So this I'm assuming is going to be my last finished miniature of 2016. I got the base finished last night and photos taken at lunch today. I'm pretty happy with my grand total for the year, I'm thinking it's probably a personal record. I ended up with 52, averaging one per week, 43 from Ral Partha, eight from Stonehaven, and one from Dark Sword Miniatures. This one is an old Partha piece, I'm guessing latter nineties, which was kind of of based I'm guessing on Xena. Very similar armor and the long hair, with a slightly modified and thicker chakram that was Xena's trademark weapon. She was a pretty simple figure to paint, with a fully exposed face and eyes that weren't at all sunken into her head like sometimes Dennis Mize has done. Anyhow, enjoy and Happy New Year to everybody!
I finished up this lady earlier this week. I was originally intending her to be a bit higher quality, but she was very accident prone so I decided to settle for high tabletop level. High tabletop is where I want most of my minis to fall, so that’s perfectly fine by me. Hopefully my “high tabletop†will increase over time, but this is a good example of what it means to me at the moment. There are some spots I’m proud of (skin and brown), and others I got frustrated with and moved on (armor and blue). I did a teensy bit of TMM on her swords. Actually, her dagger was a victim of my her clumsiness and the “mid-tone†is polished pewter with no paint at all. Here’s the best closeup of the face I could get. Darksword Miniatures have really tiny eyes, so I was unable to get as much detail in there as I would have liked to. I eventually had to accept that I couldn't do any better after repeated attempts.
Here's my first wizard paint job. Still need to figure out what to do for a base, as with all my minis so far. Critiques and words of advice are welcome. I'm still using craft paints, but I got some flow improver and extender which really help. The mini is the Bones 89013: Ezren, Iconic Wizard. ... and here's a gif:
