  1. Having now finished my Kaladrax Reborn, I realised there were a few other miniatures I have painted recently that I have not gotten around to posting on the forums! Well, here they are, First up is the human fighter from the dragons don't share. This one was fun to paint, and I painted the shield freehand in what I thought was a very knightly style, quartered with a hawk/phoenix emblem in gold. Next is the bones version of Duke Gerard. He was more challenging, due to my decision to try and paint him in white armour with black detailing, again, the cross emblem on his shield was done freehand. And last but not least is Dain Deepaxe, The way I painted him was fairly typical, but I think he has come out well.

    Duke Gerard

got this today at the comic shop. I was looking for a good looking Paladin NPC. I can see it now after battling a slew of evil fighters the pali looks around for something to take back to his chapter house. He spies a sword and it seems something is telling him to pick it up, what harm could it do. sure it looks evil and feels wrong but if it is used for good it should be all right, right? a sword is only a tool like a hammer right? who ever heard of an evil saw or shovel, right? hey how did this sword end up in my hand? and why am I feeling I should pick up this scary looking shield to go with my new tool. if it scares my enemies its good right? right? now lets go talk to that evil inn keeper that refused to stable our horse on the way up here. probably need to burn down his whole evil inn and everyone in it right? right? the mini is duke Gerard with a slight mod using a GW pole arm for an sentient evil sword and a GW shield for an evil sentient shield. let me know what you think about my plan to use this as a plot point please. finished thanks.

    painting Bones

I took a bunch of random Bones to Reapercon to work on over the weekend. They were washed, and then I used brush on primer at the con. Figured I would get some tabletop quality work done while I was socializing. Well, if you were there and trying to paint you know that the humidity was bad and paint *was not* drying, so I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. For example, the wash I used on Duke Gerard took about 45 minutes to dry. On top of that I had crackling on a couple figures. :( I brought them home, stuck them on washers, and plan to finish them up this week. First up, snakeman warrior. This is from the first speed paint of the day. We were given 30 minutes. I always tell myself to stay away from the yellow, because I can't make it work in a speed paint, and then I go and grab the bottle and next thing I know my figure looks like this: I don't normally repaint speed-painted figures but snakey here is getting a full makeover. The rest of Thursday I worked on this pair: Mostly happy with the blacksmith. Need to work on the contrast between Goldar's skin an the leather shoulder armor. Friday I picked up the Thornwarden, and oops, there's that yellow again. Also started on Freya (left) and Isabeau but did not get this far with them until Saturday afternoon: Finally, Sunday I started on Duke Gerard and got a wash on Aina. I basecoated Gerard with two purples, a dark one and a lavender color, but they are nearly indistinguishable when dry. I mixed some white and purple to bring up the details so I could see it. Lot of work left on both of these.
  4. After a lot of trail, error, frustration, and procrastination I finally am happy enough with Renault to call him good and put him up on the show-off thread. This was a lot of learning trying to get the NMM on his body armor done to look passably right and the TMM on his shield/sword done. If you are interested, here's the start of his WIP in my WIP thread, be warned it gets chatty in there though. This figure is Duke Gerard (Reaper Bones SKU #77063) sculpted by Bobby Jackson, but I did convert his sword by taking the scimitar from the Iconic Pathfinder Cleric (bones version). For my purposes, he is a figure to be used at my group's Pathfinder Table and his name is Renault, Paladin of Iomedae. Without further ado: C&C are welcomed and appreciated!
