I'm curious... how do y'all roll your dice? Not just the dice wielding roleplayers and wargamers of these forums, but the gamblers and board gamers as well. I'm asking because, usually, I just toss 'em on the table - but, especially since we've started playing more miniatures based games, that can get messy as they bounce off important things, or fall off the table and then have to be rescued before the pets eat them. So I switched over to using a dice bowl - a built-it-myself papercraft one, as seen here - but as sturdy as it is, it still managed to get a bit squished up. It was also a bit small, so too enthusiastic a throw and the dice would leap for freedom and cause all the issues as seen above (and too timid a roll, and I'd be accused of not rolling properly). So, starting tonight, I'm going to use a dice cup I originally picked up to play Liar's Dice with - it's a soft felt, so it won't damage (or sound like it's damaging) the table, and initial practices with it have proven that it rolls the dice pretty nicely. I wouldn't be able to use anything too large, or too many dice at once with it, but since we're playing Iron Kingdoms and I'm only throwing up to four d6 at once, that shouldn't be an issue. I've also considered papercrafting up a dice tower - but since the games aren't at my residence, I'd run into the same problem I had with my dice bowl, namely squishing. I could ask my brother (at whose house I game) if I could craft one and leave it there, but then I worry about his cats eating it... There's also the issue of table space, which can be at a premium. So? How do y'all roll your bones?
