I started today off by annoying the dispatcher and pissing off the service manager.

Service manager screwed up and sent a board with the wrong software version to site after he sent a previous board that failed within a couple of hours of being replaced.   Distributor tech has been calling non-stop this morning to get someone to help him fix the problem - service manager won't pick up, says he's "busy".  Dispatcher getting annoyed with the repeated incoming calls, asked me to take his call.

I refused.  Told her "I'm sorry, I'm not going to be the hero on that one today. Let whomever sent the wrong program version clean up their own mess."

I'm currently cleaning up my own mess - helped one of my distributors do an upgrade a few weeks back and I forgot that there were some additional changes needed in order to make the reports come out right.

Customer:  I have half a dozen units where not all the keys are working. I need replacement parts.

Me: <Sends quote for 6 replacement keypads> OK, that will be approx $800 and we can ship today.

Customer: NO, I want the whole replacement faceplate with board, card reader and everything.

Me: <revises quote, sends it> OK, that will be approx $12,000 and will take 8-14 weeks.

... Well. When we DO get winter, we get a LOT of winter.

There's three inches of winter on the ground, and it's still coming down. I don't think we're going anywhere today (and I'd be willing to bet that school's been canceled).

I'm sort of okay with this; means I'll be able to get some other stuff that's been on my list done. But at the same time.. timing?! wtf?

It's very pretty, and very peaceful and I'm very happy to not /have/ to go out in it.

I figure I'll spend a chunk of it curled up someplace with Enigma, who's decided that humans are acceptable bedding, as long as they're me, and has been occasionally sacking out on me, purring for all she's worth.

Since I've been up since around 400ish this morning, I've heard the rain come in & it rained pretty good too. Stopped around noon or so, but everything got a soaking. I had to put up my hood on my hoodie when I went out to fill the nut bowl for the squirrels today (even slid the bowl under some deck chairs to keep it a little dry).

Kinda getting tired, but I really don't want to sleep just yet.

We've had Washoe Zephyr winds here all morning.  That's "We're not in Kansas any more", Dorothy Gale level winds running in a straight line.

Shingles on the southwest corner of the house are flapping, I can hear them banging when standing in the Master Bath.

Winds are starting to slacken, which means the main part of the storm will be rolling through in a couple of hours.
