Hello everyone, I hope you're having a great Black Friday. Here are pictures of 50287, Cain the Cyber-Troll sculpted by Bobby Jackson. This Chronoscope model was designed by Wayne Reynolds, Winner of the Reaper Con 2011 DYOM (Design Your Own Miniature) Auction. It is also available in Bones Black version under SKU: 49028. I added the katana on its back to be faithful to the concept art illustration and painted it with Reaper MSP paint.
I'm currently the only person to have entered this figure into the Inspiration Gallery so I figured I'd share here too. She's painted up as a member of the Charm City Roller Girls, the Baltimore women's derby team. It's a stylized/idealized version of their outfit, since the mini didn't exactly match the usual outfit. She's not my usual choice for a painting project, but I have a friend who's one of the team's refs, so as a late holiday gift, I painted her up and just mailed her off. She should get it on Thursday. If you like it, follow the link, and give it a thumbs up! I'd love for her to be the example image for the mini.
Andy's recent question in the Getting to know you thread got me thinking about the DYOM minis. I know Reaper can't really divulge any sort of specific sales figures, so it's OK if this goes unanswered. I was wondering if there were any of the DYOM's that did far better or far worse in terms of sales than Reaper expected them to? I know Reaper has a pretty good handle on what types of minis sell, and I'm guessing that when they see a particular concept, they know by now approximately where any given mini concept will fit in their bell curve of sales. So I imagine that as a DYOM shapes it's way through concept and sculpting into production, they can make a pretty good guess as to where it will sit in their bell curve. But gamers being the fickle people they are, I'm sure there have to be a couple of those DYOMs that surprised even Reaper.
