I always start my WIPs too late. This is my first scenic thing, normally I paint/build for game use exclusively, but my wife wanted a little scene with the mouselings from Bones II. This is somewhere in the done to done-ish range, but I've not convinced myself yet. I think maybe the tree needs more bulk and I'm mixed on the grass. I feel like a few tufts of color wouldn't hurt. Maybe some flower tufts? I still need to stain and seal the rim obviously, but I'm waiting until I'm finished so I can tape those sections off and give a light spray coat to help things stay put. Is there maybe something I could do to the bush/tree material to give it more color depth? Will it take paint well? It's the Woodland Scenics stuff usually used for model train terrain. Any other tips or advice would be most welcome.
Greetings all, here to beg some advice from fellow scratch-builders. I recently implemented a vehicle system into my game relying on apx 1 inch game pieces (Z-scale in model trains) without really doing research. Now I'm trying to find tutorials for alchemy-punk looking trains, or any trains in that scale really, and I'm having the darndest time with it. I've found several sites for larger trains, mostly working with cardstock or balsa. But our grid won't accommodate anything larger than 1 or 2 inches. I'm totally willing to kit-bash it, but not at 20-30 bucks per locomotive like what's listed on amazon. Any links, shops, or advice would be welcome. Just need some help getting started. Thanks in advance!
I've debated for nearly two weeks on if I should start this thread at all and have had this window open on the post being written for more than two days. But it's time to just fire it off. And since this is going to be a long wall of text, I'll post a short tl:dr summary: tl:dr summary: I've decided to design and build a CAV dropship, but to put as much engineering realism into it as possible. But I need help on two things for sure, "What is the heaviest squad you've seen/played/think-legit?" and "What's the dimensions of the tallest, the widest, the deepest, and the overall most voluminous CAV?". Wall of text begins, hidden behind the spoiler for easy, later browsing of the thread, with one dinky semi-related pic:
