ejala
Going to reapercon? Get a cheap mannequin, put on clay and sculpt to look a little like Jon or Ron or a Pugh, and enter a life sized chia pet in the open. 12 hours ago, @Thoramel said: On the plus side I never knew you could make so many things out of chia seeds. sumbloke
12 hours ago, Thoramel said: A buddy of mine who works at a big industrial bakery, and who knows I like to bake and brew things, asked me a few nights ago if I wanted some grains from some products they were discontinuing. Of course I do. That's like saying free beer and bread, just add labor and yeast. I was expecting maybe ten pounds of grain. He dropped it off on my porch while I was out yesterday. It was not ten pounds of grain. Instead it was 25 pounds of sunflower seeds, 25 pounds of white chia seeds, and 50 pounds of mixed grains for a multi grain loaf they used to make. I am now reaching out to everyone I know who bakes or brews, or who has ever even thought of doing so, to try and get rid of some of this. On the plus side I never knew you could make so many things out of chia seeds. Though I expect 25 pounds is a bit more than I'm going to use. If I lived anywhere near you I'd hit you up for some. SWMBO got a breadmaker for her birthday, which is great for having fresh bread in the morning.

But the feeder is a simple design. I think the floor is usually wire mesh, (aka) “hardware cloth”. If people don't want them then I'm thinking of putting out a bird feeder full of sunflower seeds. The only problem is that, in this area anyways, there was some sort of disease killing birds that was linked to feeders last year. So I'd have to sanitize it every day.
Green Eyed Monsty
I know this isn't particularly cold for our Canadian Friends, but for Northern Nevada it's downright cold. Thermometer is hovering at the Zero Degree Fahrenheit mark. Not paying attention to details, I forgot to leave a tap cracked so our water is currently kaput due to a frozen pump system. Supposed to get up to 35 degrees so hopefully I can get the system thawed out later today. Hope everyone else is doing OK, and staying warm and dry. Moderator Chaoswolf Posted January 31 Author Moderator Share Posted January 31 So far, so good, thank you for asking. I hope you get your water situation squared away without too much hassle. We got told at work yesterday that they were going to be closed today, so I am enjoying a 'snow day' today. There is no snow however, it's all just ice. That being the case, I will be staying inside all day.

Hope you don't have the sort of cascading electrical grid failure we started the year with. Our water system has a small resistance heater built in so as soon as I can get the pipes unstuck we should be good to go. GEM
Thoramel
We also got hit with a layer of ice followed by a layer of snow and plummetting temperatures here in central Ohio. I came into the office today and the roads were pretty slick, but I live fairly close so not too much of an issue. The only problem I had was when I got out of my vehicle (parked on an incline today) I slowly slid down the sidewalk for about a half block. I managed to stay upright and not drop my coffee though. I imagine to a casual observer it was like watching the least graceful ice skater of all time if they were also a yeti. Hoping the tiny amount of sun we get today fixes that issue before I have to go back up that incline.

GEM It's cold here, but it's in the high teens - I guess normal temps for us. So does anyone know where I might find 3/4-in (inside diameter) clear hard tubing locally vs online buying? What kind of store would sell that size of tubing? All I'm finding is soft vinyl tubing (which would work, but it appears I can only buy that in bulk. I only need maybe 2 feet tops. If it comes down to it, I'll just order some clear resin & print the part, as the tubing is the "glass" in experimental tanks aka scenery for D&D.

Check your nearest Plastics Supply Houses/Fabricators. They will have plastic tubing in a variety of sizes and materials. GEM

Have any specialty plastics companies near you, such as Tap Plastics? That's probably the only place you'll find that at retail. Another thought - what about flat plastic rolled up and glued? Probably quicker and clearer than resin printing.
