  1. This was a very fun group to paint. They also went very fast. I finished them in January, but just got around to photographing them. I can't pick a favorite, they all have so much personality. I tried some OSL on the fire elemental's base. The camera settings were changed on the solo shots of the air elemental to tone down the white from overpowering. It ended up kind of dark. Enjoy.
  2. So... in an effort to like....actually not have 300 minis to paint by the time Bones 4 AND the critical role minis all hit me next year, I’ve decided to paint three a week, and always have a bigger work in progress going. This week I picked some low hanging fruit so I actually did more than that. The ice troll was my bigger monster this week. Air elemental i wanted to look like it was sorta tearing up the earth beneath ala a tornado.... enjoy! C&C welcome!
  3. Hi Guys, Just a quick update from my Do-To List. Pretty straight foward, light base coat, heavy wash, dry brush highlights. Let me know what you think :)
  4. I really like these elementals' pose and sculpting. So much more imposing and dynamic compared to most other elementals I have seen. Picking flowers... There are many more pictures at my blog Water Elemental was done as follows: first, an undercoat of clear matte varnish. This is key! I used Army Painter Anti Shine spray. Then some vallejo blue ink and when dry several light drybrushings with progressively lighter shades of pale blue up to almost pure white. Then some ancient citadel turquoise glaze here and there, all topped off with gloss va
  5. Prepping for the upcoming "Princes of the Apocalypse" game, I've tried to focus on minis that would fit. First up we have the Water Elementals, from the recent Bones Kickstarter (round 2)
  6. Since seeing the Bones Elementals as an add-on option, I have been plotting and planning my very own magma elemental! Whooo!!! Also since I got 2 sets, I'll probably do a traditional earth elemental to satisfy our Druid's tendency to hang around in wild shape... unless I can talk the DM into allowing a magma elemental... inspiration: Anyway- prepped figure by washing with soap and water and trimming mold lines. used sanding needles for hard to reach areas. Put on a basecoat of walnut brown (see- don't you just love walnut brown!?) and started in on some simple shading with blood red
  7. Haven't posted in a good long while now due to, ehrm.. Mostly laziness, but also christmas and priorities I guess. So hello again folks! :P Had a productive couple of days this week. Finished off two half-done models on my shelf and did my stone golems + this guy. Also started the two clay golems. I tried keeping it simple. Being such a big model I wanted to get it on the table and off the table asap so he didn't succumb to the ever present "Oh look at this other cool guy I could paint instead"-syndrome. Mission successful as he was done in two days! As for basing, I tested him on variou
