Howdy, Quizzle for 6 October 2022: Have you ever ridden in or driven a Dune Buggy?

I think the only buggy I might have been in on a sandy area would have been a baby buggy.

Alberta is flat and boring for the most part terrain wise, so nope.  There's that bit in the southeast with a bunch of bones that's kinda neat, and the spiky Rocky area is neat too..

Welcome to October! Quizzle for October 1 & 2:

1st: Have you ever been to an outdoor wedding?

2nd: Did you enjoy it?

Catching up, once again......

Yes, 2 that I recall, I was in the wedding party for both.  The first was fairly big, and was really, really, really hot.  Like Stop sweating half way through the ceremony hot.

I did not enjoy that part of it, but at least the reception had AC.

The 2nd was a very casual affair and lasted maybe 20 minutes.  Then we went and played Magic.  That may have been the day I started playing Magic in fact, now that I think about it.....

Quizzle for 3 October 2022:

Has your GPS ever gotten you totally lost or stranded?😈

To date myself, on my way to the 99 GenCon, I came out of the tunnel into Detroit, and my print out from Mapquest told me to turn left.  The very large construction barricades and signs told me turning left was right out.  That was a fairly stressful 15 minutes of driving through some rather shady parts of Detroit, but the detour signs did, in fact, get me back on the right highway.

On the more current side, we use google maps a lot when going to places for the first time.  I'm usually driving.  My wife's phone, for some reason (I'm assuming the GPS hardware in it), goes wonky fairly often, suddenly "recalculating" or telling you to turn on to a street you've already driven by.  Annoys the $#%^ out of me.

Have you ever had pickled green tomatoes?

I have not, both because I dislike about 99% of pickles and I'm not really that big on tomatoes.

I'm assuming what they make here in the Maritimes and call Chow, or Tomato Chow, would be considered a pickled green tomato.  It usually also has onion in it I believe....
This recipe looks closest to what Mom makes.

Which do you like better, Sunrise or Sunset?

While sunrises can be spectacular, the fact that I'm up to see them always makes them slightly less enjoyable. Plus I grew up with the Minas Basin to our west, so every sunset was over water, so were often spectacular.

Nothing that would be officially a dune buggy, no.  We don't get a lot of dunes out this way.

I have been on quads and in side by sides though.

Never been in a dune buggy. I don't think I've even seen a live dune buggy in my life. Ditto for real dunes. Just beach sand banks and sand boxes.

The only thing dune related I've ever done involved Frank Herbert.

Ask me about snowmobiles instead (…just once).

Never have I ever done either of those…

…it does not help that I live nowhere near any dunes.

Sunset. I am not a morning person so I do not see them often.

No, and no. And no way no how would it happen.

Sadly no.  Tried to get my dad to rent a Hummer when we were in Saudi to run around the desert in, but it never happened.  Nowadays, I'd like my dune buggy to look like it was taken from the Mad Max universe or a Gaslands game.  Thing that would add some extra fun...   Not sure how those would handle in the snow, but I'd be up to trying it.

I do not believe that I have.  I have a weird partial memory of one, but no real context for it.  I've no idea if it was something from a TV show or real life.

Quizzle for 7 October 2022: What is your favorite campy Sci-fi TV show or Movie?

So many answers to that. Escape From New York.  Big Trouble in Little China. Night of the Comet.

I'm looking forward to Violent Night in December:

Ok, that's not really sci-fi.  But Santa is an elf, so that counts as fantasy, right?

A Movie (1961) and a TV series (1964).
