Newest update says this one's also getting cancelled, with a new campaign starting tomorrow.

Apparently, this is because the factory they're working with has suddenly given them an opportunity to reduce the costs for the minis a lot.

The update:

Adventurers--

We have some big news in regard to the Forged campaign to share today.

After the relaunch of the BackerKit campaign, our team was presented with an exceptional opportunity by our factory partner that will allow us to lower some of our manufacturing costs. This is a huge deal, as this new arrangement will allow us to offer all our backers an even better value, including restructuring our entire Stretch Goal scheme and making all items in the Forgemaster’s Vault FREE for Adventure Box and Adventure STL Bundle backers!

This great news, however, introduced a conundrum for us at HQ. While we’ve met our base level funding required to have the steel molds for the core models made (YAY!), as things currently stand, we don’t expect to see even half of what we have to offer you unlocked based on the current campaign trajectory. This new manufacturing agreement stands to be potentially wasted.

That being said, we’ve made the decision to relinquish the funding we’ve raised on BackerKit and cancel this project in its current form.

This BackerKit campaign will be canceled by the BackerKit team shortly, and none of you will be charged for your pledge.

The new campaign is scheduled to launch TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY NOV 16th 2022 @ 10AM PST! I’ll send another email this afternoon with all the details and a link to the campaign preview page.

Thank you again to all our backers for having our backs and sharing your insight with us. It means so much to know that you care enough to be honest with us when we haven’t quite nailed it. We trust you to guide us in the right direction!

Thanks again BAM Fam. See you on our next campaign.

- Hanna + the BAM Team

Incidentally, this also comes after two cancelled streams, apparently due to some team members being down with the flu since at least four days ago. And also after a hitherto very slow moving campaign, where they'd obviously expected much more funding, based on how they've added a visual roadmap for about 50 stretch goals, hitting only two after two weeks.

I don't know. Probably just coincidence? I don't doubt they want to make the minis and such. Though at the same time, it really feels like there's at least a slight bit of dishonesty here. I suspect the lack of funding has disheartened the team, and they've spent the past four days trying to figure something out, because they really want to make all those minis a reality.

But my gut feeling's not really good about this at the moment, no matter how optimistic of a spin I try to give this situation. So I think that whether I'll back the relaunch tomorrow or not will depend a lot on what information they choose to share about what's going on. Because there's no details in the text, just a lot of vagueness.

I am fairly disheartened by this turn of events as well. I do not think that 2nd relaunch within a month will bring them backing they strive for.

They should probably give it several months to really figure out what they need and how to get it. They have already wasted some marketing funds on first campaign. Now they are loosing interest of some of the backers and most likely not really expanding reach for the campaign.

I will keep my eye on it but I will probably leave the decision to join it till final hours this time round.

Yeah, absolutely. I definitely need to consider this one a bit more before deciding.

I also think the easy to make Blacklist FS1 comparison is hurting them. They should probably rebrand the campaign, and perhaps change up the format a bit more.

Alrighty, so they've decided to change the name. I assume they've had people pointing out the negative Blacklist comparisons. The new name will be "FORGED: A Massive Miniatures Collection". Honestly, not as spiffy, but won't carry that negative comparison, and is also very descriptive. So that could help.

The rerelaunch will also be on Kickstarter instead of Backerkit. I think they'll reach a much larger audience on that platform. The early bird full pledge will be $100 for the first 48 hours.

If you've backed the campaign on Backerkit, there will be some small extra stuff. (The Backerkit campaign is not yet cancelled, but I've no idea how soon that'll happen.) The extras will be a "Pug King" mini and a "third time's the charm" enamel pin.

I do think that kickstarter, especially with the STL offering, will bring more eyeballs. They hit funding pretty fast (all of the pre-regestered backers that were following the campaign) and then - nothing. Backerkit isn't known for campaigns, so noone is going there like they are for kickstarter and gamefound.

A big news game, like a new version of a game that was already multi millions, might get enough press coverage to drive people there from external links, but not from browsing discovery.

Either way I'll be pledging early bird (physical), but I'll back out if they don't just about double the offering with stretch goals
