    PCKTLNT Plushie

So.... Last Decemeber while I was Xmas shopping for the pets, I ran across an AKC chew toy platypus... And, Being me, I knew that it was a DrowcedentTM in the making.... So my daughter Alsnia, knitted the scarf, we mad the hat from blue insulation foam and putty, and I did the monocle from a split ring for keys, a piece of jewelry chain, and some blister plastic. I sewed everything in place, (Be careful of the stitching!!!! as I am out of practice...) and hot glued the hat on... And it was delivered today, and I just got a pm from pcktlnt, so I can show him off now! We need to have a gathering of plushies at Reapercon this year....
  2. So as some of you may know, I have been busy converting a Team Frog Duck into a certain Jet packing, Glitter Happy Monotreme... and I have finally finished him... So I give you..... (well you know who it is....!) He was a lot of fun to do, stretched my sculpting skills and ingenuity a bit, but I am pretty happy with the results. Thanks for looking! George WiP here
  3. ***Since I don't have enough projects going already....**** So this figure showed up in the BOGW, and I flashed back to Casket Works #13 where Reaper had Team Frog stuff in the catalog... (Really bad scan....) I don't really do anthropomorphic minis, but I saw the inner platypus screaming to get out, so.... Drilled a couple of holes in his bottom, and put a piece of paper clip into them as an armature for the new tail: Then added some greenstuff, Thinking that once that hardens, I can work from there to try to do some fur lines.... Any Ideas on how to make a monocle? George
  4. So, I'm working on my sculpting and have lots of little projects I'm doing. Therefore, it seemed to make more sense to just do a running journal of my work rather than individual posts on each piece as I go. Please feel free to offer any input, advice, constructive criticism, or praise. The first piece I'm showing is an inquisitor gal I did for a character I use when my daughter practices GMing Pathfinder games. I went with a corset around the cliché inquisitor robe as I wanted her to have some of the expected look, but with her own twist on it. I also went with a skirt under the coat to give more layers to make the sculpt more interesting. Next, I have an in-process sculpt of my kineticist, Paco Bumblekins. as all he does is shoot blasts of water, I always have him do finger guns for it, so that was a big part of the sculpt. Also, he doesn't wear armor, so he's got a strange hobo-themed attire going (which will eventually include a long coat which seems to be made of billowing waves). Finally, I have my "Sweet and Stabby" character. She's fashioned to look like a sweet, innocent young girl (maybe a farmer's daughter or some such), but hiding a readied dagger behind her back. Maybe she's just townfolk, maybe she's the party rogue, maybe she's a priestess of Calistria. I like the flexibility of the character. Anyway, enjoy!

    01427 Platypod by OneBoot

I painted this little guy up as an exchange figure for pcktlnt for the Secret Sophie 2014 exchange. I had a platypus, I knew pcktlnt loves platypuses (platypi? platypodes?), it seemed like a no-brainer. I wish I would have given myself time to do the potion bottle properly; I did watch/read a couple of tutorials on the subject, but the colored part kept creeping closer and closer to the top of the bottle as I tried to make the line straight, until eventually I just decided to make the whole bottle orange and be done with it. I'm quite happy with how the fur turned out, though, and it was actually a happy accident how it happened. I'd painted all of the fur, and then went back and double-checked it against my reference pictures...and found that I'd neglected to paint his front white. So, I decided to try lightly drybrushing a light color over the tops of the very well-sculpted fur, and discovered that it actually looked really cool. So I did it some more, and still liked it, and ended up heavily drybrushing all over his front, leaving the dark fur colors visible beneath. Huzzah for serendipitous discoveries! Here's a picture of the back view, where it is painfully obvious that I had no clue what I was doing with regards to the shading on his cloak. You can see on the right side that I put shadows on both sides of the fold in the cloth, because I wasn't 100% certain which direction I wanted the light to be coming from. I tried to use my desk lamp to help guide me where I should put highlighting and shadows, which helped for most of the figure, but not for this cloak. :P Overall, I'm very happy with how he turned out; I really worked on pushing the highlights on the cloak up higher than I usually do, and I think that really helped the cloak pop in front. :) Huzzah! --OneBoot :D EDIT: Modified a tag

So I'm painting up my little reward for helping my FLGS move. Everytime i see him, i'll remember those fun times helping them sort and shelve boardgames, card games, and my own personal project of arranging all the Reaper minis by number. [would you believe no one else wanted that job and they were happy to have a volunteer to do it?!] Anyway, he's been primed, dark washed, and dark lined. Sadly I won't be able to base him. At least not yet...i think he requires a 60mm to fit his whole tail in. He's a bit wobbly on his feet but I only have 2 SW 60mm and neither are suitable for him lol, so he'll have to wait planning on this river otter color scheme, with either red or green leather straps. Not sure yet And lookie what I ended up with! Echidnox will be making his way to me at a later date. Thank you awesome people that know who you are!!
