Just had a call where an IT guy was ranting about how outdated our POS software & hardware was. When I explained to him that we still use this hardware/software because of how reliable it is,, he laughed.  I then asked him when was the last time he had to reboot his Windows PC and pointed out that the POS unit he was calling about was last rebooted in Jun 2022 and Jan 2021 before that, he went quiet and said "Oh."

Someone or someones, I assume it's the same person though, have called like 9 times today in the last 2ish hours. Every time we answer no one replies and they don't leave a message but are on the phone long enough to trigger the machine message prompt. We don't have caller ID (that's a whole thing in itself) so we can't report the number. So it's getting infuriating at this point. We get calls like this pretty regularly but not like it has been today.

ETA:

They've called 3 more times since I originally posted this. We're unplugging the phone for a while.

I generally carry snacks as well, for the same reason.

I got my bag [pulled by TSA in Whitefish MT once because I had a bundle of fruit roll ups and a cell phone tucked in my laptop bag in the same pocket.  Apparently it looked like explosives with a timer?  That part would have been funny, but then the agent just shoved everything back in with no regard, and got mad at me when stood there repacking it like I had it.

Service Manager is off the next two days, but had the "courtesy" to tag a half dozen calls/emails that came in after I left yesterday with my name to resolve/answer - but didn't bother to forward any of them to me or create tickets for them in the call center.   this was after not handling any of the simple emails I received while I was out sick on Tuesday and stuck in pre-arranged training and configuration appointments all day yesterday.

I have half a mind to create tickets for him for every call he gets the next two days instead of actually handling them.

If it was me I'd handle the ones that look easy and bounce the rest back to him.

That way when he inevitably starts complaining about you not handling his work you can point to the ones you did handle.

Wow, I'm impressed he actually listened to you.    I had one recently pounding 20 year old security standards into the phone, including very obsolete things like 90 day password expiration and such, and I counter with newer (last 2 years) reccomendatios from the same sources he was was using, and I was told I didn't know what I was talking about.

In case anyone was curious I finally have found the amount of force required to break one on the siocast style bones USA models.

It is the eclipsephase 2nd Ed book falling 2.5 feet onto the viceroy enforcers.

Which is pretty good, I mean it's a big book, and I was still able to reassemble the bots.

Just got back from the T-Mobile store here as I'm thinking of upgrading to the S23+. I went into the store maybe like 10 mins after they opened & they were already busy but people were waiting in line & tbh, I was there to play with the phones that I was interested in. I started playing with the S23 Ultra & tbh, I kinda liked that better then the 23+ as I thought that was the 23+ (I didn't look at the signs), sooo now I've got to do some research to do. Anyways, after a bit I got into line & there was this old guy (I mean old 80+) & as soon as he's able to get up to the counter he starts ranting & raving about waiting around for the clerks to see him. The clerk (who handled him perfectly btw) ask, "sorry sir but it's just me & my co-worker right now, I'm sure in your job if you have people waiting, you'd do the same." The old guy started to complain again & said "Well at least I'm getting paid!".  He then said was there to pick up 9 phones for Roadrunner towing (a local outfit here, pretty sure he was the owner as my mom said the owner was still alive & yah he fit the bill). The old guy you could barely understand but the clerk thought he said "Robert", oh boy, the guy said "Well if you'd cut your hair, you'd her me better, dammit! ROADRUNNER TOWING - 9 PHONES!" The clerk proceeded to calm the guy down & said he's have to go check in the back for him. The brought anther rant from the old guy. The clerk came back with nothing & told him there was nothing back there. The old guy stomped away complaining saying he'd hope he'd never have to see him again. The clerk said "Likewise".

Oh what an @ZZ that guy was. Funny thing was technically I was in line before him, but I didn't want to say anything + hey I wanted to talk to his co-worker instead.  I asked a few things & got the answers I needed for them, I was satified. If I upgrade, I'll even get a employee discount on accessories as one of the employees (not working at the time) is one of my players at the FLGS on Weds night. I did say as I left, I was before the old dude but I'm nice. :winkthumbs:

At least I've got till the 16th(17th) of this month to decide on if I wanna upgrade. My trade-in isn't as much as mine is a S10 but I still would get $400 for trading it in. It would be $800 but I don't want to up my plan to MAX as that is a +$50 dollar jump in my already high bill each month. The upgrade will be around +$30 if I do upgrade.

I dropped a printed base the other day on the garage floor (luckily it landed on something soft near my chair) while I was cleaning off supports & noticed there was something that resembled a mini on the floor under the table. It turns out it was a Shroomie from Reaper & it was missing half it's legs & feet. I looked further under the table & found the mdf base I had glued the shroomie to. So sometime, the mini fell off the table & snapped in half on impact. I find it kinda disturbing that shroomie broke in half given it's size. The break is clean at least so I'll be able to re-glue it back together. I did noticed there is a large gap between the legs that is filled with material that needs to be cleaned out for those now at least.

MUST. RESIST.

GAH!

Weight of the book and dimensions of the break area?

NO! Don’t give that to me. I’m happily ensconced in certification paperwork. Stay away! STOP!

There haven't been any easy ones so far today - at least not for me. The junior tech has snapped them all up while I've been dealing with other stuff.

I did, however, manage to piss off the sales guy by ignoring the call from his direct sale in favor of calls from two of the distributors in the area, one of whom the sale should have gone through.   Told him that direct sales in the area will always be lowest priority for me, since we have 3-5 distributors covering that region (depending on exactly where in the area the site is).

He told me I can't treat his customers that way, and I told him that he needs to stop treating MY customers (our distributors) that way, and if wants his direct customers to get better support, then he better learn how to provide service to his direct sales.

I'm sure I'll be hearing from the general manager over that one.

I think it was the other guy on the call (the site owner) chuckling and commenting about how he had to reboot his Windows laptop multiple times just in the last week.  Laptop provided by said IT guy.

Is it possible it didn't actually break from the fall, but got broken from being stepped on or something while on the floor?

Nope it broke due to the impact as it was on the side of the table that doesn't have any foot traffic. I think what happened was probably the base hit first & then when the mini hit it broke. Considering the shroomies are smaller then a goblin figure & not really a fragile sculpt, so who knows. I know there have been mentions of Bones USA figures being a bit more fragile then the first ones they've made so that might be why. I think if the figure had hit the floor by itself, I don' think it would have sheared in half.

Sounds like a typical Lizardskin Larry sales puke.

As for any blow-back from the GM, ask him to memorandize you {IE put it in writing] on the exact policy for dealing with sales dudes customers that are stepping on distributor territories, including prioritization protocols.Your GM is either going to give you a nice paper club to beat sales dude over the head with or provide reasons for the distributors to aim their lawyers directly at your GM and sales dude.

Good Luck
