaper paints. I figured that a brush holder would come in handy for the all the Bones V painting in my future! The only Reaper paints I own are the Bones V paints (Learn to Paint kit and the two collections), plus two bottles of Reaper MSP 9038 Rainy Gray. Overall I'm really pleased with the way this first attempt worked out! I primed everything with 9038 Rainy Gray, then put on the base coats. The wings and ears gave me the most trouble as I had generously overpainted with 9410 Dragon Green, and was attempting a wet blend with 09468 Brilliant Red and 09218 Lava Orange. They required seven or eight coats before I got solid coverage over the green. Once everything was painted and cleaned up, I did a dry brush highlight pass, and then sealed it with two coats of Rust-oleum Crystal Clear Enamel and one coat of Testors Dullcote. I waited 24 hours between each coat to give it plenty of time to dry. I also masked off the gold pile prior to the Dullcote to make sure it would stay shiny. Some things that could have been better: The eyes should have been a different color to make them pop, instead of disappearing in the face. Additionally the right eye is quite muddy and the pupil gets lost amidst all the black veins. I was getting tired of working on Rocky at this point and wanted to get it finished. Ideally the eye would have been repainted. The left eye is better, but still gets lost in all the green. I forgot that my wash darkens the mini, and didn't paint in brighter colors to compensate, which means overall it's quite muted and dark.
  10. The Project This is our 14th Chibi miniatures project! 7 years ago Andrew May of Meridian Miniatures launched the Tooth & Sword line of Chibi miniatures. The models were hand sculpted and were a line of chibi that I loved ever since I saw them. A couple years ago Meridian discontinued selling the entire product line. Fast forward to today and Impact! was able to negotiate a purchase agreement for the entire line of Tooth & Sword chibi to bring them back to everyone that missed a chance to own them. However technology improvements have allowed Impact! to 3-D scan all these hand sculpted models and now offer them as high quality digital models for you to print at home as well as remastered physical models as good as the originals. The 3-D scans also allowed for new versions of the Tooth & Sword models to be offered as Stretch Goals! We want your feedback, so please leave comments. We plan to engage our backers and would love ideas for other variants that you think need to be stretch goals. The Miniatures The digital models will be sent as STL one piece models within a month of the project ending. All of the one piece models will be sent in both no supports AND supported formats. In addition, if you want the models will be available as physical one piece 3-D prints as well in super high quality resin prints. Prints will be grey and will come with bases (as many are not free standing models). MODELS WILL NOT BE PAINTED! The normal models will be roughly 30mm to top of the models head. This may vary slightly from model to model. There is also a Hippogriff model that will be a bonus model if you get all the miniatures which is 50mm in size. link https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/impactminiatures/chibi-tooth-and-sword-digital-stl-and-physical-miniatures
  11. My first time painting a chibi figure. Probably not the last. Painting this made me feel happy.

  13. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/impactminiatures/chibi-pony-adventurers-miniatures-2-digital-stl-and-physical/ The Project This is our 12th Chibi miniatures project. Over the last 5 years at conventions, our Pony Chibi from our previous KickStarters are always the most popular figures and we love hearing the happy sounds of people seeing them for the first time in the display cases. Now as technology has greatly changed we wanted to add new ponies and accessories to the model line and now offer them to everyone as digital models to print at home for yourself! The Miniatures The digital models will be sent as STL one piece models within a month of the project ending. Models will be sent without supports (we will have a stretch goal to buy software and add supports to all the files). Due to Stretch Goal #1, the ponies will also be provided with STLs for the different components of the models, so you can use a free product like Meshmixer to mix and match parts from the different models to create your own ponies. In addition, if you want the models will be available as physical one piece 3-D prints as well in super high quality resin prints. Prints will be grey and will come with bases (as most are not free standing models) The miniatures will come in two sizes. The base pony figures will normally be 30mm tall to the top of the figurine's head and a couple large pony figures will normally be 50mm tall to the top of the figurine's head (the Nightmare and Kirin are large ponies)
  14. I've been painting up a lot of Starcadia Quest. It only seems fitting to start out with the Star Wars characters. For most of my Starcadia Quest, I went with a Borderlands style- with lots of black lining against bright colors and even black hard edging to create that Borderlandish look. I plan to convert a few Starcadians into Borderlands characters as well. Also, it just seemed right to start out with the Star Wars inspired characters.
  15. Evil has many faces, even when it is kind of cute. Here are some of the generals working under the Dark Consul. They represent the highest caliber of evil in Super Dungeon Explore. This is a set of bosses for Super Dungeon Explore that I painted for a client.
  16. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/impactminiatures/frog-folk-villagers-3d-printable-and-physical-model-chibi/ a new Impact! project offers 12 frog folk either for RPGs (with smaller heads etc) or as Chibis (with larger heads etc) you can buy the minis directly as physical prints or you can buy the STLs if you have a 3D printer of your own Digital Models - You can purchase the STL 3-D Print file for any of the below 24 models for $2 each. One entire set of STL 3-D Print files for the 12 models in either RPG or Chibi format is $15. All 24 STL 3-D Print files are $25. (NOTE: The RPG Frog Folk Merchant is available for as a free download below .. you do not need to buy it!) Physical Models - You can purchase individual physical copies of the miniatures for any of the below 24 models (see the image for price per a model). One entire set of 12 physical miniatures in either RPG or Chibi format is $65. All 24 physical miniatures for this KickStarter (both sets) is only $110. The sets are discounted for this KickStarter from the expected retail prices of $70 and $130 for the sets when/if they go to into our retail store. The physical models both RPG and Chibi are designed for an average Frog Folk Villager to be 28mm in total height when standing. Since most Frog Folk are shown of smaller stature than a Human in most RPG settings we feel this scale helps show that well. Free Sample! If you want a sample of the models, Cute Loot Miniatures is providing the RPG version of the Frog Folk Merchant for free to download for your review! https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-frogfolk-travelling-merchant-113120

  18. I must admit that from all the Bones 4 core set minis, the Chibis were the ones voted "most likely to stay in their bags" when the KS shipment arrived, as superderformed/ chibi models like these are not really my cup of tea. They are way out of my comfort zone to paint, with all that skin, hair and large surfaces needing somewhat smooth transitions that I am not really any good at. But they have grown on me somewhat, especially since I decided to do them even more cartoony in style than I usually do. Themselves being very cartoony and all. They do look much smoother IRL when not magnified as in the photos. #121 Galladon: from the Smallworld Heroes Chibi subset in the Bones 4 Core set: #121 Galladon from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Gene Van Horne (?) 19. This was the last mini I finished painting in 2019, I finished it around 10 pm on New Years Eve. This is also my first Chibi, I painted her very close to the box art, but I didnt quite get the right shade of light blue, and her hair is more golden rather than pink in the art. Still happy with her.

  21. #119: Monique or to give her full name Monique DeNoir. I don't think she has been made in Bones. There is a 54mm scaled one in metal that has approximately the same pose. I believe she is supposed to be a vampire. I painted her as a drow. ...and all in gloriously sharp pictures! Yay! #117 Almaran #119 Monique from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Gene Van Horne (?) 22. #117: Almaran or to give his full name Almaran the Gold, Paladin. The normally scaled one was in Bones 1, but I have not painted it yet. Funny that, I seem to have not painted most of the PC character types from the earlier Bones KSs. I wonder why. ...and all in gloriously sharp pictures! 23. The second of the superdeformed Chibi hero minis from the Bones 4 core set that I have painted, here comes Arnise the Elf Barbarian. Kissed by fire. I have no idea if she actually is meant to be a barbarian or not. Getting that much skin smooth is not an easy task, especially not by drybrushing. ...oh damn I forgot the freckles! Same height, different scale. B4Core#118 Arnise from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Gene Van Horne (I think!) 24. I got the chance to paint up some miniatures for a project to bring the Modest Medusa webcomic into the minaitures world. These were all sculpted by Brian Phelps, and I think every one of them sculpts is super cute. I'm going to get to do some more of them for backers, since the project is pretty nicely overfunded. Anyway, here are all of the very cute Medusa minis I painted for them.
  25. A bit of a departure for me today. Chibi, a style formerly known as Superdeformed before Anime became popular in the western hemisphere. I am not particularily fond of Chibi; that superdeformed cutesy manga look that has insidiously permeated the pop culture of today. Sigh. What is the world coming to? Now they also have infiltrated my beloved Bones... During the Bones 4 kickstarter campaign, they offered chibi versions of some of their existing minis as free additions to the core set as social stretch goals, adding them one by one as their target numbers for facebooks shares, retweets, tagging pictures or other interactions on social medias were met. The full six chibi miniatures did end up In the Bones 4 core set. As I am sworn to do the entire Bones 4 core set, I am honour bound to paint them all eventually...gah! So...I painted the chibi Sophie for starters. Sophie the succubus is the Reaper Mascot of more than 20 years, and versions of her have beed used for promotions and to mark special occasions since way back when. She has had figures in every Bones kickstarter. In Bones 4 she had this chibi and also a normally scaled mini. I went for the classic red devil look, with the opaque but shiny black eyes that I find most fitting for devils and their ilk. Is it cheating to do the eyes in gloss black? ARRGH! A giant-headed devil woman! She must be put to the sword! B4Core#120 Sophie from the Small World Heroes subset in the Bones 4 Core set, 2019 Reaper Miniatures Sculpted by Gene Van Horne (I stand corrected by Mr Bob Ridolfi, Sculptor Extraordinaire himself :) Thank you, Bob!)
