Having lived in several places in Quebec that fit that description, I'm curious about which place that is.

If it's Bagotville (20 minutes from where I currently live), the area is much more populous and modern that it looks like on a map, unless you don't speak a word of French.

Though if you're with the Canadian Rangers Patrol Groups, then you'd be stuck in one of dozens of remote, mostly coastal, villages. And that's much tougher for anyone with a family.

Not sure, but it was 2000 and all we ever got out of him was "worse than Bagotville", so I'm thinking it was indeed some middle of nowhere search and rescue base or listening post.

He tried the "I'll stick around another five years if I'm posted to Comox, and I stay there the entire five years" bit as well, but that wasn't even on the table apparently.

Late weekend question:

When you move, how long afterwards does it take you to get your hobby area/stuff unpacked and arranged the way you want it?

-or-

If you've never had to move, is your hobby area/stuff arranged the way you want it?

My current place is too small to really do so.  I'll let you know if I ever get around to upgrading.

How long does it take you to paint a miniature?

Varies greatly by size and the quality I'm going for.  Hours to 20+ hours.

How often do you make your bed?

Whenever I do laundry.  Or when someone might visit.

I sleep in a messy nest of blankets and arguably too many stuffed animals on a bare mattress.  I generally need to untangle the blanket of choice each sleep.  I move too much for a bottom sheet to stay put, so gave up. Over time, getting in and out of the raised bed, top is maybe 2.5-3' off floor, the mattress slides off the boxspring, and animals fill in the gap.  When it gets bad enough, every few weeks, I dig out all the stuffies and push the mattress back flush with the wall.  That's as close as it gets to being made.

What one thing can you tell others about in your local area that will instantly identify where in the world you are from (other than the name of your area, obviously)?

My last name. We've been farming in the area over 100 years. Everyone in town knows my dad, so dropping his name is usually good. My grandpa also owned the car wash/laundromat, video rental/automotive/ice cream shop (yes, it was all of those!) and had a share of the driving range.

Our local big university uses a buckeye nut as their sporting mascot and that nut really hates everything to do with Michigan.

Hmmm....before moving you could order a Horseshoe sandwich, a Central/Southern Illinois burger. Where we are at now, Iced Tea for breakfast without getting a weird look [but that's just South of the Mason Dixon Line], oh and Sooie Pig stickers.

The Home of America's Oldest Brewery, Hershey's Chocolate, Cheesesteaks, a Billy Joel Song
