  1. Some time in the late 1990s I did an entire lizardman army for the fantasy wargame Raven by Harlequin miniatures. I am thinking of rebasing and touching up this army as a generic, system agnostic one. That army had some smaller raptors and also raptor riders. The paint scheme here is similar to how I painted those lizardmen back in the day, so these raptors should fit right in with this army. 44081: Raptor Hunting Pack (5) The paint scheme is rather simple and quick to paint and does not really require much precision: Deep green over black undercoat, followed by a heavy drybrush with a bottle green, such as Dark Angels Green or similar. Over this a lighter drybrush on the legs/arms and very very lightly on the belly and underside in general with an olive green such as 70.967 Vallejo Model Color Olive Green or the old citadel goblin green. The back gets some reddish brown or terracotta, followed by a sandy yellow/ochre that leaves some of the reddish brown visible around the edges. On this a light drybrush with 70.976 Vallejo Model Color Buff or similar bone yellow colour. Mix in some white for a final highlight if desired. Gloss black on claws, paint in the eyes as follows: the entire eyeball and eyesocket in black or something very dark. The eyeball in buff, then some transparent yellow (or citadel cassandora yellow shade) with some thinned transparent orange in the middle. When dry, a thin vertical line of black, followed by gloss varnish on only the eyeballs. Teeth in a light beige or whatever you like. I made 45x30 oval bases for them. I need to say that the Bones Black material is very good for PVC minis, and far superior to the regular white Bones material. But these minis have some questionable detailing around the hands and feet. Or should I say lumpy bits at the end of the legs? It would seem that the factory has maybe pulled a fast one on Reaper and the QC has let us all down on these specific minis by not spotting this and having it fixed before signing off on them. I don't really mind all that much as the bits in question are for the most part hidden in the basing flockmix, but it is a bit frustrating knowing that they both could and should have had crisper details on the feet and hand claws. Oi you lot! Gerroff my lawn!

  4. For my Lost World Project WIP here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=138 I'm creating a piece of terrain filled with all sorts of critters from my jungle. These are 3 Ral Partha Velociraptors, 1 Bombshell Raptor Baby and a Toy Triceratops Skeleton. I added feathers to the Raptors and skin and blood on the Triceratops skeleton. The Raptors are feasting on their fresh kill. Eventhough they are part of a piece of terrain that isn't finished yet, I wanted to show them off separately. Enjoy!
  5. This is a Dragyri Warrior ( I believe) from Dark Age, he was sent to me by @malefactus a while ago to contribute to my Lost World Project. WIP: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/69308-lost-world-project-glitterwolf-paints-coldblooded-creatures-and-conquistadores/&page=117 In my Lost World he is Drakh a mutant turtle warrior. He has a pet Meso, a Raptor Hatchling from Bombshell Miniatures. Base is made with a Greenstuffworld Roller Pin and some tuft/flock. Here they are, the last pictures are with my Jungle Photobackdrop Board to show them in their natural habitat. Enjoy!
  6. Hi all, With the new CAV2 Kickstarter ongoing, this motivated me to start painting my Terran force from the 1st Kickstarter. Paint job is my regular army "speed paint" quality, where I'm looking for the best look requiring the least amount of work. I decided to go with a more "desert" look to get these miniatures to look somewhat like GDI unit, so they will look nice when pitted against my Nod-like Rach force. (Rach Force: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/68610-cav-so-bones-rach-force-completed-reaper-voodoo-more). Falcon: Raptor: Vehicles: Incremental Group Shot: I still have a lot to paint, but I'm happy how they turned out so far. To be Continued...
  7. Using 2 raptors from 06198 that I got from the melt table/boneyard this last ReaperCon (minus arms for now) So I had this idea of a pair of raptors, with a dominant one perched on a kill and warning off a rival. Sculpey base for now, and I'll do finer detail with green stuff once it's baked I clipped the alpha raptor's foot off the base so I could tilt him up to have one foot on the parasaurolophus carcass
  8. This year the minis I manage to paint will all count towards the resolutionary challenge. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. With the refurbishment of the old house complete and it now up for sale, I have at last some time to paint a miniature or two. It has been more than a month since I touched a brush smaller than two inches wide, and I have come to the conclusion that I utterly detest redecorating houses, especially everything that involves masking tape. You might have seen the legless raptor I did some weeks ago? Here is it's mother: The family resemblance is striking, this of course being because they are from the same series. Lizardmen by Harlequin Miniatures, made some time in the late nineties or early naughties. This one was originally a riding beast. I think it looks great on it's own. If ever a beast looked both intelligent and ready to kill without warning, this is certainly not your chicken-sized velociraptor... Raptor Lizardmen Harlequin Miniatures Metal 25x50mm oval base by warbases.
  9. Actually making some time to get some painting done this week. Still, what few minis I actually get around to painting this month will all go into the resolutionary challenge total. As per the resolutionary painting challenge guidelines, I will post them here, and link in my post in the challenge thread. I found this Raptor in one of the piles of old miniatures that are lying about the place, and I took mercy upon it, as it only had one leg. So I mounted it with some wire, slapped some plastic putty over that, and when painted, hid it in the bushes. Hiding slightly embarassing things in bushes is grossly underrated. ...I think it worked. I love these lizardmen raptors made by Harlequin Miniatures in the 90s. Still one of the better dinosaur-like sculpts out there. And there was a full line up of matching lizardmen, including larger raptors with riders. I made an army for "Raven", Harlequins battle game, with them back in the day. Maybe I'll dig them out of storage and rebase them for Kings of War or something. 30mm base, metal.
