The Minipocolypse has arrived! The new world government has shut down all mini production and destroyed all means of making more minis (putty, software, etc..., though there is still paint and brushes):  How long can you keep painting in your secret bunker given your current stock of minis?

Luckily, I'm an incredibly slow painter.

I once "joked" with a coworker that I had at least enough minis to last until retirement (10+ years), but that's just a guess.

Not including stuff in the mail on its way here, or things we could 3d print with existing supplies, ~22 years.

If you had to teach a class on one [ hobby ] thing, what would you teach?

How to cut pins, without using wire cutters or side cutters or any kind of cutters, AND how to make sure the tiny length of wire (the pin) never goes flying.

I don’t know what to call this class. But that.

Me, teach a class?  Nah, not my kind of thing, I don't really feel suited to such or enjoy it.

Alternate answer: baaaaaah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha no. I don't really have patience, I have difficulty communicating to others how to do things (or even how I do things), and I typically find it frustrating (and exhausting) to try and work out a way that helps me convey what I'm trying to say but also actually in a way they can understand too.

Alternate alternate answer: The floor is lava. 😛

Do you have or do anything that makes your neighbors think you're a bit odd?

I stopped at the school yesterday to see when their Rememberance Day ceremony was and if it was open to the public. The adults were outside being crossing guards. They asked me if I was here to pick up a kid. "I don't own any kids," I said. Maybe they do think I'm odd.

Qualitative stream and wetland assessment methodologies - which is basically standing around in a chest waders pointing out stuff like rocks and trees and what have you and talking about how they reflect water quality. I was at a conference of other water quality folks yesterday and while talking with some people we realized no one is currently teaching this stuff in our area. There were two guys around here teaching these methods. One of them was running a free class every other year through the state that routinely filled up within minutes of it being announced. But he retired.  And the other one ran a weekend certification course once a year that charged something like $500 a person that also always sold out. He recently moved out of state. And none of the local universities teach any methodologies that are actually used professionally. So now would be a good time to get a class on this going. I'm already teaching these tools informally to all of our interns and new hires on a yearly basis. If I were closer to retirement or had more free time I'd seriously be thinking of starting a class myself.
