Purple is not a color I would have expected to see; very cool thinking outside then box like that!

Yeah...the purple is a unique choice (executed well, too). It contrasts nicely with the pumpkin (which also looks amazing). Finally, great fur. I'm not sure he reads 100% "bugbear" to me with this color scheme, but it's definitely an eye-catching and well-painted mini. Very cool.

The skin was painted using Vallejo Model Color Purple as a base, with Model Color Basic Skin Tone mixed in for highlights.  Reaper’s Violet Shadow was used for lining.

 

The fur was Reaper Violet Shadow as a base, with blends of Reaper Snow Shadow dry-brushed as highlights.

 

This model is where I discovered rosy skin tones are great for highlighting purples.  I’m really tempted to make all my bugbears this color, convention be damned!

Go for it...that's the great thing about fictional creatures - you can make them whatever color you like. Plus, I always think that the person putting in the brushwork has every right to call the shots on color scheme.
