If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?

I teach somethings on a regular basis.  Mostly life skills and outdoors skills.  Not in a formal setting but as a Scout Leader and an Parent!

Hobby related complex fig assembly.

If I have to teach a class, the students (and possibly the world) are in deep, deep trouble.

My skill set means that I would probably be better off teaching something like "intermediate spreadsheets" or "basic critical thinking."

Perhaps "Advanced Procrastination" if the mood struck me.

Just a few of my relatives.

The oldest of my mother's brothers served in post-WW2 Europe with the Royal Canadian Air Force. Her fifth eldest brother (13 kids, so a lot of them) served in the reserves during the 60s and trained as a doctor. And a few of my cousins were cadets.

Despite having lived near many Canadian Forces bases or travelled through military airports, we don't have much of a military culture around here.

Yup.
Grandfather

Paternal Uncle

and Father.

All US army. Dad was in during the Korean War. Uncle was with the 5th army in Italy, WW2. My grandfather was on a grungy, dilapidated French railway car moving inland from Brest or Cherbourg (WW1) when the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month happened.

When he was packed onto that train we were in a shooting war, when he stepped off the train, the guns had fallen silent. He was there for the original Armistice Day.

Neither I, nor my immediate family have served.

But, my in-laws, my brother-in-law, Eldest and Youngest's bio-dad all served in the USMC, Youngest's Ex served in USAF, both of my mother's brothers (USAF, Army), cousins on my father's side (Army, Navy), and virtually all of my great-uncles on my mother's side served during WW2 or Korea.  I'm not sure about most of my father's side of the family (other than his brother-in-law and the aforementioned cousins) as we don't seem to communicate a lot with that side of the family.

I have not, but both my Dad and Father in Law were in Korea during the war there [my Dad was awarded the Silver Star for his actions during the Chinese Invasion]. One of my Uncles was at Pearl Harbor, on the Oklahoma during that attack, and his son served in Vietnam.

My Father was with the Army in WW II, An Uncle died in Korea, An Uncle served in Korea and Vietnam (died from Agent Orange because he was a Forward Observer for the Air Force). Another Uncle was in the Army a long time.  Retired as the highest ranking Non Com in the army.  My Brother and his wife were in the Navy.

I grew up on two military bases, so that probably answers that...  Dad (and most of his side of the family) were in the military, with most serving in the Air Force.  Dad wanted to put a stop to that "family tradition", and found it rather handy just how rebellious I was.  I had contemplated the idea when really young (and then had hopes of being a fighter pilot dashed with glasses at age six), but by the time I was sixteen I definitely didn't want to enlist.  At the time you would make more working in a warehouse, get to sleep in your own bed, and also not take on all the extra mental issues serving even in peaceful theaters brings about.

Despite my interest in military history I've never served. Closest relatives that served were one of my mom's uncles and one of my dad's cousins served in the Canadian army during WW2. Another of dad's cousins was a Vietnam War US marine. A great grandpa served in Cuba during the Spanish American War and a great, great grandpa was a US Civil War vet. A lot of men from here served during WW2 so Remembrance day is close to my heart. There was a family that lived on what's now my ranch that had 3 sons overseas. One was a tank commander, another a sailor on a corvette and the other bomber crew. My grandpa's best friend was at Dieppe and served through the NWE campaign as a radio/wire man for artillery forward observers.
