    Undertaker/battle Golem

Undertaker is very plan, just messing with light effects
  2. I haven't held a brush in many years, but it was bound to happen again--Evil cannot be contained forever. I now commence the assault on your senses with a selection of miniatures. The pictures aren't very good, but we have a start(l)ing place. Besides, they've just gone through the liner so there's not much (Deep HurtingTM) to see yet. Right now, I'll be looking for tabletop quality. The Imperial Assault minis are the group we've been using for the campaign and a selection of wookiees because I thought they might be fun. Diala Passil (Force-wielding twi'lek) is my character. I plan on painting her pretty closely to the character art. One of the Wookiee Warriors has been hit with Grey Liner, and the other with Brown Liner. I think the grey one will be an older wookie with white/grey fur or perhaps some streaks. I might make the other Warrior a very dark brown or even black. Gaarkhan (wookiee) is another player and will be a lighter (blonde-ish) furred individual. Chewbacca has been included because he was feeling left out, and it's not wise to upset a wookiee. Mak Eshka'Rey (bothan) is our ranged fighter/sniper. Mak will be painted orange/amber as inspired by our youngest cat and will have a blue uniform because I don't much care for green. Davith Elso (Force-wielding human) rounds out the party. Davith will also probably closely match the character art. The goal is to have the four PCs all painted for the final game of the campaign in three weeks. The Undertaker has been given his base of Brown Liner. I'll never use it in a game, but he would make a decent representation of The Necromancer for a fantasy setting that sometimes lurks in my head. The Grave Minions (not pictured--I'm working on it) will be with him and undercoated with Blue Liner. I could really use more Minions (perhaps even some worker-types). I think they're really a neat little concept. Anyway, these will be companions to The Necromancer. I'm betting that at least one will have a white pumpkin for a head, and will all have a blue glow (if I can manage it) in their heads. Vorvorlaka has received his Grey Liner. I'm thinking he will be either grey, or very pale. He might be "in limbo" for some time as I work that out. The Graveyard Golem was also subjected to Grey Liner. This one just jumped out at me as an incredible figure during the campaign. I thought it was one of the coolest things, even though I'm unlikely to ever use it. It's a little intimidating realizing just how much opportunity for color there is with the golem. It doesn't have to be all brown earth and grey stone. The Carrion Worm (also not pictured, hopefully this weekend) will also be hit with the Blue Liner. The current plan is to have something somewhere between a rather fleshy grub and a bloodworm (glycera).
  3. OK, so this is one of those "good enough!" moments and I am calling this done! This, actually being the stage for many of my firsts.. My first diorama for starters, my first attempt at making a wire-tree, the first time I used an airbrush and my first (albeit failed) entry to a competition. And it is the moment to call it quits, declare it finished and present to you for much desired C&C. Unfortunately my photography is still very much lacking :( Oh and the reason I couldn't make it to the competition is that I have to go on a business trip abroad on the very day that it will be held.. Oh well, there is always next year I guess.. Thanks for looking.
  4. Darcstaar

    Darcstaar's Bones Undertaker

Here's what I entered into The Ghoul, the Bad, and the Ugly contest. I spent a lot of time on the base, making the tree from wire and Milliput, making the Tombstone from Milliput, and adding in a noose. I went with a monochrome idea that certain areas which are darker material in real life would have a darker blue in "moonlit." So, it has both the Templar blue and Twilight blue triads in it. Also, for my OSL effect, I tried out the idea that the lantern lets you see the real colors of the clothes and scenery where it hits. Finally, I added some 90% Sun yellow and 10% Lava Orange OSL from the lantern. I have a WIP too, but when I try to insert links/URLs, It always freezes my browser! Enjoy.
  5. This is a small diorama/vignette for the Ghoul, Bad, & Ugly contest for Halloween. The figures used are 77143: Townsfolk: Undertaker, and 77161: Ghost King. This was my first attempt at OSL, and I'm pretty proud of it. The undertaker is a great figure; he has really sharp features that make it easy to paint an expressive face. WIP here.
  6. Hopefully one part of a small diorama for the Halloween contest, here's a WIP for the Undertaker. Thus far, he's painted as if lit by moonlight; a much stronger OSL will come from the lantern in a bit. So the back and face are pretty much done, but the front needs much more work.
  7. Using CashWiley's awesome OSL on his undertaker as a guide, I painted up mine in about 2 hours. CahsWileys version is here: http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/51939-77143-townsfolk-undertaker/?hl=%2Bgravedigger+%2Bosl
  8. I originally ordered the worm and werewolf way before the Kickstarter. I was extremely impressed by the quality and the price. Strangely, the worm suffered from the tacky paint issue where the werewolf never did. I use the same paints and primers on everything. I have re-coated a few minis after reading a few suggestions here and found Testors Dulcote does work at coating the minis and removing the tackiness from finished models. I'll be busy painting for the next year..... EDIT: as suggested, these are the minis posted below (in order). 77006: Great Worm 77005: Ogre Chieftain 77009: Werewolf 77038: Hell Hound 89001: Pathfinder Red Dragon 77063: Duke Gerard 89003: Pathfinder Goblin Warrior 77050: Lizardman Warrior 77058: Almaran the Gold, Paladin 77143: Townsfolk: Undertaker 77158: Arrius, Skeletal Warrior
