Hi all, So... I have a short attention span. This is evidenced by me deciding to take up yet another side project- this time in anticipation of finally receiving my starter rulebook for CAV:SO from reaper this week. Reaper's CAV line is the only line of minis that are not fantasy (or 40k), and the only line of minis that I have that are not in the 25-28mm range. As such, I don't have much good terrain for them yet. I have been a fan of paper terrain for awhile, ever since discovering world works games and Dave Graffam's stuff. Upon starting to look around I also found a surprising variety of free paper building templates for a variety of scales- most of which are based in Europe. So I downloaded a few of those, and then also purchased this pdf from Dave Graffam, which allows me to make office buildings of several sizes and colors that fold flat when not in use, allowing me to store an entire city in a tiny box. Pretty awesome, especially for 3 bucks. I also found some shipping container templates. Check it out! I made almost 20 buildings in two evenings: An action shot: The terrans get ambushed! So over in the Frostgrave thread I posted that I would write up a battle report. Well putting together the the terrain pieces I have (not many ), I realized I didn't have enough. So I'm torn between what to build the remaining set up out of. I have several already cast piece of HA blocks of ruined field stone, lots of foam core, modelling clay, and miliput. I have in idea of how I want to set the board up, but need more pieces. Here is a quick photo of the start. I cut out 2' × 2' piece of foam core for the play area as per the scenario size. Then placed the pieces down. This is where I stand. It's rough, but I want to get started learning the game. I don't want to use generic stand ins, but I'm OK with it being unpainted since the 3 scenarios are solo runs.
Now accepting suggestions for a better name. Attempted to make two playing spaces of terrain in two nights for an Infinity tournament at my FLGS. While its not finished by any means I thought I'd share some pictures. To avoid a mile long post, you can find a blow by blow over at my blog. Company I work for sells valves for water distribution. They come anywhere from smaller than 1" to larger than 48". A recent batch came in with 1/8" Masonite for protective covers. I hadn't started painting it so no harm done. Right now my plan is to do the underside and legs Chrome. The surface is textured so it will get grey with black wash. I may do some details but my free hand isn't very good.
