Sanael posted a topic in Show OffAs implied in the thread title: A) I painted these over the long weekend, B) I intend to use them as members of one of the Cults of the Dragon Below in my upcoming Eberron campaign, and C) I have no idea where these minis came from. I mean, I know that I procured them as part of a lot from my FLGS, but they came loose and I don't know a manufacturer, sculptor, etc. There's not any stamp on them anywhere, so no clues there. I got these three, and two more of each figure with exposed heads (the one with the hood up is the only copy of that pose)...so they may have come in a set of three, or a set of seven with one leader figure, or they may be three separate products and I just got doubles. EDIT: They come from Old Glory's SuperFigs line, where they are sold in packs of five. The guy on the right of my photos below is actually the unique "leader" model. Thanks, @strawhat for pointing me the right way! Anyway, pretty generic cult-mooks, and I gave them correspondingly generic color schemes. The robes are a progression of Walnut Brown, Blackened Brown and Bright Red; the hoods and sashes are Carnage Red up through Saffron Sunset into Sunlight Yellow. Skin is Golden Skin mixed up or down with Desert Sand and Walnut Brown. Probably not as much contrast as they could have, but they'll be decent mooks on the table. C&C always welcome, and if anyone can identify them, please do so!
SO*...Neighbor Tom is a Balladeer, song writer, guitar player, West Texas Boy, & a GOOD friend. His Birthday is coming up next week. To commemorate The Event** I did up a miniature. Handsome Jack is one of Tom's songs, ergo, it's now the name of his mini. In this case the mini is one of the monthly releases that Old Glory did a few years ago: ...fill your hand, Pilgrim. *This seems to be the way I start most stories of late. There is a distinct possibility it is yet another sign of imminent senility. **When you reach a certain age birthdays warrant capital letters. It's the older-than-dirt phase.
So, for many moons, and mostly during my "Reign of Winter" campaign, I had been looking for a kit of basic stereotypical witches. The West Wind/Old Glory/Ghost kit "Story Book Hags and Witches" seemed the best fit, however, very few merchants had them in stock in the USA. Someone pointed me toward Noble Knight's recent sale, and I found the blister still in stock! Surprisingly, it was a coven of four! I had always assumed witches came in three, even in inventory. So, to start, we have the Coven as a whole: A Hag pointing the group towards mayhem: The grunt(ilda) bearing spell ingredients: A cauldron plus victim, useful for so many adventures: A broomrider bearing a familiar: And the fourth, another witch taking to the sky:
Two of these of bones orc spearmen (77003) was modified and shanghaied into service as 50 Fathoms redmen. I considered also modifying the chainmain and making it into furs, but decided that was too much work for standard mooks. I also bought a set of captured pirates from Old Glory miniatures and painted up the natives as red men. Sadly the quality of the sculpts on these was not the best, so not sure they deserved the base treatment I gave them. Also painted up one of the captures pirates, I had to sculpt him a cap, since his head was very flat and weird looking on top, and his malformed leg was turned into a leg wound. I think the rest of the bunch will be unpainted forever.
