    77456: Ogre Guard

Hello, this is my first post on the reaper forums. I wanted to share my most recently painted miniature, the Ogre Guard sculpted by Bobby Jackson. The base is made out of a 74036: 2" Round Base, some apoxie sculpt for the rocks, green flocking and some army painter grass tufts. I picked this figure because while he is intimidating, he hasn't started attacking yet. This monster fits the look of both wild beast or gentle giant.
  4. Brought these 54mm scale Russian plastic toy orcs from ebay (they are by a popular company over there called Tehnolog) and painted them up as ogres. Will use the ogres obviously for d and d but also rangers of Shadow Deep. I need to base them up and also bring up the highlights a touch. I used a black wash on these (not usual sepia or umber browns) as wanted them to look dark rather than muddy.

    Bones Ogre

I finally got around to painting up one of the ogres from the last kickstarter. I went with a nice standard paint theme, nothing too suprising.
  6. Greetings all as the summers now over I'm going to be painting again so I'm going to be painting an Adon Cav force theme that I've decided will be a jungle style Camo. I'll add to this thread as I did with the UTF force that I did earlier in the year http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78751-cav-utf-painted-force-pic-heavy/&tab=comments#comment-1678472 so heres the 1st test batch that I'll be sorting A Mantis, Kestrel, Bishop & Ogre Cavs with some ground support from Some Chieftains, Commander I & Centipede ground vechiles. Thanks for looking hopeful to be updating soon (just got to paint 2 blood bowl teams up 1st for friends)
  7. Ok , time to put that things in the show off section. Did not really know what to do with naming so I though that would be funny name haha, now up to you to decide which is what :D here last pic, did not find something suitable enough to add some exterior background so I just keep it simple here. Wip thread here : http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/81615-reaper-diorama-77254775507739977454/ Big thanks for the advice and feedback during the wip , special thanks to @Heisler , his advice helped me narrow down the scene to a state I could manage to move forward and progress on this. Each project is a learning experience :D ..one thing I won't do again is actually to start fight on 2 fronts, doing the scene while also doing the figure paint is a bit time consuming and make harder to focus. Since it's a reaper Diorama , I will add it to the yearly contest as well :D..

Lidless Eye Hobbies: Bones 3 Ogre Tribe

A tribe of Ogres from Reaper Miniatures. I was originally just going to get the Matriarch, having previously traded away the other Ogres from the Kickstarter core set, thinking I had enough from my former Ogre Kingdoms army for Warhammer. Seeing them all together in person changed my mind! Sadly, my not-so-local shop was out of the Smasher. I'll have to add him in later! The Matriarch. I'm tempted to get another and convert her to look more like a fighter. I was tempted to slice down the Goblin servant's ears and paint him as a baby Ogre on a leash. The Chieftain. I love his door-shield! The Clubber (not to be confused with the Ogre Raver) The Guard.

    Ogre and little buddy

Have a lot of WIPs at the moment, last night was this Ogre and Goblin (just did the goblin while wash dried on the Ogre)
  15. This is an old Mage Knight figure that I slightly converted and repainted. He was holding a comically undersized flail in his left hand, so I cut it off and replaced it with a halberd from an old GW Chaos Warrior I had in my bits box. After that, it was just a matter of repainting him for use on the tabletop. He'll make an interesting BBEG in some game I haven't created yet. Thanks for looking.

    Ogre with Handbag

It's not a purse. It's European! Sometimes, one simply must bring a snack when going clubbing. It works up quite the appetite. This Ogre's snack however is quite literally finger-licking good.
  17. This Ogre is quite chill. He's just lounging around with the club, ready to throw down but not in too big a hurry to. He has his swagger on, and is wearing his neck bling. Oh, and is that a magical pager on his belt?

    A Well-Hydrated Ogre-Mage

"Remember that just because I'm blue does not mean I'm made of water. All that squashing of adventurers into Tiny bits can definitely bring out one's thirst. That's why I drink Ogre-Aid(tm) from my shot glasses made from the skulls of my enemies! It slakes my thirst and restores electrolytes, but without all those nasty carbs. Do you think I got this ripped drinking colas?" :-)

    Ogre of Unfortunate Proportions

This Ogre struggles every day with his bizarre deformity. Fortunately, he was raised by a forward-thinking tribe who provided him excellent dental care and outfitted him with scale mail, a masterwork club, and lots of bags. Now all grown up, he shuffles along striking fear into the hearts of his proud tribe's enemies!

    Ogre Clubber

Sometimes an Ogre just has to go clubbing. :-) Tried a different painting technique on this guy and a few others. I think it works reasonably on the skin, but still looks kind of scratchy in some places; murky in others.

    03712 Ogre Guard

Nice and simple sculpt. Here the main issue was to paint his musculature/skin. A bit of crimson on his nose gives us a hint of what he may have on the barrel on his waist.
  22. I batch painted these guys, they were just begging to be done as a group. It took longer than I expected for what amounts to a speedpaint, but I think the unified look was worth the grind. Im not super happy with the colors I chose, but once I had committed there was no going back. I do like the blue goblins, though. This year is shaping up to be "the year of the goblin" with all the goblins I have in my queue, so, their blue skin is nice variation. Blue goblins aren't often seen on the boards, and Ive always liked them (and I seem to recall buglips hating them ). The ogres are great sculpts, some of my favorite generic ogres ever. Im happy to have them. I'm looking forward to fleshing out the ranks a bit more. I plan to add the aquatic ogre, and the half ogre, as well as the new goblin command (all sculpted by Bobby Jackson, I believe). I was pleasantly surprised to see more goblin grunts as special edition minis this month - Ill have to get those as well. Anyhow, enough rambling, enjoy the pics! The whole crew "everyone get in there": "now just the goblins" "the happy couple" "and one of the kids" "OK, two. Cant get enough of them." Comments and critiques are always appreciated. There are 14 bases here (and more minis if you count each gobbo) so if anyone would like some detail shots just holler and Ill happily add more.

    Ogre Guard 77456

Here is a painted Ogre Guard done mainly in washes and glazes of Liquitex inks. I really liked this sculpt and Bobby gave the model some real character. The Bones model was also really solid. There was a strange bit of miscast on the skull on the front of his belt so I made it into a jelly bowl for some squashed hobbit jelly.

    Six Reaper Bones

Okay so I dug around in the drawer and pulled out six unpainted bones that I got in my batch that I bought. I gave them all a thorough scrub with a brush and warm soapy water and a toothbrush. The ogre needed straightening up so I poured hot water over to readjust and then under cold to set. I attached all six using superglue to fender washer bases. I got this tip on you tube and have been sticking to it since I started this process. They are running out so I will look for an alternative afterwards. But these are good and solid and make a good base. So now I have to decide which figure to work on.... I have not primed any and up until now I have primed using "151" matt black spray paint. I did not know exactly what to use so I tried this when I began. I did pick up slightly after the photo and start to apply some blue to the Anhurian soldier using the same blue I mixed for a figure I was painting late last night. But without primer it did not seem to want to settle very well. The two figures I have seen painted are by Doctor Faust ; the hell hound and the ogre. Any comments/suggestions or generally helpful advice is gratefully welcomed.
