  1. Have finished this chap, having put some WIP shots up on the WIP sub board. Really happy with how it turned out, and now want a unit of them! In the meantime may use him as an upgrade for the friendly ogre you can use as a character in Rangers of Shadow Deep.
  2. After completing my Reaper training kits, I'm ready to start tackling my old 80s lead minis from my youth. I tried painting a couple when I was twelve years old and failed so miserably I literally thought there was no way I would ever be able to even attempt this hobby and it was just better left to others with more talent. Thanks Reaper for making the awesome training sets and helping me try again after over 35 years. So without further ado I begin digging into my vault from the 80s. Apologies if this forum is for Reaper products only, no insult intended. So I think this baddie might be a Ral Partha Hill Troll, but not sure. Anybody have some insight?
  3. Presenting the Ogre Tyrant by Games Workshop, he is very heavily armed. This one took a while, it's very much one of those minis where the more you work on it, the more details you find. I am very pleased with how he turned out though. As always, any comments or criticisms are warmly received.
  4. Greetings! FF53 - Ogre from Citadel miniatures "Fiend Factory" range, early 1980's. I'm guessing that for older members of the forums, this old Citadel mini might be considered somewhat of a classic, maybe even iconic? Back in the day, It's imagery definately played a part in getting me into the hobby as a wee lad. I never owned it back then but recently picked one up & painted it up! Thanks for looking.
  5. Greetings all as the summers now over I'm going to be painting again so I'm going to be painting an Adon Cav force theme that I've decided will be a jungle style Camo. I'll add to this thread as I did with the UTF force that I did earlier in the year http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/78751-cav-utf-painted-force-pic-heavy/&tab=comments#comment-1678472 so heres the 1st test batch that I'll be sorting A Mantis, Kestrel, Bishop & Ogre Cavs with some ground support from Some Chieftains, Commander I & Centipede ground vechiles. Thanks for looking hopeful to be updating soon (just got to paint 2 blood bowl teams up 1st for friends)
  6. Painted up this awesome fig as my first experience with the bones black material. I loved the detail, and it took the primer/paint really well. I didn't have any real plan with this one, so I just started with the bear pelt. I had never painted a polar bear before, so I went with that. After that was done, I thought blue would look neat with the white fur, and the rest just came together. It wasn't until I got finished that I realized he looked like a big angry Smurf! Still really happy with him though! Critiques and advice are always welcome, thank you!
  7. I made this model at a Reaper Bones make & take at Historicon 2015(?). I really enjoyed making him and thought he turned out well and had plans to paint him one day......and then the Secret Sophie came along and my recipient wanted a cool monster or creature and I thought this model fit the bill in spades. The main model I used is KAGUNK, OGRE CHIEFTAIN (https://www.reapermini.com/search/ogre/latest/77105), armed with a demonic looking whip, using a sarcophagus lid as a shield (https://www.reapermini.com/search/crypt/latest/77137), legs from...something (gryphon maybe), spines from a small dragon, and some various heads as trophies around his waist. I decided to name him Takzez and have given him two brief write ups - one as a bad guy and one as a good guy. However, I do want to have the receiver to have something to himself and he can let me know later if he'd like me to share that info or not later. But in the meantime, here he is. Apologies for the photos, I rushed as it is already late. I do wish I'd had more time to work on his skin and legs, although the skin turned out tons better than my first attempt at it. Oh wow, I am going to hit that inner bottom corner on the shield with a was a few times before I send it. C&C welcome!
  8. Garghuk got painted a few months ago, but I don't recall posting him. He was still sitting out when I grabbed the camera earlier so I took a few shots of him as well. He had started off as a "learn to use the airbrush" project, but given I didn't really know what I was doing he ended up getting mostly done by hand.
  9. I'm just about finished with my final piece for ReaperCon, and I needed a break. I needed to paint something fun and with no consequence. I've been eyeing this sculpt from across the room, and I just decided to go for it. Nothing super crazy, just some true metallics, which I haven't done much with in some time. Enjoy!
  10. Here is my Reaper Bones Ogre Guard, 77456. It took a long time to finish the skin. I had a hard time getting it right with dry brushing layer upon layer and several washes, but I like the way it turned out.
  11. Bones 4 hill giants and Bones 3 ogres, along with Garghuk the Bones Black sample figure. All painted with citadel contrast paints.
  12. I was lucky enough to trade one of my extra Bones Black Owlbears for Garghuk. I am glad I traded because I love this mini! He was great to paint and I can't wait to get him on the table to thump some adventurers!
  13. I think I have got the right mini name. He or she is from Fan Favourites. Painted simply, Scale 75 black metal, then a wash, then drybrush with Army Painter rough iron/rust colour. Tried to do a water effect on the base, layers of gloss mod podge with green ink and bits of wood from a log bag in the middle.
  14. #1 A Chainmail orc from WotC circa early 2000s #2 Bones marsh troll - don't love the final result but it'll do for tabletop play #3 Bones ogre guard - experimenting with skin tones for DND #4 My FAVORITE Bones 4 figure that I identified from the Dreadmere expansion #421 - I call him the Undead Friar.
  15. Ogrethulhu has no need for your souls. HE/SHE/IT/KRAFT HAS COME FOR YOUR UVULAS.
  16. Hello, this is my first post on the reaper forums. I wanted to share my most recently painted miniature, the Ogre Guard sculpted by Bobby Jackson. The base is made out of a 74036: 2" Round Base, some apoxie sculpt for the rocks, green flocking and some army painter grass tufts. I picked this figure because while he is intimidating, he hasn't started attacking yet. This monster fits the look of both wild beast or gentle giant.
  17. Brought these 54mm scale Russian plastic toy orcs from ebay (they are by a popular company over there called Tehnolog) and painted them up as ogres. Will use the ogres obviously for d and d but also rangers of Shadow Deep. I need to base them up and also bring up the highlights a touch. I used a black wash on these (not usual sepia or umber browns) as wanted them to look dark rather than muddy.
  18. I finally got around to painting up one of the ogres from the last kickstarter. I went with a nice standard paint theme, nothing too suprising.
  19. Ok , time to put that things in the show off section. Did not really know what to do with naming so I though that would be funny name haha, now up to you to decide which is what :D here last pic, did not find something suitable enough to add some exterior background so I just keep it simple here. Wip thread here : http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/81615-reaper-diorama-77254775507739977454/ Big thanks for the advice and feedback during the wip , special thanks to @Heisler , his advice helped me narrow down the scene to a state I could manage to move forward and progress on this. Each project is a learning experience :D ..one thing I won't do again is actually to start fight on 2 fronts, doing the scene while also doing the figure paint is a bit time consuming and make harder to focus. Since it's a reaper Diorama , I will add it to the yearly contest as well :D..
  20. A tribe of Ogres from Reaper Miniatures. I was originally just going to get the Matriarch, having previously traded away the other Ogres from the Kickstarter core set, thinking I had enough from my former Ogre Kingdoms army for Warhammer. Seeing them all together in person changed my mind! Sadly, my not-so-local shop was out of the Smasher. I'll have to add him in later! The Matriarch. I'm tempted to get another and convert her to look more like a fighter. I was tempted to slice down the Goblin servant's ears and paint him as a baby Ogre on a leash. The Chieftain. I love his door-shield! The Clubber (not to be confused with the Ogre Raver) The Guard.
  21. Howdy, All Reaper this week... Kev! P.S. Hulk smash!
  22. Howdy, All Reaper this week... Kev! P.S. You must be eternally vigilant with all the vandals about...
  23. Howdy, That sentient club keeps egging him on... Kev! P.S. He's really not a bad guy!
  24. I posted some of these WIPS the other night, finally got around to finishing them up...ready for the game table.
  25. I love painting zombies. So forgiving
