Moderator TaleSpinner Posted November 9, 2022 Author Moderator Share Posted November 9, 2022 If I were to paint at a rate of 2 minis a month (which would be realistic if I replaced sculpting with my snail's pace painting), I'd have about 30 years worth of minis, long enough for the rebellion to set up Minitopia. 10

First of all, WOOF would never do that! ( We WILL be the NWO!!!) Second: If painted a mini a week I can last a lifetime, of course this would also mean to have to paint a halfling/dwarf or elf at some point...Oh Lord... 6

I will sculpt!" Honestly, probably 2-5 years. And the Authorities will find graffiti in the form of "All paint and no minis makes Jill a dull girl" all over the place. 1

If I were to paint one miniature per day, regardless of size, I'll have enough to bring me well into retirement age. But at my current rate of painting. I'll need to reincarnate myself a few times, or become a ghost that possesses people to paint in my place. 7

My painting speed is so erratic that it's really hard to calculate. When the mood is on me I can paint a dozen smaller models in a day. Lately I've only painted a couple trolls and a few men in the last month or two. Considering that I'm still painting some GW armies that I bought almost 30 years ago I'm not terribly worried about running out soon. If I can still print my backlog of stls that would probably add a year or two to my painting. Rough @$$ guess would be about 5 years of painting at a steady rate on hand. We won't mention that I'm seriously considering buying several boxes of Stargrave and Wargames Atlantic Deathfields models for Christmas It would give me lots of fodder for scifi skirmish games. Or Bones VI still incoming.

The rest of my life, which was the point of amassing the hoard that I did. With the addition of playing music and drawing/painting, I'm really hoping I'll be able to retire properly to dig deeply into all of it. Honestly just my KDM stuff would keep me painting and gaming for years, all by itself.
ejala
Quite probably enough to last the rest of my life or until the minitopia revolution succeeds, whichever comes first. And if simple green isn't outlawed, that could free up even more, as some of my 20 year old paintjobs look less than stellar.

Well first off, I can always whittle a mini out of some wood. Won't look good. May not even look like a mini. In fact it will probably be the ugliest Ent you've ever seen. But it will be something to paint. So take that world government bozos! I'm guessing I have just over 1000 unpainted minis around here. And it looks like I've averaged around 250 painted minis a year for the last five years (only a couple dozen of which are worth showing off). So I won't have to worry about wooden minis for another four years or so. And then I can do one of a couple of things. I can either go back and repaint a bunch of miniatures, or I can start working on overthrowing this shady world government. I'm leaning towards the overthrowing thing.

Fortunately, our Kickstarter 1 - 5 (minus 2) stash is shared between Warrior Slinky the Moss Flayer and myself. So I always contend that we don't have that many, if we mentally divide by 3... That said, if we upped our production rate, I'm guessing we'd still be trying to finish up within the decade. Of course, late backer 6 isn't figured into that...

Considering the vast majority of my purchasing for the last two years has switched to stls, I find this question to be less fair the more time passes. That said, from years past I have enough physical minis to keep me occupied for a long time. At my current employed pace they would last forever, but if I were retired and could paint every day I could chew through them at a pretty good clip.
