In the wake of Ed Pugh's (Reaper founder and CEO) passing, what does Reaper mean to you?

Reaper got me back into painting. Their first Bones KS really got me motivated. And that got me on the forums. And that got me painting again.

Beyond that they have hosted the most friendly and pleasant forums that I've ever encountered and are willing to let us ramble about whatever, and paint whatever on them.

Unlike many here, I have not attended ReaperCon nor have I met/interacted with many official people beyond, perhaps, a couple brief questions.  Like many others here, the Reaper forum was my gateway back into the minis/painting hobby.

This is my favorite place to "hang out" (virtually speaking).  So I definitely owe Reaper some gratitude for a nice place to hang out and for some nice, reasonably priced minis to buy as well.  I've definitely learned much (and laughed a fair bit, too) in the space here that Ed and Co. created.

Reaper means a lot to me. While I've backed every Kickstarter since the third one, it's really the forums that have had the most impact on me. I'll always be grateful to @buglips*the*goblin for inviting me here, and it's opened a world that I never thought possible. Here is a place where I actually share interests with other people, and a lot of them have become my friends and family. It's a place where I can be at ease and be myself, and few people understand how valuable a gift that really is.

For me, Ed was always good-natured and lighthearted, someone who laughed easily and who had no problem helping me razz @Reaper Ron. Everything was in good fun, and it the livestreams always felt like a group of friends hanging out. Things now......they will change, as life always does. But we all remember his legacy, and because of that Reaper and all of us will continue to endure. And most importantly, never forget the connections made here.

If you were offered a free ride scholarship to a university and all your expenses met, would you go and what would you study?

What's the catch?

If it's 100% free and clear, I don't have to work for someone for X number of years to repay it, then yes, I would.

I'm not sure what I would study; at this point in my life it's probably too late to change careers, so something to further my knowledge in my current field.

Strangely enough I got a full ride to the Ohio State University where I got my Master's degree studying applied microeconomic theory (more specifically I researched how non market environmental services affect real world pricing of things like housing).  I was hoping to get accepted to the physics department, but the econ folks had more money to throw around. So I guess the answer would be that I would go. And what I'd study would completely depend on what department the funding was coming from.

I'm with @Chaoswolf - I'm reading those terms and conditions rather thoroughly.  And are we talking all expenses as in what most consider all expenses, or is it twisted in the way it usually is where you're still on the hook for things that add up quickly, like laundry, food, power, heat, and internet?

Assuming there somehow was no catch, I honestly don't know what I'd study, since so many things seem to just be sit in classroom and listen to someone drone on for some time, and I'd much rather be actually doing something.

Sat—Sun, Nov. 26-27, Weekend question: What are the best and worst things about winter (for you)?

I hate Winter, the best part is when it's over.

Agree with @Corsair!

I love the minis and I love this Forum as a welcoming friendly place and I made friends here.

It's more than just a hobby.

I'm 58, I think it would be useless by now.

I'm from Ohio and I do not like their use of THE like they are the only.

I meant free and clear, like you can leave your job and go for four years and not worry about anything. You job would even still be there when you get back if you'd want it.

I'd probably become a GIA certified Gemologist and Jeweler, and get an MBA so that I could pursue my retirement aspirations as a jeweler.

Heck yes!

4 year program and then hopefully retire  🙂

Not sure what I'd take, other than it sure wouldn't be IT related....

Well, except there are a lot of courses on computer modeling and such for 3d printing now..... hmmmm.....

Well if that's the situation then sure, I'd go back for any kind of degree involving ornithology. I was reading a new study out of the University of Illinois this morning about how Canada geese are winning the battle between humans and animals and are quickly adapting to geese deterrent strategies. In the methodology section they basically spelled out how a grad student got to harass geese after putting a Fitbit like device on them and I thought to myself how much more fun that sounds than sitting in the office today.
