  1. After a lot of work and patience ... not to mention delays for surgery and rehab ... I present to you: The Old Way A diorama display base made from a cork mat (coaster, under plants, hot pad). If you followed the WIP then you know the story behind the piece but here's a revised summary ... "The Old Way … that road found in post-apocalyptic, fantasy societies that the current society has no clue how they made it. Once the road way in this piece was created by such builders that it lasted for millennia. At least until the water changed course and eroded the road bed and shifted the l
  2. Chief of my Hill Giant Tribe. I dipped his hand in hot water to form the fingers around the added rock. The strange off-centre position on his base is so he fits into his tribe better...
  3. Dire Wolves are the tradition pets for AD&D Hill Giants, so I bought this fine fellow to replace the smilodon that came with my Hill Giant Hunter. I always use reference pictures when painting real creatures, and this looks a bit like a real black wolf, so I'm quite happy. There are a lot more colours and steps in this chaps fur than on any of the accompanying giants, though I don't know if it shows. The joy of Bonesium means that I could easily cut off his base and glue him directly to this piece of actual granite. I recommend doing this before ANY paint is applied
  4. Nothing special, but I stood him on a rock so he overlooks the rest of the tribe...
  5. Two more members of my hill giant tribe, obviously the one on the left is the original. The one on the right has a totally seamless hair piece (!) and obviously a modified club based on one stolen from another giant. He also has a slightly more upright stance which required an extension of his furs and was probably more trouble than the effect is worth, to be honest.
  6. From Bones Kickstarter 4 - I hope I got the code right as I can't find this guy on the Reaper website as yet. He came packed with a sabretooth which I didn't use for this project because AD&D giants keep dire wolves (of course!) I think he might be my favourite member of the tribe? I was tempted to give him a more "huntery" weapon, but I guess a horn and a club is all he needs, and hill giants aren't known for their finesse or craftsmanship.
  7. HEY HO! I'm back ... sort of. Things are finally starting to wind down at work. I haven't had my new employee start yet (July 5th) but we're hitting the slow season. New work will continue to come in but the pile-on won't be there. So, while I have a couple of projects sitting on the shelves ... Thrym's WIP List ... I did receive my Bones 3 order and feel the need to replace the Reaper in Talisman with a much more WORTHY version. For those that don't recall or have never seen the Reaper in Talisman ... here's a version: Plain jane Reaper.
  8. A new creation in the works ... Dragon Eye 4" long by 2" wide and made from driftwood oak. The piece was found like this. So far I've painted the "lash" with Reaper Black Ink and the "Iris" with Reds and Oranges as well as the Black Ink. A gloss coat covers the iris. Plan to build up the iris in gloss layers to give it some depth. Teak Oil finish.
  9. THE BATTLE OF THE CHAMPIONS Figures: Unarmored Hordesman & Armored Hordesman Manufacturer: Red Box Games Base: WoldStand Material: Trollcast (Resin) WIP Thread Located here. Here's the Gallery to see what everyone did Here's the Poll - Vote for your top 3 and only vote one time. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They stood staring each other down in the middle of the bloody and muddy battlefield, rain pouring and slicking everything in sight. The two champions, their armies spread out behind them screaming a
