Meet Gnancy the Gnoll. A friend of mine had the idea of a gnoll character who was considered too beautiful to live among the gnolls (their patron goddess Lamashtu exalts deformity and ugliness). So she left the gnolls to pursue a life among humans, and became a paladin of Sarenrae - pathfinder's neutral-good sun deity. It was so delightfully incongruous, I had to paint her! I started with the bones gnoll warrior, but did a lot of converting. I mended the tattered kilt, and added a sunburst image to the belt buckle. I replaced the mace with a scratch-built scimitar, which is Sarenrae

Zadim, Iconic Slayer, sculpted by Bobby Jackson, converted and painted up to represent Zekir Åžafakin, the “Shining Sword of the Dawnâ€, paladin of Sarenrae in the Pathfinder Adventure Path: Mummy’s Mask. I removed his kukris and replaced them with a sword (turned into a scimitar) from 14262: Elven Weapons, sculpted by Werner Klocke, with a yellow rhinestone in the pommel. I also removed the sheaths for his kukris from his back and replaced them with a shield. The scarab and sun symbols on the shield were sculpted out of greenstuff. His base is greenstuff stamped with hieroglyphs.

(But you all knew that already.) The character is an oracle of Sarenrae, albeit a bookish one, so I played down the left hand's arcane spellcasting from the concept art and redid him in Sarenite colors. Okay, fun stuff out of the way. I think every choice I made resulted in making the overall painting harder. The right hand is holding something glowing with OSL. I decided that thing was going to be g

My favorite character, my cleric of Sarenrae. Being a cleric of the "Dawnflower," I always imagined her in oranges and reds and yellows. The painted fig from Pathfinder just didn't jibe with my mental image of her. This is one of my first painted figs. Please offer constructive feedback so I can improve.
