Only if you follow the American way of doing it....  If you follow how most of the world does it, it will be 311223 (day month year)....  Or the internet/file "standard" would be 231231 (year month day).

or the ISO standard would be 2023-12-31 with optional timestamp

That's probably the one I was thinking of, and to try and keep the bit I reduced the year to two numbers despite the standard being very specific about requiring four numbers.

Got a late birthday gift from my brother this week. He gifted me an unlimited lifetime Rosetta Stone subscription! I can learn all the languages I want now. So watch out, one day I hope to speak to all the francophone forumites bilingually, as well as a certain glittery wolf from the Netherlands...

Seriously, one of the best birthday gifts I've ever received.

Sometimes the scumminess of finance companies is scary.

Wife bought a new seven needle embroidery machine last year for her craft business. These are not hobby machines. One reason she got it was that they were offering three years of financing at 0% interest. She felt she could make enough to pay it off in three years no problem. Turns out, she made enough at Christmas to be able to pay it off. She’s not one who likes owing money, even at that non-existent rate. So she was talking to me at lunch about it.

And my ears pricked up when she mentioned that she didn’t know if she should pay the minimum amount shown or a more, higher fixed amount. The amount she was being asked to pay each month was different, too. Why would there be a changing minimum amount?! You take the price, divide by 36, and yer done. I had her show me her statement and there is a box of deferred interest that comes due if she doesn’t pay off everything by May!

I think this was one of those “up to” type offers. She didn’t get 36 months she got 6. She’s mad as hell and wanted to call them up and complain. But since she has the cash, and they would have shrugged their shoulders at her, they are going to get paid off and gain absolutely nothing in “deferred interest”.

One has to be so on guard nowadays. Just burns me up. At least she’s decent at math (someone in her craft store once asked what 25% of $100 was, and it stunned her they couldn’t do that math) and has someone else to look over her shoulder to decipher things. I can only imagine how many people have been snagged by this practice.

Well, it was on sale, 40% off. And still is, through the end of January. I've been eyeing it for a couple of years, the deal pops up once or twice each year (usually at Christmas), but I never pulled the trigger on it.

your format is commonly used though, so reasonable to call it a standard
