Princes Bride is fictional, and they used science to bring back Westley to life, ergo it is science fiction. Or at least that's the story I'm sticking with. 5

Quizzle for October 1 & 2: 1st: Have you ever been to an outdoor wedding? 2nd: Did you enjoy it? Yes, my own in particular. The venue seemed vaguely familiar when we were reviewing it, but it wasn’t until we were standing on the bluff, listening to the officiant when it hit me. I whispered to my best man, “you see that big log on the beach down there?” ”yeah, what about it?” He whispered back. ”That’s where they found Laura Palmer’s body!” My biggest regret to this day was not staging a wedding party shot with my wife wrapped in a plastic sheet being discovered on the shore. We were all big Twin Peaks fans back in the day, so the venue (Kiana Lodge) was a huge hit with the wedding party. Yes, we always end up with some October tomatoes that just won’t make it! On 10/5/2022 at 7:31 AM, Corsair said: Quizzle for 5 October 2022: Which do you like better, Sunrise or Sunset? We stayed outside San Felipe years ago, so we tooled around on the “Baja 500” course. Still, a little noisy for my tastes. 19 hours ago, Corsair said: Quizzle for 7 October 2022: What is your favorite campy Sci-fi TV show or Movie? If it’s gotta be campy, then I’m going with Galaxy Quest. The problem is, I watched a LOT of sci fi when I was a kid, and have a tough time remember the difference between low budget and campy!

I don't know if I have a favorite, there are so many to choose from that were already mentioned. And with a 2022 modern technology perspective, the older a sci-fi movie is, the campier it gets.

Great Khan Artist
The "Twilight Zone" episode with the slot machine that follows the protaganist around makes me laugh every time. At the same time, I wish they still had those old timey slot machines. There are a few moments in the Zone that make me laugh, that were not intended to be funny. The razor snake in "The Thing About Machines", for one. The one that takes the cake for me is when Billy falls in the fountain in the episode where his grandma calls him on his toy phone. The father is lamenting that he will never get to wear long pants. Oh boy did I laugh. All in all, though, I don't find the Zone to be ridiculous. So much of it is still good today. One of the main objectives Rod Serling wanted to accomplish is having a platform to critically examine society, and he got that in "Twilight Zone". That's why the show is still so good today. Probably the best modern adaptation was "Black Mirror". I'm going to say the "X Files". As a teenager, I practically idolized Mulder and Scully. Now I watch it and I'm like, This is so silly. How did this ever become popular? Part of the fun is, I think the "X Files" knew it was silly, because there are episodes that are deliberately campy.

PS: Get outta that Halloween candy! Ummm... does an entire cheesecake count as a snack? Lately, I really like Chicago mix. Calgary Coop has a brand called Cal & Gary and their red curry chickpea chips are amazing. I also like Tomahawk Chips spicy flavour. It's like BBQ, but not as sweet and smoky. I ate an entire bag on Truth and Reconciliation day. Their packaging is also really pretty, so you can leave it on the counter and not feel bad about not putting your groceries away. Lilly's favorite snack: anything I'm eating. She really likes dehydrated liver, but she also really likes Roll Over, which is a dog sausage produced in High River. It comes in a big chub, like baloney. When she was doing obedience, we went through a lot of it, but it molds too fast for us to buy all the time. It works great for tracking. Once when I was feeling particularly naughty, I was going to put some Roll Over on the Christmas snack platter. Mumsy caught me and told me Santa would poop in my stocking if I did. Lilly also loves dehydrated chicken strips. Roxy used to go crazy for haddock skin rolls, but they no longer sell them at Bulk Barn. Lilly doesn't seem to like them. We bought a box of Canadian favorites for Truck'r Treat. At the price we paid, no one is eating those before Halloween! Every year, I put the pumpkin bucket out for the truckers. It has little chocolates in it, so Truck'r Treat. They seem to really like it.
ejala
Campy...would the stuff from Hammer Films count for sci-fi? Love the original Wicker Man, with Christopher Lee in drag and all the musical numbers. The less said about the remake the better. Snacks. Really liking popped sorghum lately. It's like micro popcorn. The last bird's favorite snack was cheerios. Though she saw them as a necessity rather than treat. Mom spoiled her rotten, when I took over caring for the bird when mom went to the nursing home, I would have to go through the same ritual every morning. Uncover bird. Clear off seed dish, and a dozen cheerios broken in quarters. Let bird attack cheerios with cage door open and wait on her majesty to sate the initial cheerio craving. Then she'd come out and demand head rubs. Lots of head rubs. Eventually I could put her away and she'd return to the cheerios. Variations in order were not permitted. The first bird liked the cheese sauce from Stouffers Mac n cheese. And gingerbread. Grandma's bird that we inherited whose life overlapped birds one and two was happy with sunflower seeds. Cockatiels are weird.
