  1. The City Watch. Charged with lantern and truncheon to keep the peace and vigilantly guard against threats thereunto. Again, I'm a sucker for the buckled slouch hats and the shoulder-draping collar. Midlam's Halflings again, featuring Kate Redhanded: more angles: ...and Clubbo Drubbins. Can't say I did such a good job on his lighting as on Kate's, but can for sure say I've done worse. Bringing light into dark places: "Halt! Who goes there!" And a whole crowd of citizens ready to deal with thieves, spies, monsters, witches, or rat-men. (Guest appearances by Abram Duskwalker and Mira, Damaris Duskwarden, Sheriff Drumfasser, and the Gravedigger.)
  2. Dawn at St. Toad's Mere. The worshipers gather by the dolmen. With scroll and orb, bell and blade, chalice, keys, and tome. But what manner of worshipers are these, so pale and clammy? And why does that one's hand bend so? Is that...is that an arm, or something else? Lo! a foul miracle! They have become as their unwholesome master, transmuted into a kind of glory through their dark rites. Some still retain hands, or things in the semblance of hands, the better to wield tools built by and for hands, but others have transcended or transgressed beyond even these. Soon they will renounce limbs and spines altogether, shed their robes and live to writhe and squirm beneath the mire with their lord forever. These are fantastic fellows--something about their eyeless fleshy heads makes them even more enigmatic and eerie than your average illithid. What are they up to? and what will their rituals bring upon the troubled earth? For all your eldritch cult needs. Could work as an alien species in a pinch. (The cultist with the dagger does not come with a bell; that's a repurposed earring back and pin.)
  3. I love a sculpt in the the Early Modern era English Civil War/New-England Canaan/Solomon Kane style every bit as much as I would hate living in Puritan Salem (which is to say, a lot). This buckle-hatted rat catcher from Midlam is just perfect for the Early Modern Monster Hunters series I have going on. Clad in rust, mahogany, and maroon, "sadd colors" as was the fashion. (The Puritans mostly didn't wear black, not because it was somber, but because it was too fancy. Of course.) With net, traps, staff, and rat mallet, he is ready for any ordinary rat the city can dish up. But of course, we don't deal with ordinary rats here, do we? A consultation with a well-traveled colleague returned from the New World is in order. We've seen Boren Backslap here before. "Aye, on two legs, and wearin' clothes? 'Tweren't a dream, lad. You've much to learn and not much time to do it. Best we set an ambuscade this very night. Where there's one, there'll be more, sure as Judgment." (The orb-wielding albino is a Ver'Men mage from Black Tree).
  4. Let's meet Will Chandler, Midlam's halfling candlestick-maker. (Strictly I think a candlestick maker is a silversmith or pewtersmith rather than a chandler, but I don't work for Midlam and this sculpt is too good and evocative to complain!) So much character on display. This one is an exercise in OSL, having no fewer than four light sources, and I can't pretend to have done it much justice with painting; those candle stubs are tiny. Am happy with the lighting on one or two pictures though! An uncanny encounter after dark: With a few other citizens
  5. A huge 2 for 1 KS! (You get BOTH Humans and Halflings in one project! ) Bloody Peasants! by Midlam Miniatures — Kickstarter Story "Oh no! It's an armed agrarian uprising!" Toiling in the fields for their feudal overlords, the peasants are equally quick to turn their tools to defending their lands from monstrous invaders or, when pressed to the limit, revolting and overturning cruel and greedy landowners. Bloody Peasants! A selection of human and halfling farmers in 28mm scale miniatures for all of your fantasy games. You can choose from humans, halflings or both! The Humans A familiar sight in the villages surrounding Midlam. The Halflings A smaller folk, doing the same jobs as the longshanks. It's a Midlam project, so you know what that means; Maybe a stretch goal, very possibly an early fulfillment, and absolutely no nonsense.
  6. Xenoplanetary mining is a tricky business. Mining in general is dangerous, and unknown worlds are exactly that. So the dark spaces of an unexplored globe could contain anything in their dripping, lightless, clammy halls. Green Team is about to discover this. Meet Green Team. On what was another boring expedition, in both senses of the word, under the crust of Xipetotec Alpha. And then--a muted slicky, sticky noise, like a the sound of a wet carpet and a spoon stirring jam. There's life down here! Inquisitive life, with no fear of humanoids! Inquisitive, fearless, and *very large* life. Very...mucoid, too. Look out, there, cadet! More soft, clammy, rippling noises. We are Not Alone. And Excavation Specialist Torelli in particular is not alone. By the time he hears the hiss of digestive juices on his suit and feels the soft inexorable flesh enfolding him, it is already too late. Sometimes the Company just isn't paying a spacer enough to stick around! After several hours of muted squelching and gurgling, once every scrap of organic matter and soluble minerals have been absorbed, the worms finally move away from the small heap of metal fragments and tooth enamel that was once Torelli. And in the dark silence that follows the worms are again left, as they have been for ages, alone. Waiting. And hungry. I love these disgusting sculpts. Great for Underdark and spacefuture alike, they are horribly organic, all sphincters and flaps and folds. They will engulf an adventurer. It is a soft death, but not painless. Something about that eye makes them look less brainless than one might think.
  7. Midlam keeps doing exactly what I want. Rounding up my collection with original miniatures that pairs up well with the original. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/hobgoblin-raiding-party-volume-two?ref=profile_created Yes, THEY'RE ALL METAL. A Note on Metal We moving onto a lead free high quality pewter from a reputable metal dealer. All our past metals had a high Tin content, but could contain a small quantity of lead (typically no more than 5%). Even still, we cannot guarantee that any of our metal will be entirely lead free.
  8. I expect everyone knows about this already, but in case there's any newbies here, this is kind of a 'just back it already' kickstarter. Midlam has always delivered, and are way up in double digit projects by now. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/newly-graduated-wizards Story The allure of great power means that many dream of becoming fantastic wizards, but the path to becoming a Wizard is a long and gruelling one, requiring endless hours of study and personal sacrifice. Though many may seek the path of a Wizard, few are chosen, and fewer still achieve The Class of 22016AE, is unusual in that not only have all those who were inducted to become Wizard's Apprentices graduated (setting them on the first true step on the path of Wizadry), but that they have all survived to become full wizards in their own right. Explodio in particularly had some very close calls, and Toadini proved himself surprisingly adept at extracting himself from the bellies of Giant Amphibians. Newly Graduated Wizards Welcome to a collection of 7 28mm scale wizards, for all of your fantasy adventures, from Midlam Miniatures! Welcome to the sequel to our very first Kickstarter, where we see how far our Wizard's Apprentices have come. You can also pick up the original miniatures as well if you missed out the first time around. The Original Class of 22016 You can also pledge for the original set of 7 Wizard's Apprentices, either with or without their graduating counterparts.
  9. Posted on the off chance that there's any forumites that still haven't discovered Midlam's Kickstarters... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/cult-of-the-moon-goddess/description Story Alberon is a vast and ancient world, with many unknowable mysteries, whether that be in the depths of the earth, across exotic lands and the very heavens themselves. There are thirteen major moons that may be seen in the night sky at different times, and their behaviour, phases and conjunctions are oft studied for omens and portents by astrologers and diviners. Some moons are worshipped as deities in their own right. One of the most powerful and ancient moon cults, with devotees in many of the lands and city states which once formed the Old Empire, is the Cult of the Moon Goddess. Little is known of this cult, for it is highly secretive. What is known is that they worship only one of the moons of Alberon's skies, the old moon. This moon is said to be able drive men mad and grant great powers to those it favours, when it is full. The Cult of the Moon Goddess is not proscribed in Midlam, although in some cities it has attracted heavy sanctions, which has resulted in the cult directing it's wrath on the often patriarchal governments. But what the cults greater motives are, whether good or ill, it is difficult to say, for their inner workings and identities are protected by sacred oaths. But you would be wise not cross their path... Cult of the Moon Goddess A collection of twelve 28mm cultists, for all of your fantasy adventures, from Midlam Miniatures. Welcome to our third Kickstarter to cover some of the strange and unusual cults that operate within old Midlam town. NOTE: We aim to ship this May 2020, not May 2022 as it says in the description. We fear the Moon Goddess Cult knows we're onto them and are using their powerful magic against us! Will there be a Stretch Goal? We typically announce a modest (and most importantly - achievable without delays!) stretch goal of an extra miniature, a week or so into the campaign. This will be free (with no extra postage) for those who back the full pledge (and anyone pledging for one or two miniatures will be able to choose that miniature as one of their reward miniatures).
  10. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/halflings-gone-bad-volume-two/description Story The world of Alberon, as ancient and unknowable as its timeless depths are, has few certainties for those that live in it, but ruin and corruption awaits all but a blessed few. Halflings are, of course, no exception... The Western Wastelands beyond Midlam are a harsh unforgiving environment, that breeds a fierceness through necessity for survival alone. It is thought that the first halflings to enter the Wastelands, did so unwillingly, captured by Hobgoblin Raiders some several hundred years ago. It is reported that the Hogoblins thought that their small size would make them useful servants for all manner of tasks, but when the monstrous and unstoppable nature of their appetites became apparent, the halflings were stranded in the middle of the wasteland and left them to die. That they didn't is some testament to the hidden reserves and ingenuity of these small folk, but they have not survived unscathed. Their souls, often forsaken to unknowable gods, have changed as much as their bodies and minds. As a counterpoint to the Wasteland halflings, those that inhabit the town have found unusual niches, whether that be as criminal masterminds, pirates, anarchists, grave robbers and the somewhat cliched, but ever problematical, burglars. An Excerpt from 'The Robbit' by The Wizard R.R.R. Gudgrief Welcome to Halflings Gone Bad - Volume One! A collection of sixteen 28mm scale halflings from the wrong side of the elven forest tracks, for all of your fantasy miniature games. Welcome to our second Kickstarter to cover some of the more nefarious occupations and depths that halflings have stooped to. The worrying nature of the appearance of wasteland halflings, something seen as a threat to all halfling civilisation, combined with the new depths of depravity of halflings in Midlam has called for a new town council to be convened from amongst the artisans and workers of Halftown.
  11. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/waylaid-by-bandits-volume-2/description Story It was the Baron himself who nailed up the poster in Midlam the town square. WANTED: LADY WILDWOOD and sundry associated gang members - For Murder, extortion, petty theft and highway robbery. REWARD - 10 Gold Coins for Lady Wildwood and 1 Gold Coin per gang member. Speculation and rumour was rife! Who were these new Bandits that were plaguing Midlam? Who was the mysterious and dangerous Lady Wildwood? It seemed that the town had been under siege, first from Captain Grief's Gang and then the Hobgoblin Rainding Party, and now this gang of merciless women! Bounty hunters muttered in dark corners of Inns, looking for information and squads of Town Guard regularly marched out into the surrounding countryside in their pursuit. But still the robberies and raids continued... Waylaid by Bandits Volume Two A gang of eleven 28mm scale bandits, thugs and ruffians, lead by the Notorious Lady Wildwood, for all of your fantasy miniature games. Waylaid by Bandits Volume One You can also, should you wish, include our first bandit gang with your pledge. Captain Grief's Gang is a series of of eleven 28mm scale bandits, thugs and ruffians, including the original stretch goal 'George the Grind'. You could then mix and match your bandits or have them as deadly rivals! Waylaid by Bandits Volume One It's only an 11 day project, so hury up and back.
  12. These are from the Ghosts of Midlam Manor Kickstarter. I love these sculpts and I just got an airbrush, so I wanted to try sort of a blue zenithal ghost effect. They are more blue than the camera shows, I'm still getting used to the photo booth and lighting. (Plus I should probably use the real camera instead of my phone.) Overall I'm happy!
  13. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1662635043/the-return-of-the-cult-of-the-kraken-lord?ref=discovery About The Baron, in his great weariness, had fastened the reins of his horse tightly around his hands and knotted them, so they would not fall from his grasp. As they entered the city, trying to focus his eyes upon the Wizard Gudgrief who rode a little ahead, and he noticed as they passed beneath the great gate that few paid him little, if any, any attention. He realised that he must cut a sorry figure indeed. Perhaps it was for the best that the guards did not recognise him. As they made their way to the stables by the Wizards' college, the Baron was struck by the sorry downtrodden state of many of the citizens. They kept their heads low, or covered their heads or faces. Some walked with a strange gait, and their hands and fingers seemed bloated. "Plague?" whispered the Baron hoarsely as he pulled alongside the Wizard. "A disease... of sorts. Some of them have begun to call themselves, The Chosen, as if it were a blessing, not a curse. But... it would be best not to talk of it here... for the beast, it has too many eyes... too many limbs!" The Wizard Gudgrief calmed himself and his eyes took on a steely quality. "I fear an old foe has returned..." The Baron shivered. The Return of the Cult of the Kraken Lord! (Miniatures #1 - #10) Welcome to the Return of the Cult of the Kraken Lord! A collection of vile cultists! The Chosen (Miniatures #11 - #20) The Chosen, poor unfortunates who have been cursed by the Kraken Lord!
  14. Howdy, Blessings upon you all this day... Kev!

  17. About It had been some months now, without any disturbance at Midlam Manor, for which the Baron was grateful. However, on reflection, it was perhaps too quiet. No sooner had he considered this, then there was a terrible creaking of doors, mysterious footsteps and a most unholy wailing. The haunting of Midlam Manor had begun. It had long been known that the Baron’s ancient ancestral home was haunted, but sightings of ghosts had been mercifully rare. But now, from the great hall to the kitchens and from the dungeons to the battlements, all the lost souls of Midlam Manor walked the corridors once more... Midlam Miniatures are pleased to present a collection of nine 28mm scale ghost miniatures for use in all of your fantasy, horror and pulp games. Optional Add-On - The Vampires of Old Midlam Town Doing his best to ignore the incessant moans and cries, the Baron examined a message that had just arrived from the High Wizard of Midlam, informing him that suspicious characters had arrived by coach from Ammerlund and since then there has already been a number of suspicious disappearances. Of course, his help was urgently required. The Baron sighed, hoping he could get rid of the ghosts quickly before the vampire cult became established In Midlam... To bolster the ranks of the Undead, we present a set of 7 classic Vampires, available as an add-on to the main reward. The Vampire Cult of Old Midlam Town These metal Vampire models are approximately 28-30mm tall (from sole of foot to top of head, excluding integral metal base). They are supplied unpainted and without the plastic base or scenery shown in the picture, which is for illustrative purposes only.
  18. A set of 13 detailed male & female 28mm scale gnome miniatures, suitable for all your Fantasy miniature games, from Midlam Miniatures. About this project The Baron of Midlam, on dealing with the matter of the 'Winter Adventurers' returned home to Midlam Manor, to a most alarming sight. For there, at the end of his estate, at the bottom of the garden, was a hill, where previously, there had been no hill. Fortunately the Wizard Gudgrief had accompanied him, and was quick with sage advice. "I fear my Lord, that you have a mild infestation of gnomes, the common or garden sort. Quite harmless, I assure you... " The Baron did not look best pleased, for this was Midlam Manor, his supposedly secret retreat, far from the hustle and bustle and plotting and scheming of Midlam Town. And now there were gnomes here. Gudgrief, sensing the Baron's dismay was quick to step in. "You'll find they are no bother, indeed, they are good at tending gardens so they team with flowers, will protect your grounds from wild animals and alert you to the coming of foes. Other than that, you'll hardly know they are here... harrumph, apart from the hills of course... they do so like to build hills..." Midlam Miniatures are pleased to present a collection of thirteen 28mm scale figures, for all of your Fantasy games. There are a variety of both male and female gnome miniatures.
  19. So, I have flocking, sealing, and glossing left to do, but it looks like I've made a dent in all my end of the year Kickstarter arrivals, expected or not: This includes: Frostgrave: Forgotten Pacts, Oathsworn: Heroines in Sensible Shoes, RPE: Dwarf Veterans, Midlam: Wizard Apprentices, TAG: Halflings, and some other odds and ends I've just opened a package from Midlam of Halfling Wizards and Apprentices, so I better wrap these up soon...I think there's also some more Halflings and Chaos Dwarves due soon from Ganesha Games. I may have a problem...
