  1. Found this and thought I'd pass on: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/highnoongame/high-noon-a-wild-west-combat-tactical-board-game/description FYI the game components graphic near the top show what you get if you go "all in" NOT what's in a standard box.
  2. Guns, ninjas, hobbits, dogs, monkeys, pumpkins, and mancatchers. Sure, you *say* you could otherwise do some conversion. But good luck finding a mancatcher *and* a monkey. Stuff's in metal and cast in the USA. Magnets are from China, but they have multiple suppliers.
  3. Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/84371-2019-rpchallenge-questionsannouncements/ All the information you need should be here. As usual, the new format holds a "hard mode" challenge! March and April 2019 Challenge Your challenge is: 9! Bonus Challenge: The First! March 8th is the birthday of Ralph H. Baer, often called the "father of video games." To tribute these early games - paint a character to resemble an early video game character (Think 16-bit era or sooner) the more obscure, the better! Addendum: It doesn't have to ONLY exist in that era. It doesn't matter if it's the only incarnation of it like Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure or Power Pete, or originated but is on 5183 of the series (looking at you, Final Fantasy.) but the spirit is to that era. Bonus Challenge: The Second! Bringing back the classic for April, the "Fools' Brigade!" Paint a mini in a patently absurd scheme! CAV with a bullseye on it...elf with an "I'm organic" tabbard, etc. The more outlandish the better! Hard Mode Challenge! Ides Of March Famously known as the date when Julies Caesar was assassinated, March 15. Make a small diorama (or large, whichever) of such an assassination about to, or having recently happened. Characters and environment. This will be counted as # of miniatures + 2 base and scenery.) As always, the game is made up and the points don't matter!

  5. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/harlequin-classic-shadow-elves/x/10803452#/ EOE is proud to presents a Harlequin Miniatures Production - Classic Oldhammer Shadow Elves including Heroes, Assassins, Enchanters, Crossbowpersons, Siege Engines and scary Raptor Riders! Great Designs for the discerning Collector and Roleplayer. These Shadow Elves will bring terror to all that face them in Battle, be they namby-pamby Humans, goody two shoed Elves or the weakling Dwarves. These fantastic Miniatures, originally released in 1990’s, are being remoulded to cast in lead-free pewter by the skillful (ish) hands of John Olsen and his wonderful staff. Please peruse the figures below... With harsh features and a reputation to match Shadow Elves are a particularly nasty race who believe that they are the only true Elves. They do not see themselves as nasty or evil, their view is simply that it is the other races which have strayed from the correct path. A popular Shadow Elf saying which succinctly explains their philosophy is: “Those who allow others to pass will soon be left behind”. Suffice it to say that the Shadow Elves are continually pushing forward. Shadow Elves despise humans and their ways and feel that the other Elven races are far too Human in their outlook, at times ignoring their Elven Heritage. (This is not true, in any sense of the word, but that doesn't stop the Shadow Elf from believing it). It is rumored that they cut the tips off the ears of Elves that they capture, “humanizing” their appearance to match their actions, but this is believed to be apocryphal. While it is true that there are subtle and not-so-subtle color variations in the skin tones of every race, there are none so stark as the difference between the Shadow Elves of the south and those who live in the northern regions. Southern clans have deep-red skin the color of molten lava and those of the North have blue skin and often have dark blue or purple hair. There is no clear reason for this Regional difference but it is believed to date back to the time of “The Time of the Seven Trials” during the First Age. No records exist which details what the Seven Trials were or how they could have changed them in this fashion, but cave drawings and pictographs deep in the Indegahn cave system, as yet undeciphered, may hold the key.
  6. I recently bought the 2 headed Troll "Lardgulp" to use as a boss in an upcoming battle for my play group. The problem is that compared to the reaper black Rock Troll I received he is not so intimidating... However, I've seen on other sites a new reaper black or bones 2 headed Troll for pre order. I was wondering if there were any pictures of it compared to the Rock troll, and when will it be available on the site properly?

  8. I am putting the final touches on a saltmarsh campaign set in the Razor Coast setting and it occurred to me that there were probably a number of people here who had run or played one or the other. Since this is my first time with the 5e system (though I have at least played all the others and it strikes me as very similar to AD&D with some improvements) I would like to see if there are mistakes I can avoid... The group looka like it will be 7 if everyone shows up, three of them in their mid teens and I want to make sure they have fun while getting a taste of adventures that are not all hack and slash. My reason for them to be there together at the adventure start is that they have recently completed their training/ finished their apprenticeship/ or finished with the service and this is the graduating task they have been given basically: comlete the secrets of sinister saltmarsh if you want the right to practice your trade in the name of your guild. I am hoping to avoid the first 2-3 sessions of 'I hate you all' and 'I'm better then you' garbage that seems to happen so often with the classic met in a tavern opening. The planned adventure path will use the saltmarsh modules but I also want to work in The sunless Citidel The temple of Posidon (an old ADnD module that I personally love even though it's a killer from stage 1) 2 or 3 other dungeon crawls from old dragon magazines I also want them to have access to the Razor coast adventures as optional adventures (I've started a table of swap outs that allow me to replace sections of saltmarsh if they take that option. Finally, I have ship minis and I want to use them! So I am planning some naval encounters that they can run into With all of this I am I am planning a slow progression allowing greater numbers in people to make the adventures a little easier but requiring more of them rather than increasing the cr of the encounters in the dungeon. As some of these adventures are killers I'm really not worried about the characters feeling unthreatened but some of the players are new and I don't want to clobber them Tomb of Horrors style (when I played temple of Posidon the first time we went in with 8 8th level characters and cam out with 3...) but I may need to explain the slow progression. Two things I want to implement are: a change to feats and multiclassing; I want to allow it but only if they find someone in game to teach it to them. Race limitations.all the basic races are fine but race discrimination is a chunk of the plot and things will go very bad very quickly if one of the players is an aquatic race... So with that said does anyone have recommendations for: Dungeoncrawlers - I would love to throw in a few classic crawlers with classic monsters. I also have all my dwarven forge goodies I want to use! Ship combat dos and donts particularly around cannon and boarding actions and piracy Pointers for dealing with teens, they're good kids but can be rambunctious and distractable An I trying too much on them? Ist possible for them to be embroiled in multiple plotlines and it could confuse them. So with that, anyone want to lend an ear and make suggestions? Roo

  10. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/blacklistgames/hour-of-need?ref=user_menu Hour of Need is a cooperative game of comic book action inspired by the costumed heroes that many of us grew up with. Using the Modular Deck System (MDS), also featured in Street Masters, Brook City, and Altar Quest, the game features incredibly modular gameplay using several different types of decks. Hero decks, villain decks, and issue decks can all be mixed and matched to create countless combinations of unique play experiences. Miniatures Each hero in Hour of Need is represented by a highly-detailed miniature, as well as each villain and their associated lackeys. Hero Decks Each hero in Hour of Need is defined by their unique deck of cards, representing their crime-fighting abilities. While each hero has their own playstyle, all hero decks share something in common in the form of heroic feats which make certain cards multi-purpose—do you want to play a card for its ability, or keep it in your hand to use its “toughness” heroic feat icon to protect yourself from damage? Managing your hand is crucial in avoiding crises! Villain Decks Villain decks are the primary opposition in Hour of Need. During the villain turn, each player draws a villain card and resolves its icons—these will spawn minions in scheme panels, trigger special villain abilities, or spawn perils & lackeys on the map. Additionally, villain cards feature “Showdown” effects that are resolved whenever a villain is attacked by a hero—if the heroes can first reveal the villain! Issue Decks and Issue Boards Like any good comic book series, Hour of Need tells its stories through issues—issue decks, in this case. Each issue deck is accompanied by an issue board that sets the scene for the conflict. The issue deck details the overall story and special rules for the game. Whether the heroes are attempting to thwart a bank robbery or prevent advanced weaponry from being stolen, the issue deck will provide the villain with their overall goal, which the heroes must prevent in order to win! Issue Guides The issue guide provides all the narrative and rules clarifications for each issue in the game. Players can choose to play a more story-based experience by reading each story point as its cue effects are triggered. Hero Dice Heroes must fight and solve their way through their enemies’ various machinations. Hero dice are used to resolve each fight and solve action, while focus tokens are used to mitigate these rolls. Tokens Tokens are used to track various game elements, such as how much damage a character has suffered, how much justice has been dealt to a problem, as well as where minions and bystanders appear on the board. Additionally, each issue introduces unique tokens to add another level of thematic immersion. Rulebook Check out the beta rulebook HERE!

  12. Hi, I'm a sculptor from New Zealand. I am mostly known for my dungeon delvers. Especially of the duck variety.
  13. Second background, in progress. Started with tape to control swelling and rolling. First coat was brushed (1.5" cheap brush from hobby store) with a mix of gesso, water, and Patio Paint Fiesta Yellow (probably a dab of khaki to dull the tone too). After a day or two to dry I used a chunk of construction sponge to cover the paper with a mix of water, pva glue, a drop of dish soap (helps with rings at this consistency, or so I believe), and Ceramcoat Raw Sienna (possibly some Apple Barrel Nutmeg too for redness). Swiped the whole thing for coverage, then blotted, dragged, and blew as it dried a bit to achieve the variation in texture you see. This one is going great, I must say. The first one I did didn't look like the image in my mind until about 7 steps in, and never quite looked right. Question, comments, critiques welcome!
  14. This is a continuation of a thread started in "More X-Wing Fun", covering stories for a start until some new pilots are trained. I gave out "The Force Awakens" to a few guys for Christmas and Birthdays in the hopes of expanding the player base. The group at the local game store seems to have vanished. So continuing... This is the Rebellion News Network (R.N.N.) Watchman reporting from somewhere in the Distal Reaches. We encountered a rather strange cosmic anomaly that has thrown us off course; no one seems to know our present whereabouts. The emergency transmitter has been broadcasting our location since we lost our course lock-on. It has been only forty-five minutes but we have been informed of a locating beacon that has started transmitting a positional fix to home in on. Evidently this is not a standard type beacon, not matching anything on the Galactic Navigational Charts… We are, finally, approaching an uncharted planetary body… We have been instructed to close all view ports before we land. I am placing a Remote Optical Pad on the port that should pass all but the closest detailed external inspection. I plan to activate a Randomized Signal Receiver just before touchdown, and possibly obtain some external video… So, a Military base of some sort: a Gozanti Cruiser taking off (?), and Y-wing bombers. Looks like about two squadrons of Kihraxz fighters landing. Here are two rows of Z-95s, which I am unable to determine how many are present. Looks like a standard type of base construction seen elsewhere. Hmmm, there is no visible activity of any kind currently, which I can pick out, inside the installation. Okay we are going down and swinging around just past the base. We have an interesting development, looks like I am picking up stray video signals close by from someone doing a visual scan of us. They seem to be interested in our weapons mounts. Sorry guys nothing new or special here, same-o, same-o. Could this be a dual function base? I see three Jumpmaster 5000s, an YT1300 and a HWK290. Also an air patrol of Protectorate Star fighters. Okay feed was terminated. I will complete the report when we liftoff. Watchman reporting, Good Day
  15. I'm interested in doing a chess set using Reaper Miniatures. Recommendations please.
  16. First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is Alessio Cisbani, and I'm an Italian miniature sculptor and painter. With this project I want to create a series of metal miniatures inspired by the classic ones of the 90s that I collected and painted. These miniatures will fit with your favourite wargames and can be cool PC or NPC for your pen&paper roleplaying games. The path this project will take is like the exploration of a dungeon: as our heroes delve deeper, they will face menacing creatures like Gargoyles or treacherous cultists and enchanters, but they may also find unexpected allies... Moreover Randolf the Ogre (see below) could find bits of armor, and weapons of his size! My project is live and yet funded in few hours, I would be glad if you can take a look. Here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/wolfbaneart/the-short-the-shortest-and-the-bulky

  18. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/firelockgames/oak-and-iron?ref=profile_starred “The enemy fleet brings its guns to bear as your captains await your command. Yet you hold your course even as fear threatens to test your mettle. You know the broadside you are poised to receive will be returned in kind, and with a single cunning maneuver your fleet will gain the weather gauge. The wooden behemoths creak and groan as the wind pushes them into position. With one sharp word the sky blackens with the smoke of canon fire. The battle begins!” Oak & Iron is a 1/600th scale naval game set in the age of piracy, imperial expansion, and above all - fighting sail. It allows players to recreate battles between squadrons and small fleets of armed sailing ships. The game is designed to be true to the theme and tactics of the period while supplying significant flavor for the various factions. Players of Oak & Iron can expect to find all the usual design hallmarks fans of Firelock Games have come to know and love: innovative rules, historical integrity, and beautiful models. The starting point for the game is the Oak & Iron: Core Box below. We have included everything that you will need to play right out of this box, including six starting factions and a large amount of customization options for your squadrons and individual ships. We have done our best to add as much stuff to the Core Box as we could, but larger orders with manufacturers means less cost. A savings which we in-turn pass on to our backers through stretch goals. With this Kickstarter, our hope is to add an even greater value to the Core Box over the course of this campaign and launch a game that we will support with new releases for years to come.
  19. Pretty certain at this point I fell off the wagon got ran over by it, then chased it down and set it on fire (given the drought of these - explanation is in the chatter thread) Please see the main post here for rules, questions and general chatter, while using this thread to keep a list of links to your show-offs or show-off related comments in a single post: A reminder to please adhere to miniatures posting guidelines as usual. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78657-resolutionary-painting-challenge-2018-chatterquestions/ All the information you need should be here. Due to the delay, there is going to be a normal and hard challenge for each month. Your challenge is: 13! October Bonus: This is Halloween! - Paint a mini using only colors that have black, orange, and purple in the name. You may also use "Fresh Blood" and "Spectral White" as they are part of the monthly promotion. Hard mode: Jack-o-lantern's light - Paint a mini where the only source of light would be coming from inside a jack-o-lantern. Pumpkin may be part of the mini/base or sculpted November Bonus: Festive feast - Since both US And Canada have their Thanksgiving in this time bracket - paint up a mini (figure or terrain) to have some food being presented Hard mode: Liquid Cheer - This can be done with the above - paint a mini where it's holding a drinking vessel - but paint it as though the mug were glass and you could see the drink inside from the sides (in theme - ale or wine is the best use) December Bonus: Winter Solstice - To celebrate the shortest day of the year - paint a halfling or dwarf decked in wintry colors (think blues/grays/whites, maybe brown and a little bit of evergreen) Hard Mode: Gift wrapped - paint a mini with any inorganic parts (metal, cloth, etc) being done to resemble giftwrap - little candy canes, trees, text, stripes, etc - bows optional Good luck The game is made up and the points don't matter
  20. [MOD]Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites. We have a high volume of posts generated from this challenge, which is great! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.[/MOD] As an experiment, this project has been moved to be a bi-monthly challenge last year, that seemed to have worked so until further notice that is our format. The longer time frame theoretically will give less stress to painting, and allow more complex jobs, and more sinister challenges. FAQ Reaper only? - No. If going on vacation, can I paint a mini(s) ahead to cover that time frame? - Yes. Are speed paints acceptable - Yes. Can it be a mini started previously? - Yes. Based or unbased? - Yes. Do minis for exchanges count? - Yes. NEW RULE - Size Equivilancy (This list is subject to change as bones 3 releases) Medium and smaller = 1 ea Simple Terrain (plain floors, walls) = 1ea Complex Terrain (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Terrain/latest/03518 or such) = 2 ea Large (Giants and the like) = 2 ea Huge (Most dragons, Demon Minotaur Lord, etc) = 3 ea Bigger (Kally, Khanjirra, etc) = half of quota – rounded up Colossal ("Tianot,") = quota Due to the variable nature of a CAV I compare them against a generic 28mm figure and the Avatar large figure. I take height and bulk into considering if it is worth 1 or 2 figures. If it's not in this list, it counts as 1. If you have a question on the size, please post it here, and I'll address them individually. Much like last year, the idea is to help those of us that normally paint VERY little, to start painting more. You challenge begins...now! And Our Mantra: Participants: If your name is missing, or you believe your count is incorrect, please PM me. Please note: to make counts easier, you must post in the bi-monthly thread. The objective: To paint 52+ minis throughout the course of the year via bi-monthly quota (each bi-monthly thread will have the quota listed as well as the master list) What qualifies: Darn near anything! Reaper/non-reaper! Any material! Shelf of shame minis from ages long forgotten! Exchange minis! Speed paints! Armies! (Though I'd encourage perhaps something outside the army as well) Any Size! Based/unbased! Etc! (I think that covers everything) Jan/Feb: 8: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78658-janfeb-rpchallenge/ March/April: 9: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/79997-marchapril-rpchallenge/ May/June: 9 Oops. July/August: 9: Sept/Oct: 8: Nov/Dec: 9: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/82946-end-of-year-rpchallenge-oct-nov-dec/ Again, I request that when tagging your posts, please use "RPChallenge" to help with locating minis from this.
  21. Haven’t seen this one mentioned yet and it does seem a bit different for the zombie survival genre of miniatures games: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1519152481/z-war-one-exodus?ref=creator_nav - Theres a bit of a discount for those backing in the first 72 hours. I’ll admit I find this interesting. Like the ships and docks setting. Dice Sports also had a previous kickstarter for a different game, Damnation, that is set in the same world. I’m not familiar with the company or their previous game. If anyone here has had experience with either I’d like to hear what you think.
  22. A new kickstarter from the folks at Westfalia coming in August. An interesting and somewhat different take on elves.
  23. Arr... https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/656177818/pirates-of-treasure-island About DEAD MAN'S CHEST Squire Olsen, Dr. Edwards, and the rest of the EOE gentlemen having asked me to help promote the whole particulars about this Treasure Island Kickstarter, from the beginning to the end, keeping nothing back but the bearings of the Casting Room, and that, only because there is still castings not yet purchased, I take up my pen in the hope of being paid by John in the year of grace 2018, and go back to the time when John first presented his plan for this Kickstarter and the stained old Salesman with the sabre cut first took up his lodging in the EOE Office. I remember him looking over his desk and whistling to himself, then breaking out in that old Casting Room Pirate Song: “Fifteen men of a dead man's chest, Yo ho ho and a Pirate Kickstarter, Drink and the devil had done for the rest, Yo ho ho and a Pirate Kickstarter” The first 4 sets include all the named Characters from the book. THE TOUGHEST OLD SALTS The 5th Set includes the Characters in the book that were not named. I have taken the liberty of calling them The Toughest Old Salts. "We got together in a few days a company of the toughest old salts imaginable--not pretty to look at, but fellows, by their faces, of the most indomitable spirit.” THE BLACK SPOT DEAL "...But what is the Black Spot Deal, John?", I asked. "It's a Rare Deal, Mate. People keep their weather eye open for such deals, then buy them on their honor. People who is smart as paint is likely to lose their dead lights if they don't see how good this deal be. A collection of the finest Pirate's Pewter. 30 Dirty Scoundrels, Monkeys, Artillery, Barrels & Treasure Chests and even Captain Flint himself" Why are you talking like this John? "Yarrr, I dunno" he replied All miniatures 28mm scale and are cast in fine Pewter. Miniatures are supplied unpainted and a few require a little assembly. Risks and challenges The Major challenge is time Most of the design work has been done eliminating the lion's share of work needed for pre-production. We are working with Fortress Figures to do the Molding and initial casting. Jeff and Ben are highly decorated Veterans of the Kickstarter industry and have over a hundred successful Kickstarters under their belts! I am very confident that we will meet all deadlines in plenty of time.
