I’m not usually big on terrain painting, but I thought this would be a good cap off for my month of spoooooky minis..

So there's a thing called Inktober/Drawlloween that @Pingo reminded me about, where you draw/paint/sketch/art a thing every day during October. There's the "official" list of daily prompts... and this other one that Pingo found that I think is cooler. So who else is up for the challenge?

These are the minis I received for the Spring Exchange from @Leopardpixie. In my survey I mentioned that I like Star Wars and one of my quotes for inspiration was "Something Wicked This Way Comes". She knocked the ball out of the park with the Jedi figure and knocked my socks off with the display which is an embodiment of the "Something wicked" quote. Thank you, @Leopardpixie I am so happy to add these to my collection.

I took Roman Gruba's OSL class at Cancon. He wanted to teach us about atmosphere so we were supposed to paint one side as if it were lit by moonlight and the other side by another source, in this case, her lantern. Her broom is only sticky tacked on so pay no attention to the blob on her back. Technically, she isn't "finished" as I would have spent a lot more time glazing and working in a little more color. I think she turned out pretty cool for only two hours of work in class and I feel like I learned a lot.

In keeping with the month that hosts Halloween, I painted up some familiars! Very simply done, starting with grey liner, nightmare black (a little extra purple for the cat) and heraldic red for the eyes (cat and raven) & mouth (bat). Drop of linen white for the cat's eyes, and a drop of dragon gold for her forehead. Still need to clean up the bases a bit. Otherwise done!

I started building a display piece, a vignette, diorama or whatever you want to call it. It will probably be too late for Halloween but then it will be a Fall / Autumn piece. Reaper 02869: Elise, The Witch and Freebooter Chaos Witch,, both by Werner Klocke will star the show. The idea is they live in this Pumpkin house ( obtained in a garden centre, added a plastic door from a board game) and they are conjuring spooky pumpkins. The Halloween tree stands next to their house. So here are the first pics.

Knocked this one out while I did the caryatid. Sometimes it's good to just get some minis painted, you know? Pretty quick and nasty, wargaming-style paint job (i.e. liberal use of quickshade ink). When I get a few more dudes finished I'll give them all some snow on their bases to go with the Ice Troll. Frostgrave here we come! Better start painting some adventurers...

This mini is tiny. She's a little girl on a 15mm base. I loved the spooky gas mask look on the little kid with the British school uniform. I tried to paint the base like asphalt, like I did with the Hasslefree vampire figure Dionne. The chief difference is this girl has a shadow where the vampire figure didn't. EDIT: 15mm, not half an inch. Still tiny.
