A friend of mine who plays D&D said she had a Tiefling character that was unpainted. "Unpainted? You take your character to your game unpainted? GIVE ME THAT!" That's a sin knowing I like to paint and you're walking around with an unpainted mini. I asked her for the specifics she'd want. She told me silver hair, orange eyes, red skin, and bone colored horns. With that I went to work. Not sure I'm in love with my colors on this one. I'm also unsure if the red skin comes off as red. I used red as the base and then highlighted up with beige red. Purple and green felt strong, but ok to use together. Let me know.

Hello All, Here is a 77118 Reaper Dark Heaven Bones "Tiviel, Hellborn Rogue" I completed recently. I did add the ponytail to this miniature. The ponytail is from a Chaos Space Marine helmet. Thank you for looking.

This one is a good example of the variety that Wildspire offers. Where else are you gonna find a tiefling barkeep mini?

Hi all you Reaper cats and kittens! So today a neat little figure, a Halfling Tiefling, from Stonehaven Miniatures, sculpted by their owner, Mike Evans. This one was released with their Kickstarter a few years back that was mostly dedicated to all sorts of interesting halfling models. I decided on white hair just to give some nice contrast to the pink skin, and then mostly purples and pinks mixed with reds and oranges. and then here, just for fun and a size comparison is a Reaper Tiefling I did a little while back, Fillyjonk. I kind of did some similar things color-wise, even though Fillyjonk's skin was more reddish to start out with and the little hobbit more pink. And after having painted both of these, I'm really looking forward to Bob Ridolfi's Kickstarter tieflings! Wondering what other colors I might use with them a year or so from now. So anyhoos, enjoy!

I've been doing a lot of painting over the last few months but very little posting. I'll probably do some image dumps at some point, I do like searching for other people's versions of the minis and I'm sure others would like to see mine. Anyway, when I went through my collection of painted minis appropriate for PCs, I saw very few armored women. I did two from Bones III, and Anduriel from a Lean-to-Paint kit - he's almost certainly supposed to be male but honestly you put a person in that much armor and they're pretty androgynous. 🙂 I did some minor modifications to Skara - if you're wearing armor no-one should ever see your cleavage (you keep your heart there!) and I suppose she may have been wearing a dress, but she had *&^! spaulders so I sculpted her a breastplate and gave her more-or-less-full armor. She was wearing an elbow cop on her sword arm, but not her other, so I gave her one. I also added a few more thigh plates to cover up a bare leg. Not terrible, though a bit rough - I should probably have built the breastplate out more to make it look more angular. Sculpting is hard! As far as painting goes, I gave her a fairly normal skin-tone but blue hair. I'm quite pleased with how the hair looks. Amusingly enough, when I started painting Mara I thought she had an angel on her shield. I guess not. 🙂

Spent the last couple nights painting up this little guy. Went with the traditional colors of red skin for a D&D tiefling.

Finished him rather quickly because he was a breeze to paint. No assembly required is always welcome. Only complaint I might have is these reaper models with already sculpted thick bases that I have to try and work around to base the figure myself. Steals away some of the creativity and fun.

This is the Tiefling Sorcerer for a D&D campaign starting near me. I created a backstory as well if you have interest in reading it. I posted the backstory on the Works in Progress forum too as I was painting him. Anyways, I hope you like him (and the backstory!).

Hey all, it’s been a little while since I’ve had time to paint anything. The last couple days I finally got back to it and painted up Toruk for a one shot D&D game on Sunday. I’m pretty happy how he turned out since I tried to go quick. I really love this sculpt and it might of influenced my race choice a little bit :) C&C welcome! Enjoy!

This is one of two figures in the Dungeons & Dragons Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures line Male Tiefling Mage. It was one of the first minis I picked up when I was learning to paint. I wasn't sure how I wanted to paint it, so it's been sitting in my inventory for a few months. Now that I have some experience with lighting effects, I decided to go over the top with the color.

My most recently complete project is the lovely ladies of Oathsworn Miniature's "Heroines in Sensible Shoes 3" Kickstarter. As always, they are a joy to paint. They have nice, bold details but without being overwrought. They definitely look like a bunch of starting adventurers! The theme this time was more exotic races, notably a bunch from "Volo's Guide to Monsters" The ladies ascend the mountain: The Kitsune. She could be a lightly armored Fighter, a Rogue, or a Ranger. The Kenku (or Tengu) Shaman. Or Wizard. Or Sorcerer. Or whatever. She's got a bone to pick with you! The Kenku or Tengu Rogue. I went with oranges for them to continue my previous work on the Bones Tengu...which were also dressed in orange to match the official D&D pre-paints. The Dragonborn, could be a Fighter or Paladin. The decision to make her red was regrettable...with that pointy face and dreads, I kept thinking of Ugandan Warrior Knuckles. Stupid memes getting in the way! Tabaxi or Catfolk. I tried to go with more of a Ranger color scheme than the intended Rogue. The other Tabaxi/Catfolk from the set. I liked the intent of this sculpt...she could be a spellcaster, a Monk, or a Bard! The Halfling Knight. Her mount was painted after my own painting gremlin, Hershey. He would be much smaller to scale, though. The Tiefling Paladin. I really like the pose of this one, though I questioned the hooves, as 4E and 5E Tieflings of this design have human feet. I may wind up greenstuffing her into boots at some point. The Firbolg Druid. As far as I know, this is the only miniature of a 5E style Firbolg. The Minotaur Swashbuckler. I bet you were expecting a cow joke here. The terrain:

I recently got in the latest "Heroines in Sensible Shoes" Kickstarter from Oathsworn Miniatures. I decided to get started on them and take (yet another) break from my in progress Rising Sun minis. As \always, they were nice, clean casts with lots of detail, but nothing over-wrought...which makes sense for low-level adventurers! They're such a joy to paint.

I've first seen Vatanis as part of the Maggotcrown expansion on Reaper Bones IV Kickstarter. I inmediately added the expansion on my already excessive pledge; but to me Bones is only for the tabletop. On my showcases I want metal or at least resin miniatures with better definition, so I bought him as soon as the metal version was aviable. I think the miniature has a lot of character, and tells quite the story. First, it's a tiefling, a half demon on classic D&D. Then, apparently, a necromancer; a warlock too maybe, a generalist magician. But judging from his muscle tone and leather bandana we can assume he is also some kind of a warrior/rogue. We can expect him to be a deceiver, a powerful foe, a dangerous villain for our heroes. I didn't liked the scheme we can see on Reaper store, so I gived him another one a bit more sober, classic necromancer palette.

I finished Churrusina. I am mostly happy with her. Not 100% on the spell effect. I painted and repainted it and decided this was the best try so stopped. I have included the purple smoke photo I used for inspiration, I just couldn't quite get there! Anyway, I think she looks like she could be an interesting NPC for my players to "meet"! C&C welcome. Hello all, Starting a new WIP for a mini I'm working on for one of the players in my D&D 5e campaign. One of her characters is a Tiefling Eldritch Knight, so I have selected the glaive-weilding S'Kara to be the starting point for this project... As you can see, I have just begun. I have primed the mini, and used a pair of pliers to slightly curve her horns, to achieve a more ram-like, less devil-like look. I'm currently in the process of selecting colours for the cloth portion of her outfit. Any suggestions or ideas? (Fyi, she will have dark brown hair and olive skin). As always, comments and constructive feedback are always welcome! -E.E.

C&C and advice always welcome. Started working on this awesome tiefling/demon. Cleaned off mold lines, except the one on his outstretched arm and hand. The file wouldn't cooperate. Working on his face/head and just wanted to show some pictures. Yesterday, I was frustrated with the mouth, still am. Paints I used for the skin: 29843: HD Solid Black 09427: Nut Brown 09401: Dragon Red 09404: Cinnamon Red Did this in layers Shadow = Solid Black : Nut Brown (1:3) Nutbrown Nutbrown : Dragon Red (1:1) Dragon Red Dragon Red : Cinnamon Red (1:1) Cinnamon Red Spent 4 hours on the skin and face. I'm happy with where he's going at the moment. Tiefling art online for clothes has been rather uninspiring. So many browns, muted tones, or drab colors.

I painted this guy up for a Pathfinder game. He is a swashbuckling occultist and has been fun to play so far the few times we've gotten to play. He's been painted up for a while now, but I just got around to taking his picture. I hadn't fill an odd Gabon one wrist and use some green stuff to thicken his other wrist, since the pointing hand's wrist was so thin. I dry brushed some interference gold on to the base so it looks a different color from certain angles.

I've had this guy since the first kickstarter and have put off painting him due to his distinct lack of a nose in the bones version. A couple nights ago I decided to perform some rhinoplasty with green stuff so I could put him to use in a D&D game. I went with metallic paints rather than spend too much time blending NMM on his armor, and it doesn't hurt that he'll look shiny on the table. The design on the shield is the symbol of the Forgetten Realms deity Tempus, but it also works for the Red Knight (whose red horse chess piece is a less exciting design to paint).

While in the painting swing, I painted 77149: Damien, Hellborn Wizard from the Bones Kickstarter. While doing that, I had an old figure from a friend. The figure is worn; all the edges have been smoothed. His only distinguishing feature is that he is carrying a lot of baggage. I would be curious to know where he is from if anyone can identify him. I used a strong tone on both figures. I fear that it made Damien a little muddy. I also did not wait long enough for the tone to dry before I flocked the base, so you can see static grass in the crevices of the figure. I noticed this after I took the picture. I think I got all the grass off.

This was the last of the Tieflings (aka Hellborn) in my set. I could probably use more, since my campaign is full of Tieflings. This particular familiar set is also done. Yay! Of the other familiar set, I only have the winged-snake left.There is nothing special about the cat. He was just too small for me to do much with. He just got a dry-brushing in gray. The faerie dragon I wanted to give brilliant blue wings, but I imagined that if he folded his wings they would be more camoflage, so I went with browns.The paladin was fun to paint. I should have done something with his shield. I imagined some kind of flame motif, but just did not have any good ideas.

After some final sealer, Ajaxxus 5.0, Tiefling Barbarian, is ready to hit the dungeons! I'm not sure why he wound up so shiny in these photos, he's not glossy in person. Many moons ago, when the first official preview for D&D 5E were coming out, a friend and I were discussing that the Paladin preview had a Half-Orc as the example art, and it would be interesting to see more atypical race/class combos in the books. He had suggested a Tiefling Barbarian, and lo and behold, not but five minutes later, WotC previewed the Barbarian and it was...a generic Viking style Human. Later that day, during downtime at work, I thought I'd make it up to both of us and sketch out a concept for a Tiefling Barbarian. I kept the 4E & 5E pact-style Tieflings, and took a bit of influence from the design of Warcraft's Draenei, (a race of dimension travelers, who fled from their brethren who signed on with demons). After all, my main character in the game for almost a decade was a Draenei Warrior! Here's the initial sketch:

Apologies in advance for the poor pictures, still really struggling when it comes to photographing the larger stuff. Don't think she looks too bad, but I'm not sure if I'll get any more busts in the future though, I don't really have the patience or skill to paint this larger scale stuff. As always, any comments of criticisms are greatly appreciated..

Yep, I am also jumping on this bandwagon. Haven't painted a bust before, so lets see how badly I screw this up. Got her assembled this morning in the hope of getting started on the painting later today, but I had some gaps to fill (she went together quite well, but my superglue kept drying before I could get the parts completely flush), so I'm leaving the green stuff to dry over night.
